Hyper Dreams^3 SLIME EDITION

hyper dreams³ was an exhibition in the H48 Projektraum.

The room was transformed into a shiny installation with video, music, glittery slime, and play dough. Visitors could move through the space, sit down, listen to music, watch live visuals, and use the materials in the room.

In the weeks before the exhibition, people met in the space to build the installation and work with the slime and play dough. These meetings were filmed and shown as part of the exhibition.

During the exhibition, another video camera filmed the floor and the things being made in the room. The live image was shown on a big screen and streamed on the Discord server. The image was visually distorted, so people’s faces were not visible, but you could still get a sense of what was happening and what was being created.

The exhibition focused on the people in the room and on how the space changed through their presence and participation.

At the opening night for Hyper Dreams^2, we invited two artists to send everyone off to the night with dj sets of dreamy lullabies:

･ﾟ✧HYPER ｡.｡:∞♡♥ DREAMS^2 :･ﾟ✧- PRODUCTION WORKSHOP An atmosphere of curiosity and exploration filled our bedroom at Hyper Dreams as we hosted a series of music production workshops. With an emphasis on Ableton basics, this workshop was designed to be an open invitation to everyone curious about music production and/or experimental sound.

The workshop was held by Richard Barr aka Wikihow Adventure Cruise, a good friend and frequent collaborator. Richard is a singer, producer, and experienced Ableton trainer. Over the previous four years, he had carved out a name for himself, releasing a colorful spectrum of emotional pop and trap-infused emo anthems under his solo project, Wikihow Adventure Cruise.

He was closely involved with the Gochu Village collective, releasing a monthly radio show on Hong Kong Community Radio featuring underground SoundCloud artists. In 2022 he founded the Fog Juice collective with fellow Berlin musicians Lokik, Simoncello, Good Girl Aggie, and the animator Allen Paisley, hosting live shows and building a scene in Berlin for hyperpop and adjacent artists.

The dj workshops during Hyper Dreams couldn’t help but turn into parties. The workshops had a loose format, letting everyone try out their skills with proper equipment and speakers. Guided by DJ Sailor Hoon who shared their best tips and tricks. After the workshop, the conversations kept going and we have been happy to see how many of the participants got eager to learn. It’s a dream to eventually present skills developed collaboratively at future club nights.

･ﾟ✧HYPER ｡.｡:∞♡♥ DREAMS^2 :･ﾟ✧is an immersion into the bedrooms of hyperpop, refracting sounds from a genre that glistens in some realm between internet and fantasy. More than a site for sleeping, the bedroom is a site of dreaming. It is where our most intimate connections and ideas are formed. It is where we sleep, dream, dress up, log in. is an homage to these bedrooms – the bedrooms of our best friends, of songwriters, listeners, producers, gamers, and Sims 2 players – bedrooms as pandora’s boxes of sparkly artifacts, a light-filled microcosmos of who we are.

So log off Discord and connect with us AFK at DOT Berlin for a month-long slumberrave in Hyper Berlin’s bedroom. Read through our diaries and feel free to write in it as well, choose your favorite song from our playlists, log on to our desktop, and see what’s behind the screen. Each item in the bedroom is free to touch, try and interact with, we want you to feel at home. Throughout the month we will host workshops, stream our favorite songs and movies, write, sing, listen, read, and stay up all night talking about our dreams.

:･ﾟ✧ HYPER ｡.｡:∞♡*♥ DREAMS :･ﾟ✧ Some of the objects at the "Hyper Dream" exhibition came with a little text explaining the story, how they were made or found, and why they were now at the exhibition. Visitors could see which song the objects were associated with and listen to the song by scanning a QR code that brought them to Hyper Berlins playlist. Give it a listen!
