Forgetting
I'm starting to forget your face.
I remembered once when I fell a scraped myself. You bandaged a my arms and legs, hugged me through my pointless tears. I can't seem to remember what you looked like.
Did you have curly long hair?
Were your hands soft?
Was you face as sweet as your laugh?
What did your smile look like?
Wait... What did your voice sound like?
Maybe if I could see you just once more or be held in your arms I could remember. But won't ever happen will it.
Because it seems that I'm starting to forget your name.

WEEKLY BOOK 3
Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio REVIEW
3.6 out of 5 Stars
While taking a quick Forgotten Realms break, I decided to pick up this book again after starting it on the way back from a trip I took with my girlfriend, and while I'd love to say I devoured this book in one sitting back then (which I should've done), that's obviously wrong. It ended up being more of a 2-sitting deal.
Now to get to the actual book: It's a pretty character-centric sort of ensemble novella about a ragtag group of increasingly insomniac people who live in some fictional Uni-Town who can't smoke on campus, leading them all to the same smoke spot: a totally not creepy abandoned cemetery.
Their usual rhythm gets disturbed when a mysterious man digs a new grave and hijinks ensue.
The ensuing hijinks are great, and I love reading about all the different characters, and I honestly enjoyed every single one of them, although you get very limited time with each of them.
However, the ending is where I got a little sad, as it felt like it happened much earlier than I would've liked and expected. It genuinely made me check if my e-reader was fucked up and look for the physical copy in my room.
I know it's silly to cry about an undefined and early ending to a novella of all things, especially since the author's intent was obviously just to be subtle and open-ended, but I'm immature and sad.
Without spoiling the book's contents, it's hard to explain why I dislike the ending, but the book is still very much worth a read (especially since it doesn't take long).
I added another one of the author's books to my to-read list, which also speaks for the quality of this one, but as much as I enjoyed it, I'm still a sad little sausage.
Obligatory picture to make me feel better
