still working on my bing-ge theories but i posit: given half a chance, he'd be even more of a pathetic simp for shen qingqiu than bing-mei. yes he'd need some time to warm up to it, and i know bing-mei isn't exactly the poster boy for self-esteem, but the important thing about bing-ge is that he's worse.

this is a man who, on unexpectedly reuniting with an alive version of the evil music teacher who ruined his life, not only allowed him to pet him (while sqq's limbs were in ripping range, c'mon) while going ?? but pivoted so fast to seduction literally the second it occurred to him. bing-ge hated the guy! that's kind of key to his origin story! shizun no good very bad and gets murdered about it! but shizun is nice for 0.2 seconds and suddenly sex is very much on the table

bing-ge is also the man who, after his seduction attempt failed and he got beaten up by bing-mei, turned for a dramatic come with me moment with, again, the suddenly nicer version of his evil teacher. who i cannot stress enough has been nice to him for like one tuesday afternoon, after a lifetime of Not Nice. and bing-ge is ready to run away into the sunset together already. admittedly he's run away into a lot of sunsets with many many women, but rarely has he looked so upset about it. he is shooting his shot with no reflection or apparent hesitation, it is literally his first opportunity to Bond with shen qingqiu for real and he is grabbing it with both hands, like go huge king but also say what now

bing-ge is also the World's Straightest Man with more wives than he's had hot meals, yet he reads like One smutty rpf about him and his old teacher and is like wait, you can DO that? and all of a sudden he is totally on-board with getting hot and heavy. not just with a dude, but with, again, the evil arts teacher who super ruined his life and their grudge has spanned forever but bing-ge is happy to just Forget all of that in exchange for some kissy time??

give him like a month in the newer, sexier shen qingqiu's company and that man is even more sopping wet and clingy than bing-mei. he is the most extreme Luo Binghe of all Luo Binghes and i put it to you that this tendency goes in both directions. his Extreme Danger Do Not Approach meter is filling up at the exact same time as his Desperate Simp bar and yes, he is going to be so weird about it

the sheer amount of people that forget that SJ’s actual backstory was not discussed in PIDW…..

freshly-transmigrated shen yuan would NOT know why yqy got killed! yqy was never revealed to have been a slave *in the narrative!* nobody knew why sqq was such a dick to him or that they were childhood friends!

the things we are told that pidw readers DID know:

sj was a slave, loved by the qiu, engaged to qht, and then killed the men and apprenticed under wu yanzi

sj fucked prostitutes

sj killed lqg

sj "caused" yqy's death (v1) / was "used...to drive" yqy to his death (v2)

sj's original name being shen jiu (as QHT uses it at the trial in vol 2 and SY does not express surprise/lack of recognition)

that’s it.

In the end, [Luo Binghe] had needed to use the original flavor Shen Qingqiu to drive that sect leader to his horrific death, pierced through by ten thousand arrows. Come to think of it, in both the original work and in this world, Yue Qingyuan truly treated Shen Qingqiu unusually well. Shen Qingqiu had been perplexed by this since early in the novel; why did the great leader of a righteous sect bestow such favor on a scum villain of all people? Were there undiscovered hidden depths to this relationship? Would it be one of his plot hole-filling responsibilities?

if PIDW readers knew any more than that, we aren't told about it--and, explicitly, SY does NOT know the link between sj + yqy. he is completely sympathetic to yqy for enduring sj's hatred and completely unsympathetic to literally everything about sj.
