Tressa x Everitt - Meeting
Pagan Pride in their town wasn’t a big event, but it was growing every year. It was big enough now that it has one, at the least. Tressa tried to set a booth up, selling a few things, reading tarot. It was a place that she normally ran into friends she only saw once or twice a year. That was exactly what happened, when Trenton and a group of people walked by and greeted her.
Everitt couldn’t help himself when he saw such a beautiful specimen. Trenton and the others always found it amusing, but he just felt a connection. Some of his relatives liked to pee on them, which they could agree would be a less appropriate reaction. The tree at the end of the aisle was shaped too good for climbing to pass up. He hadn’t stayed long, not to delay them too much, but it was why he was inspecting the sap on his hand when he caught up to the group stopping at this particular booth. At least he hadn’t fallen into a body of water this time, which had its less fortunate side effects, but also made the others howl with laughter, so he put it down as a net positive, anyway. Trenton and the others were saying their hellos. Not to be rude, Everitt quit debating licking his palm and dropped his hand to his side. “Sorry, hi, who’s this, then?” he asked, looking over from behind the group with a cheerful smile.
Tressa was playing with a flower crown she was just putting the finishing touches on, her hands gently coaxing the broken stems to stay in place, fingers shifting petals to better positions. She had a bucket of cut peonies from her own garden behind the card table she had draped a tablecloth over and set up behind. When Trenton walked by she waved–he was one of those friends that she only saw a few times a year, this being one of them. She sat the flower crown down on her card deck to stand up and give him a hug, waving to a few of the other acquaintances she didnt know quit as well. One of them Trenton was gesturing to, pulling him in, as he seemed to be distracted. “You haven’t met Everitt, have you?” Trenton asked. “No”, she replied, raising one hand to wave at the new guy. “Hi, I’m Tressa.”
The friend of his friend was introducing herself as Trenton pulled Everitt into view for a proper meeting. “Tressa,” he repeated her name as he met her gaze, to remember both. He liked the way it sounded, and the spark of connection as soon as their eyes met. “Everitt,” he offered his hand for a shake, the stickiness from his detour luckily on the other one. He wasn’t sure if it had been long enough to be awkward when he pulled his hand back, as it was only when he realized how long he’d been instinctually reading her soul in her deep brown eyes might be even more so. “That’s quite wonderful,” he said before they’d fully broken the look. He was referring to the crown that had clearly been made by her hand he had spotted once he was able to take his focus off Tressa. He cleared his throat lightly and nodded toward her craft by way of explaining himself, though the sentiment applied to gazing into her eyes as well, if he was honest
“Everitt,” She said his name as well, taking his hand as he offered it, moving around Trenton to better face the newcomer. “Yes, pleasure to meet you,” Her voice still had a lilt of British colonialism so often in people of her nationality, inherited from her ex-Pat parents. Her smile was full and bright as she greeted him. She had met lets of people this way, and networked as well. However, this was different, she could tell right away. Her interest was immediately piqued. He had long, artful fingers, and she only vaguely noticed and appreciated that because she was meeting his eyes. The look was intense, and she felt, important. Already she was smiling, unable to help herself. His words, it took her a moment, to realize might have more meaning. “Thank you,” She said, her voice softer and truer to her real self than before. She put a finger up to the crown of flowers. “Everything’s from my garden." Trenton put a hand on Tressa’s shoulder. "Yeah, Tressa’s like, the local hedge witch around here with THE garden. Plus, she owns the riding stables and all that.” She smiled, ducking her head a bit. Trenton continued, “It’s just too bad that we only really get to see each other at these things.” He teased, then looked from one to the other, oblivious.
He looks at her and blinks slowly, waiting for her to realize what she just said. If she did, she could probably finish his sandwich.
“Tre,” he gave the smallest snort of amusement, “how often you forget I don’t w-”
She did. She realized, and closed her eyes with a sigh. It was really refreshing that he didn’t keep up with pop culture, but it was something that she sometimes did just forget. “Well, he’s really famous to some people. And he seems like a cool guy. I think.” You could never really tell with celebrities, could you. She crossed her arms. “I would think of asking for an autograph, but, you know.”
“Mmm. That’s good.” He was already moving away, though not as quickly as he appeared, some flower or other having caught his eye. There was a beat before he responded, but he was listening. He was crouched over something now. “I’m afraid I don’t.”
“Oh…my god. Is that Catcher Foxx????”

Catcher Foxx? I don’t even know her.
She jumps a little, not having heard him come up, and gives him a double take.
“He’s a very famous movie star!”
He looks at her and blinks slowly, waiting for her to realize what she just said. If she did, she could probably finish his sandwich.
