it wasn’t hard to immediately see that something was off. he had been too accustomed to the glossy looks and scatterbrained comments from too many. there was no way in hell that jason, the guy who literally looked like he could fight off a damn bear, was this excited to see him. he couldn’t find himself sincerely bringing out that reaction from anyone. the way the other seemed so out of it was an instant turn off. still, he couldn’t help the initial shock that took over his body, chalk falling to floor with a small thud, as his eyes genuinely widened at jason’s words about his hair. a soft blush was now dusted over his cheeks but he looks away to not allow him to see. his hues find sudden solace in something else, at anything but the boy staring at him so intently as if he were a piece of art, like the ones they often studied together. he wasn’t aware that the untidy strands could be this interesting. minho manages to regain his composure after a simple sigh. his hand reaches up to delicately push the frames upwards with a delicate finger before saying one single word, ‘ quentin. ’ it was a no-brainer. who else would provide such a scandalous thing ? the freshman is quick to provide a tsk, the pout now gracing his lips a stark contrast to the glare he was sending at the other’s way. this wasn’t ideal. he could barely handle himself, how was he expected to look after the older boy now ? uncaring. that’s how he wants to be portrayed. there was no way he was going to allow others to play with his feelings since there were no feelings to be played with – but that all went down the drain as soon as he spotted him. he’d like to think that the seconds that passed by with him doing absolutely nothing but staring back at glazed expressions was him thinking about what to do. whether he should walk away from the messy situation jason happily provided him with or if he should stay and resolve something. however, it was obvious that a decision had been known all along. small reddened hands find themselves reaching up simultaneously, fragile fingertips easily slipping into the now equally messy hair of the boy before him as they run through the strands. he tried to bring him as close as possible without being vocal about his desire. ‘ you’re an idiot, ’ minho whispers. he longs to say so much more but decides against it last minute. whatever he would say would only pass right through him. waiting until he was sober to scold him was a much better idea. he’d just have to wait it out with jason then … he hums lowly, his expression falling as he now faces downwards. he retracts his arms without too much trouble only to begin wiping at his chalked up lap to prepare for his next act. ‘ closer, ’ minho calls for him. ‘ lay your head on my lap, sweetheart. wait it out before you recklessly try to do something else. ’
for a moment, jason was genuinely terrified. terrified minho was going to reject him, tell him to go away or simply walk off him. if he did any of the two, he wouldn’t be able to leave those stairs like he had left the toilet room. he’d stay there, unmoving, for hours long, until the pill’s effect wore off and he sobered up sufficiently to go home. he wouldn’t even call nate or kai, because all they would do would be laugh at his face, or call him out on the mess that he was. jason waited eagerly for minho to say something, his heart pulsing in his throat, breath still uneven because of the running, his smile slowly fading from his lips. the mention of quentin’s name felt like a slap in the face, a reminder of the bitter taste lingering at his tongue. the drugs, the booze, the sex. a reminder of all of his sins. jason felt like he was about to cry, he felt overwhelmed and disoriented and god, how he wished he was sober now so he could explain. “je sais quec'est mauvais, je suis désolé, mais j'ai besoin d'eux, j'ai besoin de la pilule, je continue de rêver del'accident, les souvenirs...” the words poured out of his mouth without thought, hurriedly and barely distinguishable, each sounding more desperate than the last. in the same breath he sealed his mouth, noticing he had unknowingly switched to his mother tongue. “I’m so sorry, please don’t be mad at me.” please don’t leave me alone. he sounded like a young child, and he most certainly felt like one. helpless. a whole minute passed. the silence was slowly killing him, devouring him inside out. please say something, anything. minho’s eyes were beautiful. he was beautiful, and jason knew he did not deserve him, he was not worthy of his attention, of his love. he opened his mouth to speak once again, but then he watched minho’s hands reach for him, reach for his hair. soft and familiar. he found himself melting under his touch, so happy he could almost cry. you’re an idiot. i know, i know, i know. jason chuckled humorlessly, eyelids fluttering like a cat’s. closer. as his head went to rest on minho’s lap obediently, his arms went to wrap around his legs loosely. waves of relief rippled down his spine, his cheek rubbing sofly against the denim of minho’s pants. he wouldn't mind staying like this forever.
