KIKO HAD NEVER exactly been someone who dealt with other people exceptionally well. having t a r n i s h e d her image as ‘ japan’s perfect daughter ’ when she was only seventeen by throwing the temper tantrum of all temper tantrums, she had figured that, in order to control her anger i s s u e s that still reared its ugly head even now that she was known as sutton’s resident bookworm, it was better for her to keep quiet and stay on her own. but not even that stopped the better side of her personality, the side of her that had once upon a time been described as kindhearted and helpful, from making an appearance when she saw someone who needed a but of help —— and that’s exactly what had happened when, after leaving a particularly e x h a u s t i n g ballet lesson, she’d seen someone fall, the books that they’d been holding tumbling to the ground and before she was even quite sure of what to think of what had happened, she was by their side. “are you okay ? ” okay, that was a d u m b question and she knew it and that was enough to cause the history major to cringe slightly. “i mean… you’re kind of bleeding so of course you’re not okay but – yeah… sorry. would you… like some help ? ”

somehow, in the wake of her SUSPENSION from the tigress team, some people thought it alright to treat her like she’s FALLEN from some sort of grace — asking her to ferry books to and fro, and honestly, if she cared enough to think about what other people had to SAY about her, yezi would feel humiliated. unfortunately ( and to the disappointment of everyone, mostly journalists, who always had something to say about her ), being given a DAMN is something you had to earn from someone like yezi, and she’s even amused by the thought of people thinking she’s been stripped of POWER ( what god runs out of power? fallen ones — but even they GROW to have power of their own ). so she humors them and agrees to deliver the books; anyway, she needs an outlet to exercise her muscles now that her schedule has freed up immensely.

yezi doesn’t see them coming, so she barely had any TIME to react — a student dashes past her, knocking their shoulder against the TOWER of books she’s balanced on her arms. the books fall down, and yezi makes an effort to reach out to ONE of them, hoping to catch it before it lands on the floor. Instead she cuts herself on the paper; a white PAIN that strikes through her, arm flinching away. she stares at it, the droplet of blood forming on her finger, and yezi puts her finger in her mouth to suck her finger until it’s stopped bleeding — this happening while another student, a girl, approaches her. yezi hears her, of course, but doesn’t immediately acknowledge because she’s unfamiliar to her. “ your CONCERN is unnecessary, ” yezi says after she pulls her finger out of her mouth, not even looking at them, “ i’m fine. ” her eyes scan the books scattered all over the floor. “ but if you are so keen on helping, then pick up some books and help me deliver them. ”

KNUCKLES RAP HEAVILY on the wooden frame as haesoo uses his unbothered shoulder to lean against the wall, clearly supporting his frame, as he continued to try to level his breathing at an excusable level. his body practically RADIATED heat, along the lines of red and anger, and while he couldn’t gone anywhere else, everywhere else, he chose to go to hers because … it’s her. he shuts his eyes and clenches his teeth for a moment before gathering the COURAGE to lift his bloodied knuckle to knock again once, twice as a pained groan left his bruised lips –– fingers losing their purpose while knocking and instead, found it much more soothing to grip the side of his rather aching ribs. “ yezi. baby. open up, ” he murmurs quite loudly to the door, head tilting towards the wood as eyes still clench shut in pain. he had lost track of what time it had been because the last time he had checked before plummeting his knuckles into some poor kid’s face, it was well PAST two o’clock in the morning and yezi was probably asleep. ( well, he shouldn’t have much pity on the student who dared test his patience on the tiger captain’s credibility. ) blood began to trip uncomfortably from his knuckles as it STAINED the ground beneath him; fuck, he was going to pass out before he could even see her. what was he even thinking going to her –– ? it wasn’t like they were together because yezi should’ve give a flying fuck about him, showing up all cut and bruised up … but he finds himself HERE anyway, full of hope. it’s five, ten minutes until he hears any kind of movement on the other side of the door before he knocks again, starting with the low rumble of his voice, “ yezi, c’mon, open up. i’m –– i’m pretty fuckin’ hurt. ” ( @yezikill )

yezi barely hears him, drifting between the line of sleep and reality like that, brain digesting the amount of information she’s forced-fed it hours earlier. but she rises from the couch all the same, ambling towards the door. the fuck did haesoo want at — yezi glances at the clock to her left — THREE? in the goddamn morning? fuck. a hand reaches out, turns the knob and pulls the door open.

the sight that greets her bathes her in cold water, ADRENALINE stabbing through her pulse. her hands are still in front of her, and she’s searching across his frame for somewhere she could touch and wouldn’t hurt him. her eyes fly up to his, a hand reaching up to cradle the better side of his face, a trembling thumb feather-light across his lips. it doesn’t linger. yezi stands beside him, arm wrapping around his waist as she pulls his WEIGHT to rest on her. “ okay, baby, i need you to walk. ” and really, she isn’t fucking trained on how to carry a injured person, nor does she have time to wikihow it — so it’s half-drag, half-walk until yezi settles him on the couch, leaving him to close the door and rush to the bathroom for some clean towels and a medkit she keeps lying around. washes her hands thoroughly for good measure. then she’s in front of him again, examining him with keener eyes. “ god, you’re still bleeding, ” yezi whispers, “ fuck, haesoo. this needs proper medical attention — why’d you come to me? ” her jaw clenches, holding in a barrage of admonishing; he shouldn’t have gone to her, yet here he is, staining her couch with his BLOOD. “ can you remove your shirt? i need to see if there are more wounds under. ”

with her favorite cup of coffee in one hand, and her cellphone in the other, it was easy to see how distracted areum truly was. she took a sip here, check her messages there, all while walking down the hallway toward her next class. not once would she admit that she actually enjoyed said class, feeling like she actually had a future in something she was passionate about. no, on the outside she was only here for one reason and for one reason only: to break as many hearts as possible. areum had to leave some kind of mark on the school before graduating, and her darkened soul was determined to do just that. even though the day seemed to be going right on schedule, she quickly turned a corner and smacked straight into another body which caused her coffee to slip from her grip and splatter all over the floor. a quick gasp fell past her red painted lips, her shirt now stained with her favorite drink and her anger quickly rising. “you-…” deep breaths. “…are lucky this coffee isn’t hot. but now, you owe me a new one.”

“ yes, ms. lee, i understand, ” says yezi, voice saccharine if only to seem pleasing to one of her father’s business partners, “ we’ll have the numbers ready as soon as we can. it will be sent to you before the day ends. thank you. ” she curtly ends the call without hearing anything else; if there were any complaints, she’ll receive them from her father ( and given how much her father cherishes his only daughter, it’s unlikely ). and anyway, with how the news are talking about her as of late, ms. lee really shouldn’t come to expect more from an alleged murderer.

she checks her email next, thumb scrolling through the screen. lecture slides from the class she missed, sent by the professor ( at her request ). yezi’s reading through the lesson when someone bumps into her. her eyes widen just for a bit before she steps back on reflex; she takes a good look of the other person. ah. another tigress — an upperclassman. yezi wishes the coffee had been hot, raises an eyebrow at the other’s remark. does she really think yezi will owe her a cup of coffee? a scoff rides through her lips, and her eyes draw down again, to her lesson; her feet start to carry her out of the scene.

Stuck gazing at the after glow of yezi’s body had to be some kind of blessing on taesung’s life —- or a beginning to his own damnation; either way, the young tiger marveled at the sight next to him. this wasn’t like him — none of this was like taesung at all. he never cared for the bodies left laying beside him after a rush of endorphins, never bothered to even look over as he came down from his own highs — but things were different with yezi. and he wasn’t sure if he liked it or not —- he certainly didn’t like the foreign feeling that filled his stomach after she left, and he could never get used to the idea of the cheerleader warming the bed of her best friend and roommate. ‘ yeez, ’ he had called out after a long silence between the two, fully shifting to his side with that cocky half smile playing on the corner of his mouth. ’ you sure there’s no way i can have you here a bit longer ? ’ // @yezikill

yezi could still taste him on her tongue, and she wants to do it all over again, because it’s never enough, not with taesung; not when he’s so, so good to her. but she’s spent for the evening and just wants the comfort of her own bed. or maybe haesoo’s, but the lack of noise in the adjacent room says a lot about his absence this evening ( and taesung’s right here — such an act would render her an ingrate ). “ you have me longer than most of the other tigers do, ” she says to him, cracking a smile, “ don’t get too greedy. ” yezi sits up and picks a shirt off the floor. it’s too big to be hers but she wears it anyway. “ although, food sounds great. ” she crawls back on the bed, on all fours before him, her sweet breath fanning against his face. a kiss, chaste. “ can you do that for me, baby? ”

––––– BEING HERE WAS A MISTAKE a really dumb mistake on the school’s part. he wasn’t supposed to be here, maybe, only when he had to work with one of the dance majors students with their choreography and his music but not like this. this being standing in the middle of the room with others standing next to him, he could already feel the side eyes they’ve been giving him since he walked in the room. it’s not joohyuk’s fault that this class was accidentally been put on his class schedule out of nowhere, and it’s definitely not joohyuk’s fault that he was born with two left feet either. he could barely hear the teacher yelling something about pairing up for the choreography, and he could already feel his blood turning cold because god damn someone has to be paired up with him?? joohyuk, you’re with yezi. the name rang a bell in his head, having heard the name through the hallways, classes, basically everywhere. because of course, let the worst dancer in the room be paired up with sutton’s very own tigress. the stares in his back were enough to burn a whole in his body but that still didn’t stop him from walking slowly towards where yezi was. from up close he could clearly see how beautiful she was, which wasn’t making things easier. joohyuk gave her a hesitant smile, hoping that it didn’t turn out in a grimace instead as he fidgeted with the ends of his shirt. ❛ we––- we’re paired up, ❜ he said as if the teacher wasn’t still calling out pairs, ❛ uh– right, right, i’m joohyuk.. and i’m sorry, i’m not very good at.. all of this.. ❜

the professor had sought her out personally. says yezi could decline if she didn’t want to; it’s okay. but after quitting the team a week ago, she had a lot of free time, so she accepts the offer to become her assistant for the class. yezi receives an email of every student in the class and a course overview for the entire semester. yezi’s not actually sure if what she’s doing is allowed, but she guesses that if she filed papers as per instruction of the prof, then it’s probably okay. it’s not like it’s a problem anyway — the classes are all on her break time. yezi and the prof — ma’am cho — had gone over the class list and how to pair each of them up. one student extra, and ma’am cho wonders if it’s okay to pair yezi with him. she nods, and that’s that ( besides, what else could she possibly answer? )

the actual day of class starts and she sees him, and finds herself a little disappointed. it would’ve been much more fun to teach if she recognizes him from the lacrosse team. his smile came off like a dog’s snarl, but the way he fiddled with his shirt means discounts the hostility she previously assumed ( hostile? to her? preposterous ). “ it’s okay, ” she responds easily, “ because i am. ” ma’am cho has finished pairing up the students, and yezi knows what comes next. “ ma’am cho wants all of us to be comfortable with one another, so we dance better. how about we get a corner to ourselves and do just that? ”
