Upon hearing his shout for her to leave Samantha gave a soft eye roll as a huff of air escaped her lips, seemingly unfazed by his order. Placing small hands against her hips in true Samantha fashion her nose crinkled, hiding the scattering of freckles that usually adorned there.
Samantha took small steps towards where her brother sat, weary of the undergarments that scattered the floor. ‘Boy Cooties.’ Reaching the desk she placed her elbows down and lay her head flat to the side, seemingly taking up most of the left side. With a gap toothed grin Samantha faced him, her voice covered slightly by her elbows so that the sound bounced off, resonating at least an octave higher.
Samantha didn’t mean to be annoying, truly, even when he was being a jerk.
“Are you going to finish the story? I’ve waited sooo long-what happened to the girl?”
Samantha had remembered the story in which he was telling her the week before she had left, when her parents were fighting and she couldn’t sleep. Fox hadn’t finished it, even when her farther had walked out he refused to tell her the rest and laughed at her when she had got upset. ‘Don’t be a baby-Grow up, you always get what you want.’
A tentative sniff, his eyes narrowing at her, pointed turning away from her and
back to the papers on his desk, it didn’t smell that bad. Okay, he might need to
get his track stuff out of his bag for his mom to wash, but it wasn’t that serious!
Letting out a low groan of irritation even as he made a mental note that she was
a cute kid and he should probably cool it. Probably, but everyone thought she
was cute.
“Homework. I’m doing my homework that I get
straight A’s on but whatever.”
Sullen, he tapped the end of his pen against his paper, struggling to remember
what he’d made up. Part of him wanted to blame her for their parents always
fighting, but sometimes he heard his name too. Not that he could figure out why
he was an issue, yeah he had a smart mouth, but he was a good student, was in
the top five fastest track runners for the school. Ever.
“She lived happily ever after, duh.”
But his tone wasn’t as peevish as it had been, chin propped on his hand as he
looked at her.
“If you give me a minute I can probably think
of another one?”
