The Princess Bride (1987) dir. Rob Reiner
"The little truth here is the admission that the love that was distracting him was for Molloy, not for Louis." - Assad Zaman
FIFTY TWO YEARS I'VE WATCHED YOU.
“Oh nooo I can’t believe you love me! Ew! Look, I’m gagging! I’m gagging so hard I need you to prove it! Go ahead, prove your love to me! Kiss me on the mouth you coward!!!!!” or whatever Daniel said this episode, don’t remember the exact quote

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE | Season 3, Episode 5, "New York"
Every once in a while, I wish the friendship meter from the Sims was real so that way when people tell me "I used Chat-GPT" they can visually see just how much respect I just lost for them in that moment.
One time an acquaintance told me she entered Snape's star chart into chatgpt and I could physically feel that meter dropping three separate times over the course of her sentence
does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes?
The concept of Sam and Assad fanboying over Devil's Minion is so cute.
Daniel, that traumatized former slave from Delhi who was forced to submit to other men’s sexual predations did not unleash his inner repressed psychosexual fantasies on you during one memorable week in San Francisco for you to call him the bottomest bitch.
(I’m sorry… my contribution to the fandom of the ever stellar IWTV! Devil’s minion!)
daniel is floundering because he’s relapsed and he has transformational trauma and lestat is a brat, yes all of that is true. but this shit with lestat is also not his preferred mode of interview. in iwtv 1.1 he says “i do my best work one-on-one”, partially to get fake rashid/ armand out of the room, but also because it’s true. he’s an investigative journalist, not a documentarian, nor does he do “puff portraiture” (also 1.1). cut to 3.3 and he not only has a whole crew watching him try desperately not to look like he’s doing a puff portrait documentary, but he’s conducting the interview through an “interrotron”, a screen with disembodied heads mounted in front of the person he’s “interviewing” except it isn’t an interview, it’s an interrogation (it’s in the name of the device!). this situation couldn’t get more impersonal, couldn’t be more out of his depth, and it’s happening in front of a room of 40 professionals whose time are being wasted because daniel suddenly can’t do the job that’s been his lifeline, the ONLY constant in his world, for 50 years. AND armand won’t talk to him. that old man is about to throw a tantrum and i cannot wait
thinking of this post again after 3×4, with the addition that daniel was seemingly the most hurt/interested in the assurance that dubai (and his investigative skills by extension) was REAL. he's still clinging to the skillset and role that defines him. the skillset that had armand "under daniel's spell" and enthralled by him all these years.
The fact that everyone around him is mad at Armand for being evil and unhinged but Daniel is just mad for being abandoned + jealous of Louis
He welcomed dig after dig from Lestat, completely unaffected by all of them. Then you bring up Armand? The mere suggestion that Dubai was a lie was enough to make Daniel look utterly heartbroken
Then their confrontation after the show. Armand trying to warn him about the great conversion, guess what? He doesn’t give a fuck. He just wants to know if Dubai was real for him and if he turned him out of lingering feelings for Louis! This ship is going places people!
+ they are shown discussing Gabriella on one of the clips from the next episode. Meaning not only are they still around each other and chatting, but Armand is spilling all the gossip on the whole incest thing
Daniel calling Armand friendless and a shitty dad who abandons his kid
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (2022-) | S03E04
To the people saying, “Oh but Eric didn’t play Daniel as being attracted to Armand, therefore devil’s minion doesn’t make any sense”
What are you talking about?! Look back, it’s subtle but you’ll see this grouchy old man can’t help but glance at ✨Armand’s chesticles✨ Don’t listen to what he’s saying look at HIS EYES
HIS
EYES
TELLS THE STORY
(There’s probably more examples I just don’t really have time to look for them right now)
BONUS
Also go back and watch how when Daniel first meets/sees Louis he says ‘hi’ and immediately looks away. But when he sees Armand for the first time, ✨HIS EYES ARE LOCKED IN! ✨ He does not look away.
This is Daniel’s subconscious reminding him that he has seen Rashid/Armand before, but it’s also a wake up call about his deep seated attraction to Armand. It’s after this memory when he really starts to take notice of Armand.
But all that shit I was carrying, this guy erased it all, brother. So what's this god's name?
