i mean she is in her 20s but her actions and thoughts remind me of an angst y teen, i was wondering why? shouldn ‘t they just make her a teen instead of an adult
to clarify, by "be more specific" i meant "give me examples" because here's the thing. my opinion is that cassandra is by far the most responsible, most mature, and most grown up member of the main cast and while i understand that you do not share that opinion, the only answer i can honestly give to the question of "why did they make cass act like a teenager?" is "they, uh... didn't."
and if what you want is for me to engage with the broader question of "why did they choose to give cassandra certain behaviors, certain beliefs, whatever" then you do need to be specific about what those things are, because i fundamentally disagree that any of cassandra's behavior at any point in the series is teenagerish.
unless we're talking lost lagoon cass, who i'm pretty sure just is a teenager. like i think she's supposed to be a year or two younger than rapunzel in lost lagoon, and that version of cass does act like a teen. because. she is one vbdhjfshj
canon cass, however? tts cass? does not act like a teenager. she acts like a woman in her early twenties who is working effectively 2.5 jobs—she is rapunzel's lady-in-waiting and a maid and doing ye olde fantasy equivalent of an unpaid internship with the royal guard—under the constant threat of being thrown out of her home and imprisoned if she displeases her father or the king. her only friends are the princess she's duty-bound to serve, who habitually transgresses each and every interpersonal boundary cassandra attempts to draw between them and continually puts cassandra's livelihood and, in s2, life in danger; and two ex-thieves who mooch around the palace, making messes for her to clean up, one of whom routinely goes out of his way to bother her. she sacrifices her own goals and dreams for the sake of rapunzel's destiny, and does her best to keep her reckless, irresponsible friends safe on the journey—only to have this thrown back in her face as mockery for how joyless and uptight she is. when she loses her temper, rapunzel angrily shuts her down. when she tries to express her hurt feelings, rapunzel tells her to suck it up and deal with it. rapunzel maims her, and then not only expects but forces cassandra to apologize for it.
like... even in s3 her behavior seems, taken as a whole, pretty rational to me. this is a woman who has been treated like dirt her whole life and asked to carry an increasingly heavy and increasingly unfair burden on her shoulders with zero support, clinging desperately to the one singular person who has ever shown her real empathy and compassion, and getting taken for a ride by a skilled manipulator as a result.
you could give this arc to a teenaged character, certainly. teenagers aren't so different from adults that they can't feel anguished or enraged when they are treated unjustly; but with cassandra being so much more responsible and so intensely aware of consequences before she hits her breaking point in the HOYT, i do think it works much better if she's an adult. because she acts like one.
