when you say something awkward and stupid in a social situation that probably no one will remember except you for the rest of time
THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL
POV you're shen yuan
16 yo vs 21 yo
First bingqiu drawing after years fuccckkkk
[ID: Scum Villain fanart of Bingqiu. Luo Binghe is hugging Shen Qingqiu from behind, leaning in with pursed lips for a kiss. Shen Qingqiu has one hand on his arm, one eye closed where his and Binghe's face touch. /end ID]

imagine you're don abene for a second.
you encounter a secunit for the first time.
it saves your life in a situation where no one else would have been fast, strong, agile, and composed enough to do so.
your security team is immediately more alarmed by its presence than the attack that is obvious to you as the bigger issue at the moment
they insist it's dangerous and struggle to relax enough to take their weapons off of it
then a combatbot attacks your group
somehow this secunit, much smaller than the bot, unarmored, without any heavy weaponry on its person, manages to take it down. some real jaw-dropping action, all over in less than a minute
then it leaps into a room with two combatbots and not only survives, but it gets your unconscious friend out alive
then it immediately comes to your own rescue, disabling impressive combat armor
it then is dead-set on killing your attacker who is already immobilized and harmless
clearly this is an incredibly competent and dangerous and powerful person
then miki tells you that it IS rin and you finally put it together that not only is this person competent in the field, but it is also calling all its own shots and has truly come here all on its own and volunteered its services to help and protect you without needing to be asked or ordered
so this person is incredibly competent, dangerous, powerful, AND kind, AND fiercely protective, AND reassuring, AND intelligent, AND selfless
and it's still coming up with great ideas and still thinking proactively about how it's going to face down or distract another combatbot as though there's no doubt in the world that it, still bleeding heavily, still unarmored and barely armed, is ready for another round with a terrifying machine that appears to be nothing BUT armor and weapons
so you step forward to help treat its injuries
and it jerks back a step with the single most frightened face you've ever seen, as though you had lifted your arm to inflict pain and it was helpless to stop you
behind you, even miki can read the devastating expression that's breaking your heart and says "abene won't hurt you, secunit"
where did the fearsome fighter from moments ago disappear to?
who did this to it?
Ok someone has to take this away from me before I drive myself insane attmepting to idk art better 🙈
Idk how long I'll be on this murderbot train but these ARE my new favorite books to ever.
Thinking about how... Farai and Naja keep backing it up. In the first half, yes, but increasingly so in the second half, all while Murderbot keeps planning to ditch them or otherwise keep them out of the fray and shoulder all extraction, travel, security, disguise responsibility by itself.
"I'm a strong construct who don't need no human backup!"
>Farai helps it maintain low levels of scrutiny by not letting it wander off to save Leonide's family alone. She and Naja coordinate in advance to ensure its compliance in this, having caught on to its ill-advised intention to ditch all three of them. >Farai works their cover by engaging the tech repair place so Murderbot can do reconnaissance. >Meanwhile, Naja is doing some brilliant escape vehicle planning with built-in redundancies. >Farai quickly and efficiently carries out the objectives Murderbot had assigned her for their flash-incursion into the apartment. >Farai wrecks the fuck out of the bed Janity is chained to. >Farai manages Janity by liberally applying mothering to the situation when the anxious teen locks up in place, delaying their escape. >Farai and Naja help it hide all its bulletholes as it's pulled out of the water, graciously interface for it with all the humans it has to get past on the boat, and otherwise help maintain its "plausibly augmented human" identity in a very crowded situation. >Farai and Naja share ground vehicle driving responsibility with it, allowing it stretches of time to watch its shows, which isn't quite a restart but makes a big difference for both its well-being and job performance. >Sofi (!!) contributes a plan to get across the large port with speed and comfort when all the adults are stumped, discouraged, out of ideas, and out of performance reliability, which helps them all regroup somewhat before the final hurdle. >Farai and Naja double down on managing the group's appearance at the food kiosks as Murderbot's performance starts to drop off and directing extraction strategy increasingly becomes the only thing it can manage on its own. >Naja reliably continues to the shuttle with the two younger kids, ensuring Three can get them to safety without confusion or panic. >Farai stays to back Murderbot up in an emotionally fraught situation, providing the additional warmth and empathy to Janity that Murderbot wouldn't have been able to offer the adolescent on its own, and her contribution was just as valuable to Janity's strength in facing away from her second father as Murderbot's reassuring guarantee of physical protection.
Not an exhaustive list of all the support Murderbot received in its extraction goal from the very humans it was extracting, but I can't sit here all day.
...this started out as a Farai post that ended up having to include Naja's activities in parentheses but I gave up on maintaining that more narrow focus; just gonna give both women (+ Sofi!) their flowers. 💐
try a Tangbyrd from Super Princess Warrior?
Kind of ironic how one of Xie Lian's titles is "The god-pleasing crown prince" when the one thing he does consistently without fail is piss off the Heavenly Emperor.
Finally bringing him home
I got so caught up in the angst that I over-thought the art and nearly drove myself up the wall trying to make this.
still a harem novel
ok I endured it. now what!!!!!!!!!
Sky High (2005) had an unbelievable impact on people who write interactive novels for Choice Of Games
I hope Murderbot realizes that it using a historical artifact to save a bunch of escaped slaves from bounty hunters is prime Preservationist bait for a based-on-a-true-story movie
I desperately need the bonus cut with the director's commentary, where murderbot occasionally interjects and continues to refer (despite the museum director and several historians attempts to correct it) to the artifact as "a bag"
