(( 37. Have they had any special education or training that colors their means of learning about or understanding the world? Conversely, do they lack some kind of education considered essential in their world? What kind of impact has this addition or lack had on them? ))
Violet’s education was rather...unique from most others on Arcadia Island. She was taught the same things, given the same lessons that others would have. The difference is that instead of a classroom...Violet was forced to learn it all herself from the comfort of her own bed.
It was a miracle, really, that Violet excelled in her studies as much as she did. After all, it would be easy for studies to be left to the wayside after the upbringing she had. Living in an orphanage that grew poorer with every new bout of illness she suffered, barely able to leave her own bed most days...any child would have given up to just sleep and hope for a better tomorrow. But what kept Violet entertained was her studies. Reading about everything she missed while she was out...ignoring the sounds of laughter from the other side of her door.
Hoping that she wouldn’t burden anyone further by falling behind in class.
In the end, Violet did receive specialized training in her respective talents. Summoning was, unfortunately, a failed effort for her. Because though she learned the art of making a pact, she failed in every effort to actually form one with a spirit. However...her skills as a healer exceeded all expectations. She learned how to give parts of herself to make sure someone else survived. Learning how to make use of herself, now given the ability to fulfill her lifelong dream and make something useful of herself.
What she has learned through her schooling was impressive, to say the least.
Though...what she didn’t learn was...staggering.
There’s a consequence to keeping to yourself. From being locked away most days, focused on studies. From being so far removed from your peers for the majority of your childhood, only being cared for by family and caretakers that at the very least had an obligation to be kind and nurturing towards you. What happens when you don’t learn otherwise? What happens when you lack the education to socialize and pick up on certain social cues?
Violet lacks that knowledge. The education built from simply socializing and being around her peers. And honestly...that’s made her quite lonely. Gullible at times. Violet is both overly conscious and observant about how people see her - over-analyzing every little thing about someone in fear that they dislike her - and unable to see deception when it looks her right in the eyes.
It makes her a very easy target to manipulate, and it’s a miracle she’s been unscathed so far.
