Wow! Here you can see Nikolay going from crawling to creeping to standing to walking with help to walking independently!! This Week's Update from the Clinic Nikolay, who just turned 7, is here this week for his revisit evaluation with his family. In January 2015, we featured Nikolay as he just started to take his first independent steps: https://iahp.org/nikolay-update/ Since his update, Nikolay has been making great progress -- he is now walking independently hundreds of meters a day and continues to grow intellectually. He is able to read and understand way above his age level and can share his thoughts both in Russian and English using Facilitated Communication. Here are just a few pictures of his mobility progress since he started the Institutes' Program and we look forward to giving you more updates about him along the way! Star of the Week - Radhey! Radhey, age 6, is here for his first revisit this week at the Institutes. Radhey was diagnosed with developmental delay as a toddler and although he enjoyed being around other kids, he had difficulty in social situations. He often would get too excited or upset by sounds. As he went to school, he started to fall behind his peers and the gap kept getting bigger. After learning about the Institutes' work, his parents attended the "What To Do About Your Brain-Injured Child" course 6 months ago and immediately started an intense program at home. Since January, Radhey has made excellent progress. He is reading for the first time in his life and loves to learn many new subjects. He is physically stronger and has great endurance and is able to do more things independently. With his health, he no longer has mucous build up, his appetite is excellent, and his sleep is better as well. Radhey is much healthier than he was before starting the program. In his language, he is now speaking much more spontaneously and can speak in sentences. He is much more sociable and makes better eye contact with new people and will go up to others and start conversations. Sounds that used to bother him 6 months ago are not nearly as much of a problem. In the last 6 months, Radhey's overall growth rate has been 121%, which 246% faster than his growth rate 6 months ago! We congratulate Radhey and his hard working family and wish them many more victories! (at The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential)
Star of the Week -- Matilde! Matilde is 5 years old and at a very young age was diagnosed as severely autistic, epiletic and microcephalic. By 2 years old, she was far below age level in all areas -- she could not understand words, had no language, and only scooted to get around. She had never walked before. At that time, she had seizures on a daily basis and was on anticonvulsant medication. Matilde and her family have worked very hard the last few years and they have made incredible gains. On the program, she has learned to crawl, creep and walk. With excellent nutrition and respiratory programs, Matilde was able to completely detoxify from anticonvulsants. She is incredibly smart and is able to read and understand way above her age level. As part of her language development, parents have made a word board so that Matilde and her family know what words she is able to say. She is now saying over two hundred words and many couplets of speech. Congratulations to Matilde and her family on the excellent results they have achieved!
Happy Birthday Leah!!! She celebrated in Malaysia at the What to do About Your Brain-Injured Child course! Chef Leah made her this incredible cake. 😍😍🎂 (at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

Star of the Week: Diego This week, the staff had the pleasure of seeing Diego and his family again for his 6th appointment at the Institutes. Originally diagnosed with #cerebralpalsy and #microcephaly, parents were told that he would not progress like other children. Since starting the program, Diego has learned to crawl, creep, walk, and run. He is now running 500m non-stop and has excellent endurance. He is able to read, and understands at his age level. In language, he now has 100 words of speech and is starting to speak more and more. His growth rate is 128% faster compared to before he started the program. Star of the Week - Daichi Daichi was diagnosed with Trisomy 21 at birth. When he was fifteen months of age, his mother attended the What to Do About Your Brain Injured Child course. At the time, Daichi understood just two words, he did not feel pain, and could only move a few feet on his belly on the floor. He had no speech. Mother went home to work with Daichi using all she had learned. A year later, Daichi could crawl all over the house, and had begun to walk. He was understanding many words and phrases. Today, Daichi is 3 years old, and his mother continues to work with him on a home treatment program every day. He is now understanding at his age level, and ahead of other kids his age by being able to read. His speech has doubled in the past year, and not only does he walk well, but he is running as much as 300 meters without stopping. He is a charming and friendly boy, and enjoys all of his daily activities with his family, cheering him on continually! (at The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential)
At the end of every "What to do About Your Brain-Injured Child" Course we go around the room and let parents tell us about their experiences. Here are some from the course in Pisa, Italy "The most important thing I learned is that the brain grows by use and now I know how to use it" "I learned that we only needed five days to become the best therapists for our child." "Thanks for giving me the tools I need to help my child become physically and intellectually excellent." "After this course, I can see my child's story isn't over, that there is a wonderful world of possibilities." "Thanks for giving me the answers I needed to help stop seizures." (at Pisa, Italy)
One little girl proves that brothers and sisters are a powerful force to help save the lives of brain-injured children. Parents of brain-injured children are often asked whether they have enough time for their well children. There is an almost universal assumption when a family makes the decision to give their hurt child a fighting …
