January Worldbuilders 13: Clothing

Ah that was part of my thesis last year! Basically, the fashion sense of #Defiler and the broader galaxy takes inspiration from the early and mid 20th century. Tabora in particular is inspired by modern Greece. Here is Mallik in her desert and Sunrise Strip attires:

The Sunrise Strip wears clothing that would be similar to that of the early and mid 20th century; pants, skirts, suits, blouses and the like. Those higher on the social ladder tend to wear skirts and dresses, whereas pants are relegated for workers and the poor. Key inspiration has been the post-war Greek fashion which always lagged ~10y behind current trends. Alongside interwar fashion from western Europe, the denizens of the Sunrise Strip would not look out of place in historical photos were it not for their alien nature.

By contrast, the desert of Tabora has its inspirations dialed into the 19th century of Greece. Traditional textures and the patterns of the Maker can be seen all over their clothing, with skirts and dresses once more indicating rank and societal status within a clan. Textures and fabrics and materials hold a direct lineage to traditional textile work found in Greek embroidery and clothing. There is a wealth to be found in my country that proved quite the inspiration for figuring out the desert of Tabora itself.
