To celebrate our graduation, my friends and I decided to take a short get away to Phuket, Thailand! We literally graduated 2 days before jetsetting to Thailand for 5D4N. Once again, we wanted a very chill holiday where we could enjoy some sun, sand and sea. We initially had much more ambitious plans to go to Boracay in the Phillipines but decided to go to somewhere a bit more familiar.
We had to take a very early flight from Changi Airport this time and we ALMOST missed our flight. We were taking our time to stroll around and when we decided to walk to the gate, it was ‘last call’. So thank goodness we made it!
The beginning of our trip was a rather rocky one. We had a slight scare at the airport thinking that the driver didn’t come to pick us up. The real moment of panic was when we reached the hotel and they refused to let us check in. We needed to place a deposit on the room and we did not have enough cash or a credit card and they didn’t allow us to use our debit card. So we camped out at 7-11 for a while to sort out this problem. Hours later, we finally got it sorted and managed to get into our room! Besides the slight mishap, the staff was still really gracious and helpful.
We booked the 2 Bedroom Grand Seaview Suite at the Serenity Resorts & Residences Phuket and let me tell you, it was HUGE. It was like our own apartment. It had 2 ensuite rooms, a kitchen, a dining and a living room. The patio led out to where the swimming pool was, which led directly into the ocean. We were so comfortable in our little apartment, that we didn’t even feeling like going out! Carina and I ended up sharing the smaller bedroom while Joan and Regine shared the master bedroom. (It’s a shame I didn’t take pictures of the room, we were so excited. However, I did vlog it!)
After exploring the resort, we decided to head back to 7-11 to stock up on our food as we wanted to cook instead of spending money on food. 7-11 in Thailand is a wonderland and we had so much fun in there picking up the most interesting snacks. After having a light lunch, we wasted no time and headed straight to the pool. And just as planned, we spent the next few days by the pool having cocktails. (We also binge-watched Ex On The Beach because why not)
We also decided to pamper ourselves by going for massages at a Spa nearby called Atmanjai Wellness Spa. The buggy we sat on had to drive on the main road to get to the Spa. It was terrifying and yet so much fun. I did the Siam Massage with hot compress as I thought it would help my back and it felt so good. I was rejuvenated.
On day 3, we decided to bit a bit more adventurous and head to Bangla Road, Patong for a ‘night out’. So we got dressed and put on a face of makeup and grabbed a cab. The resort was quite a distance away from Patong so we had to take a 30minute cab ride.
Walking down Bangla Street was quite the experience. It was a real eye-opener and we saw clubs and bars that I have never seen before. We were approached many times to watch ‘Ping-pong’ shows but very politely declined. It was actually tempting to see what it was all about and for the experience, but we didn’t want to waste money and the people harassing us also turned us off the idea.
We decided to get crepes and coconut ice cream before heading to a bar. We got beer, cocktails, shots and more cocktails. It was incredibly cheap which made it very dangerous hahhaha. It started to rain, which was our cue to go home. But the fun did not stop when we got back, we played more drinking games such as flip cup and true american (from new girl) and it was so much more fun than we could imagine. Carina, especially, had the MOST fun. 😉
On the last day, we checked out at 12pm but our flight was at 10pm which was ridiculous. It didn’t occur to us to ask for late checkout so we ended up camping out at the hotel bar for the next 5 hours. Finally it was time to say goodbye to Phuket.
Serenity Resorts & Residences Phuket is definitely really affordable and is absolutely beautiful if you do not mind being away from the hustle and bustle of Patong beach. It’s a place to go for a some rest and relaxation instead of partying hard.
I vlogged the entire trip so be sure to check it out at the end of the post. Meanwhile, here are some pictures from the trip!
