Lesser appreciated varieties of shipping:

I ship it for the sake of narrative or thematic symmetry

I ship the idea of them, but their actually getting together in canon would ruin it for me

I don’t ship it myself, but one of the other characters clearly does, and I’m a fan of them shipping it

I headcanon that they were an item in the past and it ended in disaster, thereby explaining their present dynamic

I ship it mostly because them being together would annoy a third character so much

I ship it because nobody else does

I’m not emotionally invested in it, but the intellectual puzzle of figuring out what bizarre sequence of events would be needed to make it happen is fascinating

Okay, today for fanfiction reasons I was looking for other ways to say forest and discovered that what HOLT MEANS!

Of courses, Pidge’s real name would be connected to the forest but I had no flippen idea holt was a real word!? I just thought it was a made-up last name or an Italian based one because of Pidge’s heritage. (even my spell check didn’t recognize holt as a word unless it has a capitalized.) Holt: noun ARCHAIC•DIALECT

noun: holt; plural noun: holts

a wood or wooded hill.

Origin: Old English, of Germanic origin; related to Middle Dutch hout and German Holz, from an Indo-European root shared by Greek klados ‘twig’.

Was I just extra dense, or did other people not know this? Also Holt can mean:

the den of an animal, especially that of an otter. So now I’m picturing the Holts as a group of otters and that warms my heart.
