Forgive Me, O Lord
The last time I made a post, it was sharing a quote someone had already posted. It was a quote from William C. Hannan about transformation. You can find this quote below.
2020 was a hard year. For everyone. There were a lot of firsts. A lot of things we couldn’t do. A lot of fear and fights and injustice. 2020 was a crap year. And I’m not going to rehash that year for everyone because we all know what happened. But what you don’t know is my story.
I look back at my posts today and my heart is so sad, because I fell so far from the person I used to be. I let the chaos of life harden my heart. But I still realize that God saved me from a life that wasn’t for me.
In 2017, I met a guy who I thought was the man God intended for me. But I was so wrong. The relationship was so so toxic. He was manipulative. He made me feel dumb and didn’t lead me to Christ. In the end, I was the one leading the relationship. But the weight was just too much to carry.
In the end, he made a decision that altered our relationship. Something only the grace of God allowed me to forgive. But that wasn’t enough for him. Because after I forgave him, he questioned my forgiveness if I even considered breaking up with him. He ended up breaking up with me two weeks later to date someone else.
And, honestly, I’m still struggling with forgiveness. Forgiveness of a different matter than the one before.
COVID sucked for everyone. But trying to find yourself again after a break up during COVID was the worst. There were so many tears. So many questions. I filled three journals with my thoughts for the next year or so. And then I graduated college. And things continued to get rough.
Rough meaning a cross-country move. And still figuring out my purpose.
Honestly, I am so lost. I am confused and I feel the farthest from God I’ve ever felt. I’m not going to church, I don’t have many friends I can talk about the gospel with. I’m completely and utterly lost.
I found my account again when I needed it. I’m not trying to be the girl I was before. I want to be her, but a wiser, bolder, more loving version of her.
So, I guess what I’m saying is this is day 1 of documenting my new journey.
A new season.
Lord, guide me well. Teach me. Give me the heart to believe, the ears to listen, the eyes to see, and the mind to understand.
I pray for peace and patience. Heal me, Lord.
Forgive me, O Lord.
Two years later and I still struggle with some things, but we have a compassionate God who understands our struggles and, instead of judging us, He is always there, waiting for us to call to Him. His patience is astounding. I am weak, but with Him I am made strong. I am made new.
