With a grunt, Damian hit the ground. Breathing heavily, he lifted his head in your direction. Once he had confirmation you hadn’t seen him, he allowed his head to fall back onto the training mat. He layed flat on his back for some time before he rolled over and pushed himself up. He’d been trying to impress you with a backflip combination, but had miscalculated the distance from the beam to the ground, hence the ungraceful landing. Fortunately, you were too busy to notice; too busy with Tim. You were both hunched in front of his computer, exactly where you’d been for the past five hours. You were close enough you would be able to see anything impressive, but also far enough away to miss him falling. Repetitively. Damian trudged over to the bench near the bathroom, glaring at Tim when he placed a hand on your shoulder. He couldn’t stand how close you two were. It nauseated him. He’d been trying to get your attention all day, but you were too busy typing away. With him. Angrily, he opened a water bottle, but his grip was too tight, and the water splashed all over him. Scowling at the stained spot on the front of his shirt, he tossed the half empty bottle aside and peeled off the wet piece of clothing.
Your P.O.V. You sighed, letting your head fall onto the keyboard. You heard a thump from another corner of the cave, but it took you a moment to raise your head. When you did, all you saw was Damian laying down on the training mats. You glanced at Tim, who was busily looking over case files. You’d spent the better part of two hours attempting to help him, until he’d stopped you, saying it would be more helpful to type in the information himself. So you’d used the rest of that time typing and retyping different ways to tell Damian you liked him. “Ugh, this is hopeless Tim. I have no idea what to do.” You placed your head over your folded arms, sighing deeply. He looked up from his papers to offer you a sympathetic smile. “Maybe you could just talk to him?” He offered. “No, I’ve tried that. He just brushed me off and walks away.” Tim placed his hand on your shoulder comfortingly. “He does like you, Y/n, he’s just not good at showing it.” You peeked out at him from under a curtain of your hair. “Really?” He nodded, giving you an encouraging pat. “You got this. Go talk to him.” He motioned to the far side of the batcave. Gathering up your courage, you sat up straight. ‘I can do this,’ you thought, ‘if I can be batgirl I can talk to Damian Wayne.’ You stood, and were just about to walk towards him when you glanced his way, only to see him strip off his shirt and toss it aside, revealing his glorious stomach. His muscles flexed as he shoved several things into his gym bag, tossing the whole thing over his shoulder before storming out the door. Your mouth had fallen open at some point, and it stayed that way as you fell back into your chair, face unmoving. “Y/n,” Tim tried, waving his hand in front of your face. When that didn’t work, he shook your shoulders. “Y/n, don’t make me throw my coffee at you,” he warned. You blinked several times, closing your mouth and swallowing hard. “He didn’t have his shirt on,” you mumbled, still avoiding Tim’s gaze. “Louder, Y/n. What’s wrong?” Tim’s brows were furrowed with worry. “He didn’t have his shirt on.” You said louder, causing Tim to groan. He ran a hand down his face as he turned his chair back to his side of the desk, muttering something about teenagers and hormones.

You shivered slightly against the wind as you stood on a rooftop with everyone else. You hadn’t seen Damian for the rest of the day, which was good, because you’re sure you would’ve died if you tried to have another conversation with him. For Tim, however, it was not good. He’d had to listen to Damian complaining about how you didn’t like him for the past week, and now he had to deal with you as well. He’d decided it was time to go to some extreme measures, extreme measures meaning getting Jason and/or Dick to help. He’d found both of them in the batcave half an hour before patrol, and filled them in on the plan. Dick was gonna go with Batman and make sure he stayed on the other side of Gotham while Jason and Tim worked their magic. --------- It was time to split up into pairs, and you mentally groaned when Bruce said you and Damian were going to be patrolling together. As if it wasn’t already awkward enough between the two of you. Dick and Bruce were going to be patrolling lower Gotham, Jason and Tim the side by Gotham bridge, leaving you and Damian to cover the upper part of the city. It was a twenty minute run going rooftop to rooftop before you arrived at your assigned patrol area. Two painful minutes of conversation later, you and Damian agreed to split up, check out a few notorious alleyways and some less secure banks, then meet in the same place in half an hour. Looking back at Damian, you caught him backflip off the side of the building, then heard his suit sliding down the maintenance latter. What you didn’t see was Damian falling off said latter and onto the ground, thankful you hadn’t seen that. You ran off in your direction, Damian in his, just as Tim and Jason arrived. They took off their masks, Jason flashing his brother a brief smirk as they got to work. ------
Half an hour later, you were back, just when you were supposed to be. But there was no sign of Damian anywhere. Thinking he must’ve gotten held up with some crime, you unclipped your katana sheath from your back, setting your beloved swords down on the gravelly rooftop. You dropped into a backbend, quickly kicking over and standing up. You repeated the action several more times before switching to cartwheels. You stopped suddenly to contemplate weather or not you could cartwheel on the edge of the building. After deciding the answer was yes, you began to cartwheel the perimeter of the roof, occasionally throwing in a backflip or back handspring. When you got to the far side of the roof, you noticed something large and black hanging down the side of the building you were standing on. Righting yourself, you stepped a bit closer, only to suddenly find yourself slipping and falling headfirst into…whatever the large black shape was. You squeezed your eyes shut, and moments later you were submerged in water. Pushing yourself up, you gasped for air as your head broke the surface. It seemed like you were in some sort of…giant bag? It slightly resembled a balloon, probably about ten feet deep, and there was no way you’d be able to get out. You pressed the button on your com, but nothing happened. Not even static. “Seriously? What the crap, Bruce. You can be Batman, but you can’t make waterproof com’s?” You angrily hit the top of the water. Taking in a big breath, you dove down, trying to reach the bottom. It was probably six feet deep, but you couldn’t quite reach the bottom. You sighed. “I hope Damian gets here soon.”

Damian had only run into two crooks, one mugging someone in an alley, and another trying to hold up a gas station. He’d spent the remainder of his half hour trying to think of what to talk to you about, seeing as how you would be together for the rest of the night. “Hello, Y/n. How was your patrol? I’m sure that you did very well- no. That sounds idiotic.” He sighed in frustration as he tried again. “Y/n, it is nice to see you unharmed. Not that I thought you would be harmed, you are a very capable fighter, I just- ugh. Why is this so difficult.” He scowled at the ground as he continued walking. Several more attempts at planning a conversation ended in failure, and before Damian knew it he was approaching the building you’d agreed to meet at. Climbing up the same latter he’d fallen off, he looked around the roof top, expecting to see you back and flipping off earlier something. Instead, he was met with empty space. Well, almost empty. His keen eyes caught a glint of metal, and upon closer inspection he recognized it as your katanas. His mind jumped to several different conclusions, most of them being you were kidnapped. Angry at himself for not being back sooner to look after you, he threw his mask at the ground. A faint sound in the distance caught his attention, and he paused to listen. “Dami? Damian! Damian, help me!” He instantly recognized the sound of your voice calling his name. “Y/n?” He called out, starting towards you when he heard you call out again. “Damian, help me! I’m down here!” He quickly ran toward the edge of the rooftop, but once he got there his foot slipped on something, and he suddenly fell. Next thing he knew he was wet, and you were treading water next to him. As soon as he had poked his head out of the water, you’d pounced on him. “You’re here! Damian, you’re here, oh my gosh.” Your wet frame clung to him, and he noticed you were shivering about the same time you noticed how close you were. You moved away from him and began to tread water again, although your muscles protested painfully. “Habibti, how long have you been in here?” He asked in concern. “Umm, ten minutes, maybe.” You said, teeth chattering. Damian found a good footing before opening his arms. “Come here,” he instructed. You quickly swam into his arms, which he protectively encircled you with, holding you close to his toned chest. “We will get out of here, I promise.” He said, letting go of you with one arm to reach down his leg. He quickly unfastened a knife and set to work cutting handholds in the side of the tarp, as far up as he could reach. He ushered you out before climbing out himself, helping push you onto the roof. Once you were both up, he helped you collect your katanas and was about to suggest you start heading back when he noticed how cold you were, only then realizing that he himself was cold as well. “We should be close to one of the safe houses, we should go get a dry change of clothes before we go back.” You nodded in agreement, too cold to talk. You silently followed Damian as he led the way to the safehouse. Once you got there, he realized he didn’t have the key, and so had to break in through the window. The safe house was a small apartment, hardly stocked and bare of any furnishings, except for a small couch, and a queen bed in the back room. Damian produced some towels from a cupboard in the bathroom, handing you two. “Dry yourself off, I’ll go find where Bruce hid our suits.” He walked off, leaving you to attempt to dry yourself. Several minutes later, and you were colder than you’d started out. Your suit was so wet that it was making it impossible for you to get warm. ‘I’m gonna have to take it off eventually, right?’ You thought to yourself. Sighing, you silently hoped Damian wouldn’t hurry back too quickly. You unzipped your suit and slowly peeled the wet material off your body. Goosebumps rose along your skin as the frigid air hit you. You sat down on the couch as you pulled your shoes off, then stripped the rest of your suit off your legs. You folded the wet material up and placed it on the floor. You’d just barley wrapped your towel around your barley covered body when you heard someone clear their throat behind you. Whipping around, you saw Damian standing there, one arm outstretched, holding a dry suit. You slowly stood and walked over to him, gently taking the clothing from his grasp. His face was blank, but you swore you could see a faint red hinting at his cheeks. “We didn’t have any of your suits here, so I hope its ok if you use one of my old ones.” He didn’t really give you a chance to answer, simply brushing past you and walking to the corner, where he started stripping. Given your history of staring at him when he’s not fully clothed, you quickly turned your eyes away and begin pulling your-err, Damian’s, suit on. Your frozen hands fumbled with the material for several minutes, noticing out of the corner of your eye that Damian had finished dressing. Once you had the suit over most of your body, you padded over the older boy, eyes glued to the ground. “Um, Damian? Can you help me, please?” You asked, pulling your hair to the side as he walked behind you. “You cannot do this yourself?” His tone was one of annoyance, but he secretly loved the excuse to be near you. His fingers quickly pulled the zipper up your back, clasping it at the top. “Well, its just that this one zips in the back, and my suit zips up the front, so I just…” You trailed off as his hands stilled on your hips. You realized just how close you were when you felt his breath blow past your ear, feeling his hard chest press against your back. You slowly turned around, looking up into his green eyes as his hands settled once more on your waist, pulling you closer to him. “I’ve been trying to come up with a clever way to tell you I like you, but I guess I’ll just tell you.” You smiled at him. “Dami, you just did.” He hummed softly. “I love it when you call me that.” He gently rested his forehead against yours, never taking his eyes off your e/c ones. “I’d very much like to kiss you now. May I?” You nodded your head slightly, and his lips slowly met yours. Your heart starts missing beats as his lips softly press into yours, and you kiss him back. One of his hands move to cup your face, his fingers brush away a stray piece of hair as he continues to kiss you, his hand moving again to the back of your neck. Once you broke apart, he kept his forehead against yours, pressing his lips to yours in short bursts. His breath fanned across your face as he parted from you again. “I take it you like me as well?” He asked, hesitancy seeping into his tone. You nodded your head, and his expression changed to one of relief. “I’d like to take you on a date, but we should probably get back to the manor first.” He said, pressing a few quick kisses to your lips. You nodded in agreement, breaking away from his embrace to collect your things, heart racing.
*Outside*
“Not bad, Drake. We actually pulled that off.” Jason looked over at the other boy, a proud smirk on his face. “Yeah, we did, didn’t we?” Tim raised his eyebrows in approval, peering back into the apartment window in time to see you and Damian walking out the door. “But what about the water sack? What are we supposed to do about that?” “I don’t know, just tell Batman it was the Riddler or something.” Jason shrugged as he began descending the fire escape. “Huh, ok. I guess that’ll work,” he muttered to himself as he followed the older boy. Once they reached the ground, they began walking towards their ‘borrowed’ car. Twenty minutes later, they had the car returned and were walking up to the entrance to the batcave. After a moment of looking, they found the hidden door. “You know, Jason, I really have to thank you for helping me solve my problem,” Tim said, taking off his gloves and pressing his hand against the palm scanner. “Nah, you don’t.” Jason removed his gloves and did the same. The scanner beeped, and the door quickly opened. “Oh no, I really do. Damian’s room is right next to yours.” Tim took off, sprinting hard to get away before his words could resonate. “…right next to my room. What does that...Drake! No! Get back here! I’m gonna beat you, get back here!”
