Omg this year is my final year of high school before i have to graduate and become a functioning member of society and I have been sooooo busy that I have literally read the smallest number of book in the entire world, I’ve gone from reading maybe 4 books a week to literally 10 in around 5 months I just don’t have time anymore and it makes me so sad, alsoI got a huge library fine at the end of last year and have been unable to go back and as I don’t actually buy any new books I have slowly been getting through some classic books that I bought secondhand like I am Asher Lev by Chaim Potok, and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin both of which are phenomenally incredible!  I am going to try after the ball is over (prom which I am helping to plan) to read some more books as I really miss it.

2015 Reading Goal

My reading goal for this year isn't to read a certain amount of books, or to read any in particular. My goals is....

To actually record every book I read this year!

This sounds pretty easy but almost every single time I try to do it I forget about it, miss books out, can't remember what I read so every month I will (hopefully *fingers crossed*) post a full list of every book I read in the month.

This might be potentially quite boring but I'm actually really excited as I've never known every book I have read in any given year.

So bring on the 1st of February!

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

When I go to the library at the moment I go with no clue what-so-ever of what books I'm going to make it home with.

Since I have sadly read the way through most of the teen fiction section of the adult library, I just go straight for the new book shelf and pick anything that looks good.

When I saw a new book by Scott Westerfeld I was super excited. Having read the entire Uglies series, Peeps, So Yesterday and the Leviathan series my excitement was rather valid.

I was not disappointed in the slightest Afterworlds is amazing start to finish.The two protagonists Lizzie and Darcy are both identifiable and interesting characters that keeps you entertained in both of their narratives, rather than one of the dual stories becoming more important than the other.

Which is normally the case in books like these and you end up skipping part of the book, because you don't really care what happens to one protagonist. 

There's not many books that deliver in so many genres, it fulfills all my paranormal romance needs while still being a book about real people doing real things.

The books is to different books that are entirely dissimilar, yet at the same time reveal something interesting about both protagonists and how that are connected.

I would definitely recommend this book as I haven't read one quite like it in a very long time.

Banning Books: Not just fiction?

A couple of months ago I came across a list of the top five books banned in America of 2013. I was kind of shocked to discover that banning books is a legitimate thing. In little ole New Zealand I'm reasonably certain that this isn't a thing and doen't happen.

On this list were three books I had read. The absolutely true diary of a part time Indian by Sherman Alexie, Thirteen reasons Why by Jay Asher, and the lovable if immature Captain Underpants series. And why in the hell were these books banned at all not in the least of the top five list of most banned.

One is a series of childern's books, that literally is one of the most memorable series of my childhood apart from those godawful rainbow magic series (it took me 30 book to realise the only differences in the story where the characters and when I did figure it out my reaction was ugly.) The other two novels I understand more as they are based on slightly controversial topics, but still banning a book?

They educate people on the lesser know issues and raise awareness of different ideal. But then again knowledge is always a dangerous thing.

So something occured to me...Movies vs. Books

The ending of the movie How I Live Now is different to the end of the book! Strangely I actually watched the movie before I read the book, on a plane from Bangkok to Dubai. It was so earth shatteringly moving+sad that I immediately wanted to read the book. And I was not disappointed the book was even better than the movie if that's at all possible but the ending were different and bizarrely I like the movies ending better, which is really odd because generally movies are better than books. The actress from the Lovely Bones played the protagonist Daisy exceptionally. This book is amazing what I really liked was the subtle subplot of anorexia going on, it wasn't too predominate allowing the idea to come through that there are people behind illnesses and illnesses don't necessarily define people. Thoroughly enjoyable seamlessly written it makes me intrigued to see what else Meg Rosoff has written.

Such scandal I actually read a book before it arrived at the library?

I received this book from an amazing friend. (And read it within a day.) Wow holy crap this book was fantastic a little bit slow going at the beginning, but got really good and by the end it was nail biting. Huge surprise at the end! Don't want to spoil the book though. If you are eagerly awaiting this installment of the bloodlines series or have never read it before, it really is formidable.

So I got nothing done on Monday because...

I was reading Breaking Butterflies by M. Anjelais, I picked it because it had a really pretty cover and it had a recommendation by Lucy Christopher the author of Stolen (which I loved and  have recommended to sooo many people in my english class who want a good "real life" book. So I thought to myself I'll just read a couple of chapters but it was so good, I read the entire book with an hour or so. It was intense and at the same time really messed up. Cadence is such a great character, great in that love to hate and be intrigued by way.I normally just read fantasy, dystopian, sci-fi and crime novels but recently i'm getting really into psychological thrillers.

Today I finished the Everneath triolgy....

With the last book in the Everneath trilogy (I'm pretty sure it's the last one) Evertrue by Brodi Ashton and I just feel so disappointed I waited three bloody books for Nikki and Cole to be together and he has to go and DIE. What the hell man why would you purposely kill yourself? Just because you're never going to get the girl doesn't mean you should just give up your immortality and die! Hell I feel a bit let down they weren't particularly good books I just wanted Nikki and Cole to be together, that was it my only expectation but noooooo.

Holly Black and Melissa Marr are Faery Queens

So I got two short story collections yesterday, one by Holly Black called The Poison Eaters and one by Melissa Marr called Faery Tales and NIghtmares. I don't normally like short story's the only other collection I have liked (or gotten entirely through) was Zombies vs. Unicorns which is AMAZING read it.But I did really enjoy these two short story collections especially in The Poison Easters one of the short story's was called The Coldest Girl In Cold Town. Which Is another actual book by Holly Black but with another plotline but the same setting. I was like OMGOMGOMG that's where the idea came from! So from that moment on I enjoyed it. The Poison Eaters was probably the better of the two purely because all the story's were unrelated and unique. Whereas Faery Tale and Nightmares has many story's related to the Wickey Lovely series.

Went to the library today....

I got eight books out and have so far read three! Pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

Firstly I read Spies and Prejudice by Talia Vance which while didn't have a particularly good plot line or characters....had a few moment of greatness.

Then I read Relic by Renee Collins which was actually pretty decent but somehow was really slow going and not particularly exciting even thought heaps was happening which was odd.

The I read Messy by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. I got this book out because a couple of weeks ago I found the first book of this series Spoiled and it had the best quote ever on the front I didn't even read the blurb I just got it. It was... "You say spoiled like its a bad thing" which was so fantastic that it made my day. The sequel was exactly like the first in excitement levels and drama! It's like those trashy reality t.v. series that you help but un-ironically love.

I cannot believe I actually finished....

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. I decided to buy this book when I was in France for a bit of light reading because in The Infernal Device's it's one of Tessa's favourite books. I was quite startled when I realised that this wasn't anywhere near light reading. It was quite hard to get into for a start but by the end I was on the edge of my seat I don't think I've read a book that so much actually happens within 600 or so pages. It was like a really old fashioned intricate soap opera.I enjoyed it but it was a bit hard going in places because in parts it has extremely flowery language. I would say give it a go because of you can get past the style of writing it is actually a really good book.

Yesterday I Read...

The Book Thief By Markus Zusak 

I wont lie I cried, maybe I bawled my eyes out, you never know.

Absolutely fabulous book, amazing incite into the lives of people in WW2 it really makes you think.

I loved the fact that the book was was narrated by the personification of Death.
