"why is simblr fighting again" we'll we're trying to say we have actual problems with the community's behavior and want things to change. and I'm getting doubly sick of the responses that are along the lines of "stop being hysterical and shut up so we can have fun"

Okay I had fun kiking a little bit about it but I’m gonna be genuinely serious for a moment. Let me start by saying this isn’t everyone. There are a lot of Strangetown/Pleasantviewers/Non-Veronaville fans who are awesome. They’re kind and respectful of the fact that someone else likes something that they’re maybe not into! And that’s alright! No one is required to like Veronaville.

The problem arises with the fact that A LOT of people are literally so hostile to Veronaville and its fans that at some point it becomes clear that we’re not welcome in a lot of Sims fandom spaces. Veronaville can’t come up once without someone complaining about how “boring” it is, or how they don’t like that there’s only three families, or that the premades are “boring.” And god forbid you like Tycutio, because apparently that can’t come up either without it being massively shit on. Can you imagine if someone did that anytime someone talked about Strangetown? Or Pasnerv?

And suddenly Veronaville gets a LITTLE bit of attention over literally a fanmade poll and a shitty Sims 4 remake of Tybalt Capp, and suddenly Veronaville fans are all insane and Simblr is just Tycutioland. God forbid we get SOMETHING after years of being ignored and brushed aside to the point of feeling the need to be recluse. How is it surprising that Veronaville fans are very passionate and protective of what we like after years of being shit on for it? Why are other fandoms of other neighborhoods allowed to show the same passion without any kind of pushback?

My point is, maybe don’t prove to us time and time again that we are unwelcome in most Sims fandom spaces and we won’t feel the need to be so defensive all the time. Do better, at the end of the day we’re all just people who like a 22 year old game that EA forgets about until they need to make some money.

I’m sure a lot of you won’t read this and will still continue to be outwardly and openly hostile towards Veronaville fans, but I have to try at least.

my take on tybalt is that he isn't the fiery aggressor that attacks montys on sight. he's extremely hot-headed, yes, but he's immensely pressured by the authority in his life to keep his cool and not show any offensive emotion. the capps aren't hands-on kind of people—they'll ridicule their enemies from a safe high ground and avoid scuffles just to keep their clothes clean and dignity intact. they also find emotions to be an obstacle to true excellence. after all, entrepreneurship is an unfeeling business.

tybalt is an embarrassment. not only is he a boy in a matrilineal (and generally matriarchal) family, but he's prone to blowing up and easily falls for a certain monty's provocations—my #controversial headcanon is that mercutio is the one that starts all their scraps. every single one. like seriously in my game it's him 90% of the time that jumps tybalt and gets whooped, not the other way around. a good part of it is wanting the hot ginger guy on him, but a greater part of it is in retaliation…

tybalt used to be his best friend, someone he couldn't go a full day without seeing or else he'd worry something terrible had happened. the one who, despite seeming unlike him in every possible way, from every quirk to every mannerism, was the only person to truly understand him. then, faster than either of them could process what happened, the feud ripped that person away. the same terrible feud that had led to incomplete investigations, various civil cases, and fingers pointed at a made up enemy for centuries.

now, tybalt keeps his distance. they go weeks, even months without seeing the other's face. picking fights with him is the only way mercutio can even get him to look in his direction. perhaps the fire made him forget how they used to frolic hand-in-hand through the dewy grass, lie beside each other under the afternoon sun, tell each other secrets in the dark—and if this was the only way mercutio could even get close to reliving those moments, to make tybalt remember, then alla stoccata.

little does he know that tybalt does remember. every detail from their childhood carved into his bones with careful precision. he remembers how his own face used to flush whenever mercutio beamed his bright, toothy grin at him, so he turns the other cheek. he fears how even the acknowledgment of his former friend could easily turn him into a family traitor—how one glance held for a moment too long could cause him to lose himself in those dogged brown eyes, and make him fall in love all over again. if only he could hate him.
