Hi, sorry, but I just wanted to ask a question regarding me writing Jeremy as a Jewish character. Iâve done research but I donât quite trust all the sites Iâve visted to not be whitewashed.
So, in summary, when Jeremyâs mom left, he and Mr. Heere kinda stopped âcelebratingâ Shabbat (they still lit the candles and had challah n stuff, but it was kinda quiet and they didnt really interact). And then, when Mr. Heere shapes up they reconcile with a proper Shabbat and its a nice friendly dinner scene with father-son bonding.
Would this be a bad idea? I dont think it is but, obviously, im no expert.
dude i am SO SORRY I HAVENâT ANSWERED THIS BEFORE TODAY. omfg, PLEASE WRITE THIS FIC AND SEND ME THE LINK WHEN YOUâRE DONE, THIS SOUNDS SO AWESOME. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL CONCEPT AND I JUST đđđđđđ if i may add: jeremy making challah when his dad isnât really pleased with the world and he burns himself and sets the table himself and jeremy feels :(Â
also, for good sources when researching jewish stuff (you can always ask me, btw) but for websites you can trust:
reformjudaism.org (itâs specifically geared to Reform Judaism, obviously, which is the branch i follow and headcanon the heeres to as well, but thatâs just my hcÂ
this isnât an exhaustive list, merely what immediately came to mind for međ
in addition, there is an AMAZING YouTube channel, bimbam, that has a whole playlist full of episodes about judaism that are fun and easy to get through & understand. their judaism 101 playlist is a great place to start (it was at this point tumblr said no â€ïž to letting me have links, so itâs at https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLT3E92DW2HbgCWnm6m1iBCFhHTiT9j0nc )Â
please, i beg you, send me this fic when youâve written it. it sounds BEYOND AMAZING.
