I kinda want to read something long tonight. Not really sure what genre, just something I can really get into. make me stay up til 3 lmao
The author riftintime on ff.net has written a collection of fantastic longer stories. A lot of them are AU’s, too.
Ghost Story by Mad_Maudlin… a fascinating COE fix it fic. Enthralled me from beginning to end with it’s originality and execution.
Non Linear by winterhill… Another original story that simply floored me. Immortal!Ianto done in a spectacular, angsty, unconventional way.
A Matter of Time by demotu… a crazy, sexy, fantastic adventure full of time travel and the ghosts of Jack’s past. Has basically everything you could think of and a few things you couldn’t. After I finished reading it I had to sit back and rethink my life for a while.
Jones and Harkness by Furious Dee… another AU, based on Wodenhouse’s Jeeves stories, as well as the tv show Jeeves and Wooster (you don’t need to know them to read the fic)
The Rose of Jericho by kaydeefalls… another COE fix it pretty well known in the fandom. It’s one of those that I just can’t forget. You can’t help but get sucked into it.
Guilt ‘Verse by etmuse… a series that explores what might have happened if Ianto had told Jack about Lisa before she got free, and before she completely lost her humanity. Excellent and full of heartbreak. Only problem is that it’s not complete, so you don’t get and ENDING ending, but still definitely worth the read.
Attrition by Lazuli… ugh. UGH. I love this fic. When Jack returns from his time with the Doctor, getting Ianto back is not easy. Especially since Ianto seems to have found someone else while he was gone. A truly epic relationship study/adventure that is incredibly well done. Includes some Ianto/OC, but ends with Janto. You gotta wade through a bucket load of angst to get there though.
Club Wales by pocky_slash… Gwen and Ianto friendship fans, this one is for you! While Jack is gone, the two become fast friends. This one makes me smile every time I read it. An amazing adventure and an amazing relationship.
From Which Come All Things by mclachlan… I don’t think this one is quite as long as the other ones (although I’m not sure… it might be) but it’s a fic that sucked me in and didn’t let me go until it broke my heart a few times and made me ship Ianto/John Hart for a little bit. Another one where Jack is gone with the doctor and things happen while he’s away. I really love this person’s word building ability and the pictures they paint with their words. A beautiful, Ianto-centric tale.
Captain’s Blog series by KahtyaSofia… a series of stories based on the BBC website’s Captain’s Blog entries for the episodes from s2. Covers a lot of genres and a lot of topics. It’s wildly entertaining.
Get Loved, Make More, Try to Stay Alive by Dira Sudis… so there’s some MPreg in this one, be warned. Essentially, Ianto’s dream of a family comes true… sort of. Angst angst angst and adorableness interspersed throughout.
The Oncoming Storm by d8rkmessngr… so um PLEASE read the warnings on this one if you’re going to read it. It’s incredibly dark and twisted. Someone messes with Jack’s timeline, and the Doctor picks up Jack during the London Blitz in 1941. Or does he? This fic is thrilling, gut-wrenching, and at times horrifying. Tread carefully.
