Without predators the population will be uncontrolled, reproduction will rates will rise and every animal on earth will be reliant on plants for nutrients. More animals + all of them eating plants means that they’ll end up depleting their food source and starve.

How is slowly starving to death a better option than a relatively quick death at the hands of a predator?
