Three years ago I decided, after en entire summer of binge watching Blue Water High, that I meeeee to go surfing. I always thought it seemed cool. Biarritz was the only place I really knew about where there was surfing, so that's where I went. Spend roughly a month at @friends_of_aloha, studied some French (learned a lot actually) and surfed my arms off. I haven't been back since. Now we parked together with all the other vans above Cote des Basques, walked about town and surfed among the crowd. I likes it. (at Biarritz, France)

Things I've learned about #vanlife so far, positive and negative: Everywhere we've been has been beautiful. Amazing views, beaches and sunsets everyday. At least if you look from afar. Zoom in and there's garbage everywhere. Toilet paper, plastic bottles and more cigarette butts than should even be produced. Why can't people look at the beautiful earth and think that 'oh, maybe I shouldn't throw a bunch of crap on this beautiful spot'. People are mostly friendly. Since we we're robbed in the north of France, basically everyone we've met has been helpful and kind. A very drunk and dirty man in a Ford helped us a lot when our propane ran out. Sand. I hate sand. Heat is overrated. We've spent the last week being more or less sweaty and hot all the time. There's no escape. Spoils our food, makes us tires and grumpy and gross. Also surfing is very hard, but I already knew that. But most of all, it's not at all what I expected it to be, but at the same time, it's all that and more. Not so quiet and calm as I thought, but always adventurous and exciting. This was just the first 10 days. We have what now seems like an eternity to go.
