I’m gonna start by saying your take on how MOST people interact with moonwater is 100% correct and ALSO how i will never understand where this characterization of regulus comes from he is not the direct antithesis of sirius they’re more similar than people assume but anyways sirius has been reduced to a mindless chaotic helpless version of himself that needs constant attention and guidance or otherwise he won’t even survive his confidence gets turned into vanity his ambition turned into just being an adrenaline junkie his trauma being used against him to show all his shortcomings and why he shouldn’t be a person with agency like he can’t exist without remus or james he has never been in need of a savior he’s constantly put in this box of being a damsel in distress just for big man grumpy man remus to save him THIS CHARACTERIZATION OF SIRIUS ALSO MESSES UP THE ESSENCE OF WHO REMUS IS AND THEIR DYNAMIC MIND YOU Sirius gets turned into a hyperfeminine hypersexual desperate idiot which brings up just how misogynistic and homophobic that is for him to be openly feminine he has to be stupid it’s annoying to have him be the placeholder “woman” in an mlm relationship not to mention remus was always the gentler of the two if anything he’s more aligned with femininity in the ways that matter bc it’s more than just skirts and makeup or a tiny waist and long hair and that bugs me not bc i don’t want sirius to be feminine but bc it’s rarely shown in any way that’s real he becomes an accessory rather an actual character especially when his own struggles (usually) being pushed aside in favor of regulus’ or remus’ it’s redundant the point is sirius at his core is someone who questions and bends the norm by putting him in a box it’s ruins the fun and is a diservice to him and i havent even gotten to the trans sirius of it all bc that’s much worse!!

with the way we view feminine characters, we lose sight of what feminity actually entails. it's never about women's struggles, experiences. the communities and safety nets they build with each other. the issues they face. it's such a flat image of femininity, that is purely focused on aesthetics and stereotypical behaviours.

the way people headcanon sirius is how boomers talk about women. immature, unreasonable, dramatic, damsel in distress who needs to be looked after. it's all about the long hair, the body, the tiny waist. if that's all femininity is to you, your view of women is fundamentally fucked.

He’s beyond gorgeous, pale skin that almost glows in the light and dark hair that’s hanging in twin braids over his shoulders, dressed in a sleeveless black shirt and what appears to be honest to God leather trousers, which would explain the way he’s practically dripping in sweat. There’s an androgynous sort of beauty to him, features simultaneously harsh and delicate, exaggerated by the rough stubble on his jawline and the glittery makeup that’s shimmering around his eyes, head nodding as nimble fingers twist knobs and flip switches and do surprisingly sexy DJ activities. Remus doesn’t even know if that’s actually affecting the music or if it’s all for show, but either way, he finds the whole thing so attractive that he barely knows what to do with himself. most moonwater shippers just yearn for a replacement of sirius that is more pliant, feminine, petite, non-confrontational. they want a little girl for their ideal big strong man remus lupin. sirius is an extremely headstrong character and doesn't fit this traditionally feminine role. therefore they turn regulus into a submissive oc.

also it almost seems as if in most cases regulus isn't headcanoned as ftm for representation purposes but because of the author's sexual preferences. which is fine but worth noting. regulus' trans identity is rarely further explored than him being a set of vagina and tits for remus to fuck. you don't want a thought through ship, you want to mask your remus lupin x reader fantasies by turning them into an mlm ship.

very salty but my stomach tightens when i look at wolfstar fanart and without a doubt. every. single. time. it's clear the artist used a reference and sirius is the girl.

can we swap it up. can we allow characters more depth and definition? can we imagine homosexual relationships that don't fall strictly within heterosexual patterns? can we imagine multi-faceted people?

i don't dislike fem sirius. i dislike the notion that's all sirius can ever be.
