The Graveyard Book
“...It’s like the people who believe they’ll be happy if they go and live somewhere else, but who learn it doesn’t work that way. Wherever you go, you take yourself with you.
I gave up practically the whole world for you. The sun, stars, ocean, trees, everything, I gave it all up for you.
The hours between 12am and 6am have a funny habit of making you feel like you’re either on top of the world, or under it.
Beau Taplin (via quotemadness)
I like cancelled plans. And empty bookstores. I like rainy days and thunderstorms. And quiet coffee shops. I like messy beds and over-worn pajamas. Most of all, I like the small joys that a simple life brings.
Unknown (via quotemadness)
It takes ten times as long to put yourself together as it does to fall apart.
Suzanne Collins (via quotemadness)
Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book
John Green, The Fault In Our Stars. (via ijustkindalikebooks)
Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter.

Pero lo que para una persona puede ser una distancia prudencial, para otra puede ser un abismo.
After Dark, Haruki Murakami
Later that night I held an atlas in my lap ran my fingers across the whole world and whispered where does it hurt? it answered everywhere everywhere everywhere.

Sometimes you’re 23 and standing in the kitchen of your house making breakfast and brewing coffee and listening to music that for some reason is really getting to your heart. You’re just standing there thinking about going to work and picking up your dry cleaning. And also more exciting things like books you’re reading and trips you plan on taking and relationships that are springing into existence. Or fading from your memory, which is far less exciting. And suddenly you just don’t feel at home in your skin or in your house and you just want home but ‘Mom’s’ probably wouldn’t feel like home anymore either. There used to be the comfort of a number in your phone and ears that listened everyday and arms that were never for anyone else. But just to calm you down when you started feeling trapped in a five-minute period where nostalgia is too much and thoughts of this person you are feel foreign. When you realize that you’ll never be this young again but this is the first time you’ve ever been this old. When you can’t remember how you got from sixteen to here and all the same feel like sixteen is just as much of a stranger to you now. The song is over. The coffee’s done. You’re going to breathe in and out. You’re going to be fine in about five minutes.

After Dark.
“¿Por qué será que todos tomamos caminos tan diferentes? Quiero decir que ustedes dos, sin ir más lejos, han nacido de los mismos padres, han crecido en la misma casa, las dos son mujeres. ¿A qué se debe entonces que hayan acabado teniendo personalidades tan distintas, como el blanco y el negro?”
I’ll give you the sun.
“I’m a whirling, ass-kicking Goliath, a typhoon wrapped in skin...”
If a poem hasn’t ripped apart your soul; you haven’t experienced poetry.
Edgar Allan Poe (via quotemadness)
I didn't say anything, but I suddenly felt really awkward being here, in my bed, alone in my room, with a gay guy. And then I immediately got pissed off at myself for even thinking shit like that, for doing the same kind of crap to Joey that everyone else did, 'cause I knew what it felt like too, being so not-like-all-the-other-guys-here. And I don't mean I know what it felt like to be gay, because I don't, but I do know what it felt like to be the "only" one of something.
Winger, Andrew Smith
“Joey told me nothing ever goes back exactly the way it was, that things expand and contract —like breathing, but you could never fill your lungs up with the same air twice. He said some of the smartest things I ever heard, and he’s the only one of my friends who really tried to keep me on track too. And I’ll be honest. I know exactly how hard that was.”
–Winger, Andrew Smith

"If there are people who don't see'em, I'd say we outnumber them a million to one."
