Goodmorning. It’s almost noon. It’s been a good day so far. I haven’t taken a bath yet, and I realized I shouldn’t really be putting too much pressure on myself to to the point I feel guilty when I haven’t yet, like I do everyday. Anyway, I woke up at about 9:30am, ate breakfast, made myself some iced coffee, and now I’m in my room using the laptop cause I remembered that I brought it home from McCoy’s yesterday. I was watching a movie (American Honey) and I thought about my tumblr. I opened it and I thought, good times. Saw my reblogs of Alex Turner, Gravity Falls, and Over the Garden Wall posts. Which brings me back to when I was 16, I’m turning 19 next week and I can say a lot has changed. I’m not sure whether I’ve become better or I back pedaled (is this a word??) a bit.
I’m going to college soon, and I’ve been having mixed feelings about it. Mostly fear. My mom’s surprised cause she says when she was in my position she was excited. And I guess at some point I was, when I was 16 and I thought I was going to study in Manila for senior high school. Though I can’t say I didn’t feel excitement now and then. Maybe a few seconds when compiled could be about a minute or two. Maybe I’ll be excited once I’m there and see that it isn’t so bad after all. Actually thinking about it, I’m looking forward to making new friends. But I really don’t wanna jinx it so I try not to talk about it so much. I’m just hoping things turn out well.
There are things I’ve done throughout the past 3 years that I’m not happy about. I used to think back then that I’ve become better than the person I was before. That I knew what I was doing, and that I’m smart enough not to do the things I shouldn’t do. But I realized I’m still young. So young. And I’ve a lot more to learn and there’s no way I’m gonna have it all figured out any time soon. I still have to work on being kinder, and not letting my hatred break through the shell that I’ve been keeping it in. I feel like I’ve let it out too much these past few years. I feel like, now, people see me as this girl with a cloud over her head following her all the time, especially my family. They’re the ones that see the way I am when I’m at home. I’m hoping time away will teach me a lot, and give me opportunities to change that. Maybe I’ll read the books my mom’s been bugging me to read. Maybe I’ll prioritize learning about Baha’i Faith again. Maybe I’ll put more effort into my physical health. Maybe I’ll choose better friends to hang out with.
I think the problem with me these past few years was that I forgot how important these things are. That sticking to what was comfortable and easy will never be what’s best for me. I don’t know. I’m just hoping and praying for the best this incoming chapter of my life. Maybe I’ll look back to this post and think to myself, it turned out well after all.
