So, I've always been a Kokichi fan, and immediately locked onto liking Jax when I first saw him, and I couldn't figure out why, but now that the show is over, I can confidently say why, they're the same.

Purple liars who put on a funny facade to avoid acknowledging they hate the game they're trapped in that have resulted in friends deaths, that they are tangentially responsible for, causing them to put on an evil mask that pushes everyone away.

They both wanted to avoid showing weakness and had terrible ways of coping with being trapped, and it's ok to be sympathetic with their "reasoning" without actually forgiving them, I don't forgive them for Gonta and Ribbit, and neither do they.

They try to be liked by a theoretical audience by being entertaining, and with their deaths that they had already accepted was going to happen, the last five members came together despite the circumstances, (no matter how much shorter that lasted for the drv3 cast than tadc)

Finally, when it comes to the fandom reaction, you've got three different significant factions, those who try to say they did no wrong with their attitudes and lies to make them out to be the comic relief they thought they played, those who even after their deaths hold every lie and death against them to make them out to be the villain they played and deserved to die for, and those who accept the situation that led to how they act and sympathize with them, but acknowledging how they dealt with it was very much in the wrong, but didn't deserve to die because of it.
