it was one of those rare days which hwan didnāt really need to work, though he had decided first thing in the morning that heād work on some designs for his new desserts heād come up with. all of which took a backseat when jae contacted him about getting together. in a bit of a rush, he pushed his sketchbook to the side and made his way to the kitchen, throwing together a simple picnic for the two to enjoy after jae had finished his project; hwan figured itād be a nice way to make up the fact that his friend needed to do school work over the weekend.
his mind began to flip through the past few weeks -- the pair were close despite being new friends and hwan found himself under the youngerās wing, enjoying the comfort and security it offered -- when brown hues caught glimpse of the time. āiām late, iām late, for a very important date,ā he chanted to himself as he gathered his belongings and pulled his phone from his pocket to send a quick text to let the other know he was on his way.
of course, as if the two were able to read each others mind, hwanās phone went off, notifying him of a new message. a smile crept onto his face, i knew it.
[jae:] donāt do anything rash, you may regret it later! iām just a few minutes away, iām sorry. i got caught up in the kitchen, but iāll see you soon!ā
hwan pressed send as he stepped out into the daylight and began to maneuver through town, weaving in and out of foot traffic until he reached their meeting place. his gaze instantly found his friend and he couldnāt help the chuckle that fell from his lips.
taking advantage of the situation, hwan placed his advances forward very carefully, sure to miss anything that would make too much noise. once in earshot of jae, he announced his presence, a little louder than usual, and plopped himself beside the other. āsorry iām late!ā he tensed as he used his, now empty, hands to warm his arms, āi wanted to put a little something together for us to enjoy after we were done, sort of as a āyouāve worked hardā thing.ā hwan leaned over, gently bumping shoulders with jae -- that was one of the things he really liked about his newfound friend. he was never one to open up easily, nor did he show many colors to anyone, but there were a few exceptions and hwan enjoyed the fact that jae was one of them.
āi like being able to watch you, you know, do your thing. thanks for inviting me.ā he grinned before looking out at the scenery before them, āwhat exactly is your project, just the landscape?ā
