Hype gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall have no life, hold no plans, dismiss no tinfoils. I shall wear no frowns and conceal no story. I shall live and die while I post. I am The voice in the darkness. I am the watcher on the chats. I am the fire that burns against the undersold, the idea that brings the discussion, the horn that wakes the subscribers, the knowledge that answers the questions of men and women. I pledge my life and honor to the Hype’s Watch, for this hype and all the hypes to come.

TWOW, Arianne II (chapter summary)

After crossing the Sea of Dorne, Arianne and her 6 companions embark on a fateful journey to determine whether Dorne will declare for Aegon and join in his war against the Iron Throne. They arrive at a settlement known as the Weeping Town and hear of wars and rumors of war. To their surprise, they discover that the Stormlands is divided in their loyalty between the lion and the dragon. Arianne dispatches her first raven.

‪The following day, the party sets off for the long land journey across the Stormlands for Griffin's Roost and Jon Connington. The journey takes them through the beauty of the Rainwood, but when heavy rains fall, they make camp in a dangerous network of caves within the forest. When the rains subside, they set out again for Griffin's Roost and stop at Mistwood. There, they encounter sellswords led by Young John Mudd and Chains: two Sergeants from the Golden Company. Arianne sends another raven.

‪Chains decides to "escort" Arianne's company as they depart Mistwood. When he lets slip that Jon Connington left Haldon Halfmaester in charge of his former seat and was marching for Storm's End, Arianne dispatches her third raven.

‪On the fourth day of their journey from Mistwood, Arianne and her party encounter another detachment of Golden Company sellswords led by the company's glib master of whisperers, Lysono Maar. Arianne finds Lysono uncomfortable to look at and asks why Dorne should support Aegon's claim over Daenerys'. Lysono tells her that they're here when Daenerys is not. She sends her fourth raven.

‪When the party finally arrives at Griffin's Roost, Halfmaester Haldon brings shocking news: Jon Connington and Aegon have taken Storm's End. Unfortunately, a Tyrell army is descending on Storm's End to re-take the castle. Haldon invites Arianne to take ship up to Storm's End. 

‪Later that night, Arianne's companion (and former lover) Daemon Sand tries to convince Arianne to go back to Dorne since neither Quentyn nor Daenerys and her dragons are with Aegon and the Golden Company, but Arianne decides she must see for herself.

Today, we’ll be tackling on the reread of ASOIAF’s longest chapter, the prologue from A Clash of Kings. In this chapter we get to meet for the first time some of our favorite characters: Stannis Baratheon (formerly known as “The One True King of Westeros”), Davos Seaworth and Melisandre from Asshai.

Quick Summary: After pondering about the meaning of the red comet in the sky, Cressen, Maester on Dragonstone, learns from Davos that no more Lords will pledge loyalty to Stannis and that many have sided with his younger brother, Renly. Worried, he urges Stannis to form an alliance with Renly or Robb Stark, which Stannis obviously refuses. Hearing the news, his wife, Selyse, suggests that Stannis attack King’s Landing and that they should assassinate Renly. Cressen then realizes that Stannis is under the influence of Melisandre, a priestess from Asshai, and decides to poison her at the banquet that night. Unfortunately for him, the full extent of her powers is yet to be seen...

ADWD Daenerys IX (A Song of Ice and Fire Reread #5)

Today, the Hype’s Watch brings you the excitement of the Meereenese fighting pits with A Dance with Dragons, Dænerys IX.

Quick Summary:To celebrate her marriage and the newfound peace in Meereen, Daenerys accompanies her husband Hizdahr Zo Loraq to the reopening of the fighting pits. As she watches men and beasts kill each other she reflects on the difficulties of ruling the city and on all the compromises she’s had to make. However, the sight of a boar gutting a pit fighter is more than she can stand. As she’s about to leave the pit, arrives Drogon who starts feasting on the flesh of the slayed and wrecking havoc around him. Scared for her dragon’s life, Dany jumps into the pit to try and subdue him. As she climbs onto his back to jerk off a spear that was planted there, Drogon’s wings unfold and they both take off.

Today, the Hype’s Watch invites you to our exploration of A Storm of Swords, Sansa VII. This epic chapter that starts out as a melancholic reflection on Sansa’s childhood, ends up with some of the most shocking revelations of the series.

Quick Summary: Sansa wakes up in the Eyrie feeling lonely and, realizing it is snowing, decides to go outside and builds a snow castle. After being alone for a while, Petyr Baelish arrives to help her and takes that opportunity to kiss her. Then Sweetrobin arrives and start destroying her snow castle with his doll. Sansa becomes furious and rips off the doll’s head sending Robert into a shaking fit. Later that day Lysa sends for her and starts accusing her of trying to seduce Petyr and almost throws her out of the moon door. Petyr arrives and tries to stop Lysa. In her grief she starts screaming of all the things she ever did for him including poisoning her husband Jon Arryn. He pushed her out the Moon Door and tells Sansa to let the guards in and tell them Marillion has just killed Lysa.
