This morning I woke up to this text from my girlfriend. I used to have this warped vision of what love looked like. I used to think I was broken. I used to think that I needed to change. But she sees me just as I am and she loves me unconditionally in every moment. She reminds me what love is.

My heart aches today. Hate is contagious. It would be so easy to be angry and to let my heart become hard to the world when it often appears so ugly, but I refuse. I refuse to give in to hatred, anger, and fear. Instead, I will wake up every day and love this beautiful woman harder than I did the day before. Darkness has no power over light just as hatred has no power over love.
