This was her kind of place; the ocean was where she lived, where she made her home after guiding her granddaughter beyond the reef. When she was taken from it and brought to this strange place she had to admit that she, despite her usually calm and level headed behavior, felt bitterness. Not just because she was far from home, but because she could no longer watch over her darling throughout her journey.
She hoped, with all her heart, that Moana was safe…
She learned not to look back; perhaps this was a way for Tala to relive her life in some form. That is how she saw it, at least. Now, with the day’s events and her ‘play’, she only wished that Moana was there to experience it as well. Was that selfish? Her granddaughter had a special and important mission, after all…
She slowly swam back towards the shore, her form manifesting back into her former self to drift back to the shore. No water dripped from her figure as she walked, the water at her feet seeming to simply go through her. While she missed the ocean’s touch, she had to admit that this was rather convenient.
Then, something caught her eye. A figure she instantly recognized, though could not believe to be there. It could not be, could it?
Was she seeing things? She knew that she missed her darling granddaughter, but…
Moana hadn’t been looking in the right direction to spot the apparition walking from the water, still moving her hand over the gentle waves and occasionally touching the sand. It felt peaceful, a reminder of home, even if the off-colored terrain did leave her feeling a little out of place.
When she heard the voice, however, that sweet and familiar voice, she jolted upright, pulling her hand out of the water and looking around rapidly to see where it had come from.
The girl couldn’t help it; Moana was staring, for what was definitely not the first time during her stay in this City. However, the emotions racing through her were a lot more powerful than simply confusion as she stared ahead at her Grandma.
“Grandma..?” Her breath was quiet, and she wasn’t sure if, on the chance that she wasn’t just seeing things, that Tala would even hear her. She was too afraid to take a breath, not wanting this to turn out to be fake, and her heart was beating rapidly.
