As she had much better things to do throughout her day, Alicia welcomed the opportunities to hire help. While she was far above petty theft that didn’t mean others were, which was why she kept them close - if they were any good. Like the common phrase said: the best things in life were free. And stolen jewelry and goods just so happened to be free.
“I would like to see more ability, however. Could you bring me something of more value? Consider it a test before the honor of working with me.”
Rylan chuckled, “Oh, then I shall do my best to earn that honor.” There was a slight twinge of sarcasm in his voice, along with amusement. Honestly, such an offer was very interesting to Rylan, and one he intended on earning to the best of his ability. If anything, it may prove to be a nice way to pass the time.
With just a parting smile, Rylan stepped back into the crowd, trying to find a nice target. Well, if the woman wanted something of more value, then he should aim to impress, right? A wallet had value, but there was no fun in that. It was typical. Boring. And had a higher risk of being empty and worthless. No, if he really wanted to dazzle, he had to get something better than a beaten up wallet.
Perhaps a necklace for the trustworthy lady?
Rylan grinned as he waited for a nice target. A woman with a thin necklace. Something light enough that it wouldn’t be noticed if it slipped away. A thin gold chain with a small diamond hanging off the end. That certainly fit under his criteria.
It wasn’t long until the necklace was stashed tightly in his gloved fist, and he walked away in the other direction. He waited to return to the woman for a while, just so he wouldn’t draw any suspicion. But then, he walked back to her, gently taking her hand with the one holding the necklace, silently delivering it to her.
“Valuable enough for you, dear?” Rylan asked.
