see the problem with analyzing Orientalism in music—besides the fact that in 2026 the critique of Orientalism has never been less widely accepted, is in fact widely ridiculed—to the point it’s insane to me people allude to it as a granted fact—or that even in text or visual art where the analysis originated and thrives it has always been highly contactable for a variety of reasons—no the real reason is that if you like look at it in video games, typically the orientalist tracks are the bangers. that’s where people get to go fun with drums and [lutes]. it’s why exotica worked too

most underrated item in earthbound tbh it's both a perfect "quirky mother series item" concept and it serves a practical purpose. your inventory space is tiny and we keep throwing items at you but what if (!!) you could sell any item in your inventory at any time without needing to go all the way back to a shop? all you gotta do is dedicate a whole inventory slot to an item that lets you summon an NPC at any time who will show up out of nowhere buy one (1) sellable item from you then leave. 10/10 no notes
