auti-manâ:
â  â but i win. â
chair creaks under his sudden shift of weight, tony kicking a foot out from beneath his workbench in smooth transition from soldering to conversation. carol danvers. always a joy to hear storming the castle whenever something heâs said inevitably finds its way back to her. only problem : heâs entirely unsure what sheâs referencing this time.
could be the phoned in interview for cbs, could be a lack of once clearly labeled â danvers do NOT EAT â sandwich material in their communal fridge.Â
â as much as i love when you talk cryptic to me, robin sparkles, iâm at a complete loss here. â sharp end of his tool is pointed her way, â do tell me more about these so - called stupid prizes. is it another one of your infamous dead arms ? youâve been backlogged on those for the better part of a month now. â Â
â...Okay--first of all, calling me Robin Sparkles is grounds for obliteration. Period.â Her imagination was already working into overdrive to imagine the searing photon blast through his chest, the sight turning her agape mouth into a coy smile. âSecondly, Joey Tirbbiani, my words arenât so cryptic if youâve been taking any notice as to whatâs been happening lately.â Her message was meant for him and for her, a sort of aimless sentence that encapsulated how she felt about their whole ordeal.
It hardly mattered; he responded how she knew he would. Knowing him so well was a curse sometimes.
Her hands were placed on his workbench, leaning in chest forward as she blinked at him. Twice. She was attempting to be careful with her words here, in an attempt to not have him twist them about. Running on three hours of sleep in 48 hours was, as they say, not fun. â...Are we playing a stupid game right now? In all of... this?â Some manner of hand gestures came about, moving them in a circular motion around her head before bringing them back down to his bench. âAnd when I say we, I mean The Avengers. I need some reassurance. And youâre doing nothing. So.â
She leaned away with a cross of her arms. âWinning doesnât seem fun in a scenario where the stupid prize is total anarchy.â
Leah Stewart, The Myth of You and Me

âAnd look at you now. Here in the moment, standing strong.â She spoke like reading off the periodic table, running off a fact that she saw as just that--a fact. There was a decency in her tone, offering a pensive glance to him and then to the ground underneath her shoes. âI canât imagine how that was. I enlisted on the hopes of escaping my life. Flying away, you know? So for me, it was kind of the opposite.â Flashes of her raging heart blaze through her memory, brief and sharp as they depict that of a young Danvers who wanted nothing more than to get what she wanted. Her âfamilyâ be damned, for all she cared.
The toe of her shoe was scuffled and turned each way into the cement, letting her gaze drift up to a familiar anchor of comfort, settling into that endless blue rooftop. âBut I... do know what itâs like, to be forced into something. To not even have a choice in the path of your life. To--â â
âTo be made into something elseâ sliced into her thoughts, rending through the good memories to make room for what still felt like fresh trauma. It caused her to swallow hard, as if trying to gulp down a planetâs worth of problems was anything close to healthy.
The instinct to throw up her usual bulletproof facade arrived like usual, half of her face covered by golden curls as she shined her best at Sam Wilson. â--to have that happen to you is beyond cruel. Nobody, not one good person, should be forced into anything that they want no part of. ...Which, I guess sounds sort of obvious, but--well, here we are.â Still looking at him, Carol then began to sport a smile, still burying that planet in the spare black-hole that she kept in the back of her mind. This was about him, after all. And how he survived.
âIt didnât kill you Sam. And youâre here. Flying strong. You survived it.â
SPARKLE-FIST DANVERS / 01
carol danvers + that jacket in captain marvel #1 (2019)
CHARACTER STUDY / TEN HEADCANONS
* Â fill out which of each you strongly associate with your muse + REPOST, donât reblog !!
1 ) WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE ? The smell of dust after rain. A mildly earthy scent, but sweet and fresh; tranquil. Carol is often soaring through the air, through clouds, which carry a similar smell according to skydivers. An aroma that takes her back to her younger years as a teenager, recalling her hitchhikes up to low mountains just to see the stars twinkle better, finding a refuge in the one place that wasnât screaming at her for being wrong.
2 ) HOW OFTEN DOES YOUR MUSE BATHE / SHOWER ?  ANY HABITS ? Every day, at least once. Her showers are long, cold, letting the collective noise and feeling of the shower water drown out everything else as she takes a moment to herself. Itâs one of her only places of solace, to either forget the rest of the world or get a reprieve from her own storm of thoughts.
3 ) DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY TATTOOS OR PIERCINGS ? Ears and belly for piercings. She has always wanted a tattoo, but never pushed herself to settle on something to put on her body. Being a perfectionist at heart, especially about herself, keeps her from deciding on an image or set of words that could encapsulate her. Part of her also worries that after she gets it, she wonders if itâll become meaningless in a year or two. She ALSO wonders if itâs even possible, considering how durable and bulletproof her skin is to begin with.Â
4 ) ANY BODY MOVEMENT QUIRKS ( EX : LEG SHAKING ) ? Â Often she has her right hip jutted out, with a hand placed against it or a fist. She also switches weight from one foot to the next occasionally, crossing her arms when she finds herself feeling closed in or uncomfortable. Carol doesnât have anything like restless leg syndrome, however sheâs been known to sprawl and have all of her limbs stretched out when she sleeps or lies down. She will take up all the room, if possible. Sheâs also picked up the habit of saying a lot with her lips, quirking them in whatever shape that reflects her mood on the situation--animated and like a cartoon character.
5 ) WHAT DO THEY SLEEP IN ? Either in her underwear and a tank top if sheâs feeling too hot, or any number of the several dozen pairs of Walmart plaid PJs that she owns.Â
6 ) WHATâS THEIR FAVORITE PIECE OF CLOTHING ? Her Air Force leather bomber jacket. Itâs beat up, worn, old, but it holds all the sentimental value in the world for her.Â
7 ) WHAT DO THEY DO WHEN THEY WAKE UP ? Contemplate for the thousandth time on how she didnât get enough sleep, things she can do to resolve it, and then ultimately decide it isnât worth it. She gets up and wakes up fast, coffee helping that even more. Sheâs not exactly a morning person per-say, but itâs just not in her habit to be a grump because of fatigue or grogginess.Â
8 ) HOW DO THEY SLEEP ?  POSITION ?  If sheâs utterly exhausted and actually does sleep, she tends to sleep without any humility whatsoever. Open mouthed, drooling, sprawled out, blanket askew and barely covering her, her cat Chewie sleeping on top of her head on her pillow. âa limp noodleâ tends to come to mind.
9 ) WHAT DO THEIR HANDS FEEL LIKE ? Very warm. Her callouses donât remain for too long from fights or otherwise, her bodyâs molecular structure returning back to a sort of pristine condition due to her powers, but her hands and the rest of her body always runs hot due to how much energy sheâs constantly giving off.Â
10 ) IF YOU KISSED THEM, WHAT WOULD THEY USUALLY TASTE LIKE ? Â A warm and soothing minty taste, always careful to make sure her breath is in prime condition. She talks a lot, even rambles, and she knows this, so damned if she doesnât give a mint spritz on top of daily oral hygiene. Other than that, a pretty natural taste accompanied by her perpetual body heat. A real âsolar powered kissâ, if you will.

â iâve got a hundred thrown out speeches i almost said to you. â -- @vnmblast
âOh really? That number seems kind of low... tell me Jess, should I be hurt? Perhaps even... MORTIFIED?!â Here come the pseudo dramatics, arriving in a storm that thundered from her chest on upwards. She gave a heart-wrenching gasp, her hand flexed and bent over her face as she attempts to hide away all the âpainâ piercing through to her face. âOh god! You donât care about us anymore! Youâve given up! Conceal, donât feel... donât let it SHOOOOOOW!â She had a mid-stretch of elongated theatrics upon the couch, her leg halfway up in the air before she paused, her face suddenly a picture of bewilderment. âErr... wait, is it... donât let them know? Donât let it show? ...They both work, right? Right. Ahem, so anyway--â
There was a very VERY heartfelt attempt to start the chorus to the cursed melody of a bygone age that should have been long forgotten, but she instead collapsed into helpless laughter, hastily reaching up in a tactile move to yank her beloved onto the sofa with her. âJokes aside, you should toss all of your speeches at me, at any time, anywhere. No matter how crazy or justified they are.â A dazzling grin seemed at home on her face as she peered up at Jessica Drew who remained on top of her, brushing long hair away from her favoriteâs face with a snort. âBesides, I think itâs unfair that I dump my unadulterated crazy, and whatever else, on you twenty four seven. Unfiltered too. So please... do return the favor, mmkay? Or else.â
She retracted her arms, only to curl them behind her head with an arrogance striking her smile. âI promise not to fall asleep during most of them.â
â iâm an architect, iâm drawing up the plans. â -- @dangerwatson
âI think this is the part where Iâm supposed to say, âMJ, you know Rome wasnât built in a day!â--buuut... who am I to deny your absolute unparalleled vision and foresight?â Her lips stretched from side to side with admiration, her large blue eyes fitted with a fond twinkle to them as she surveyed her friendâs work. Carol was never one to usher in any dismay to anyone about their care towards their craft, much less someone as talented and ingenious as Mary Jane herself. It was difficult not to be an adoring fan of hers these days, serving as the always fitting reminder that civilians like her were powerful and heroic all of their own merit.Â
In earnest, Carol envied that. To be noteworthy without having energy blasts bursting from your hands, or assigning herself to a stigma wrapped in spandex that regimented her life--forever.Â
There was a gentle nudge given to the other womanâs arm, her smile peeling open into a tender grin, accompanied by raised eyebrows. âSo am I allowed to be one of your helpful builders? Donât force me to just sit and twiddle my thumbs on the sidelines now. Especially when the fireworks start.âÂ
i forgot that you existedÂ
â you did me wrong. â â i couldnât get away. â â something happened one magical night. â â i forgot that you existed. â â i thought that it would kill me, but it didnât. â â it isnât love, it isnât hate, itâs just indifference. â
cruel summerÂ
â iâm always waiting for you. â â devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes. â â what doesnât kill me makes me want you more. â â itâs new, the shape of your body. â â itâs a cruel summer with you. â â weâll just screw it up in these trying times. â â if i bleed, youâll be the last to know. â â said iâm fine, but it wasnât true. â â i donât wanna keep secrets just to keep you. â â i love youâ ainât that the worst thing you ever heard? â â i screamed, for whatever itâs worth. â
loverÂ
â we could leave the christmas lights up till january. â â this is our place, we make the rules. â â thereâs a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you. â â have i known you twenty seconds, or twenty years? â â can i go where you go? â â can we always be this close? â â iâm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you. â â iâve love you three summers now, honey, but i want âem all. â â i take this magnetic force of a man/women/etc. â â my heartâs been borrowed, and yours had been blue. â â allâs well that ends well to end up with you. â â save all your dirtiest jokes for me. â â at every table, iâll save you a seat. â â darling youâre my lover. â
the manÂ
â i played the field before i found someone to commit to. â â iâm so sick of running as fast as i can. â â wondering iâd get there quicker is i was a man. â â iâm so sick of them coming at me. â â coz if i was a man, then iâd be the man. â â theyâd say i hustled, put in the work. â â they wouldnât shake their heads and questions how much of this i deserve. â â itâs okay that iâm mad. â
the archerÂ
â iâm ready for combat. â â i donât want that. â â cruelty wins in the movies. â â iâve got a hundred thrown out speeches i almost said to you. â â easy they come, easy they go. â â i never grew up. â â help me hold on to you. â â iâve been the archer, iâve been the prey. â â who could ever leave me, darling? â â but who could stay? â â who could ever leave me, darling, but who could stay? â â i search for your dark side. â â what if iâm all right, right here? â â i hate my reflection for years and years. â â i pace like a ghost. â â all of my heroes die all alone. â â i see right through me. â â can you see right through me? â â all the kingâs horses, all the kingâs men couldnât put me together again. â â all of my enemies started out friends. â

â his/her/their hands already a cold glass make me wanna know that body like itâs mine. â â got that boyish look i like in a man. â â iâm an architect, iâm drawing up the plans. â â nobody understands. â â he/she/they got my heartbeat skipping down 16th avenue. â â wanna see whatâs under that attitude. â â i want you. â â i think he knows. â â iâll make myself at home and heâll/sheâll/theyâll/youâll want me to stay. â â hand on my thigh, we can follow the sparks. â

âIâm not arresting any unsuspecting vigilante on sight, if thatâs your question.â Her smile that she donned in the wake of her words was playful, pushing forth a light-hearted air between them as she tossed another unconscious body onto the pile. âJust between you and me, Iâm not exactly... fervent in my civic duty against unregistered folk.â Which was putting it lightly, knowing full well that she was beyond lackadaisical when it came to other âlaw breaking heroesâ. Technically, it wasnât her job anyway, having been given the role of Homeland Security for the Avengers and outside of it. Though, she suspected that wasnât going to last for much longer. It was only a matter of time before the shadows behind the scenes started coming into the light--and start drawing up battle-plans for their newfound âweaponsâ.Â
So, until then, she wasnât about to do anything to anyone. Much less someone as dutiful and capable as The Huntress.
âSo, you donât have to worry. ...But something tells me if you really were worried, youâd already be out of here.â Call it her own sparkle-infused intuition, but she had the feeling the other heroine would have simply bee-lined it out of this warehouse if she felt she was in any monumental danger. Or, maybe she was lingering around for the sake of some fleeting curiosity. Either way, Carol preferred the company, as she dropped the last unconscious thug into the pile that they had taken out together. By the time Carol had arrived, a tip off about a warehouse used for smuggling weapons and the like, Huntress was already there in the thick of it. For the brief time that they kicked ne'er-do-well butts together--she kind of thought they made a good team.
Sauntering over to the brunette, she offered an extended arm with an open gloved palm to shake, her smile wide and inviting as she gave a bare tilt of her head, golden locks spilling past her shoulder. âIâm Carol. Pleasure to meet you. Nice to know you live up to your impressive and admirable skill set, Huntress.â

âWHAT?! Sif, thatâs--no--NO--oh my FUCK, stop talking over me!â A tremulous laugh and more jovial shouts storm out in the aftermath of her words, face alight with actual glee in the company of an old friend. The tired lines in her face and the twisted ache in her seemed to dissipate for now, currently giving a healthy roll of her twinkly blue eyes at Sifâs ârecountingâ of the events on one of their ventures beyond this little rock. âFirst of all Xena, my count was far higher than yours by the end. Secondly, Raxacoricofallapatorius was the planet where we had to shut down the matter harvesters? Duh?â
All in good jest, though it was the damned truth as Carol recalled the time in her head, spiraling through alien metal to rid the planet of otherworldly corporate entities that were sucking the planet dry. And then promptly teaming up with the lady of war herself to âarrestâ any remaining opposing forces. Needless to say, the battle had been in their favor.
A grin split open across the blondeâs face, nudging her arm into the womanâs side as she dodged a swipe aimed for her own head. âHey, hey! Itâs okay! They say memory is the first to go in old age, right? Haha!â
@owracle
âIâm not looking to make things difficult for them. I just need information.â This was a rusty start to meeting the one and only Oracle of Gotham City, but then she never expected for this meeting to go smoothly. This was bound to become a pattern in her line of work now, acutely aware of whom she represented and where she stood. Maybe that was the problem--could people see that sometimes she was standing on nothing? Thin air? Quicksand? Sometimes, even she didnât know.
âBarbara, I promise you, if my intentions were to attack or take down The Watchtower--...well, letâs just say I wouldnât be here right now.â She tasted her own hubris as it rolled off her tongue, but it was hard not to be overconfident about her own power. But she was here to act cordially and responsibly, not to make idle threats against anyone. So a smile awakened in light of all this, her arms unfolded as she offered a minor shrug to the actual genius sitting across from where she stood. âJust wannaâ make sure the Earth is safe, from all angles. ...It also wouldnât hurt to know if that thing is primed for another extraterrestrial incursion.âÂ
âHoping THAT wont happen again anytime soon...â
Margaret Atwood, The Blind Assassin
