I appreciate how Sokka is on this journey with a mystical person who can bend elements and go into the spirit world but he still tries to be all science-y and logical as if he didn't just automatically accept the fact that his girlfriend turned into the moon

The men who wrote the constitution were by no means perfect, but they fought hard battles to gain and give what freedoms they could.

The constitution is important because it's OUR history and is still very, very relevant. It certainly isn't the Word of God, but it does hurt my heart to think a whole generation has a severe hatred for their country and what they were given. America is still so young.

What privileges you DO have in no way excuse what abuse has been perpetuated throughout the years.. but I dare say that the constitution is NOT the useless, irrelevant, "written by the mean white man," document you've been told that it is. "We The People," dude.

Ok but hear me out--

like what if the whole "mansplaining" thing was supposed to be a good thing?

Again, just h e a r m e o u t---—

The reason

I'm thinking this is because of an instance I had the other day

It was strange

and beautiful

So it goes like this right--there's this man in my life (no romantic affiliations, more fatherly) who anytime I ask a question is always more than willing to answer with proper explanations. It was evening, we were doing some work, and I couldn't help but admire his eyes as the low sun caught them, and his gestures, and mannerisms, how sincere they were in making sure he was explaining in a way that's understood. He has had decades of education on the matter of what he was explaining, where I am a fresh and inquisitive newbie. Because of this relationship we have, oftentimes I don't even have to ask for him to begin explaining, and for some reason it

warms my heart and brings me great comfort.

Ok so the question I have to ask is this: what if instead of "manslaining" becoming this ultimate condescending, "I know better than you, haha!" sort of thing, it was never actually meant to become that?

What if it was meant to come from a place of, "Oh, you don't know of this matter? If I may, allow me to explain--" and it allows for a moment of I dunno.. beholding? Like, I feel like if I hadn't had that instance with this man, I wouldn't have seen the beauty in him, or even that his very explaining showed that he cared about me and my education. What if mansplaining was supposed to be an oddly majestic moment of getting to witness the character and integrity of a man, the fact that he wishes for me to understand because he knows I'm perfectly capable, and is more than willing to take the time to share what he's learned so far.

Plus his eyes were pretty and I'd never noticed before. It was oddly comforting, like a warm blanket, and I just really appreciate how wholesome it all was

I call myself a baby for being broken-hearted,

but then I look back and realize how heartbreaking it truly is

to see myself shut down,

to call myself stupid for having a big heart for people,

and to never let them know what they did.

And it wasn't until I finally went to someone,

risking that they may in fact call me stupid and annoying

and that our friendship be destroyed

by being completely honest about how their actions affected me,

that I finally realized..

true friendship is not built without risk; lifelong bonds cannot just stand the test of time, rather the test of conflict, the small breaches of trust that build up, the weariness that is caused when one worries that the entire foundation will crumble if they go to that person to say

"Hey, you hurt me, and this is why."

It's not about being malicious, or coming at them with the anger you feel, but simply saying "You moved to the left and accidentally stepped on my toes, it broke them." They're not bad for the mistake, and you aren't bad for the confrontation. What's bad is to leave it alone, and let the friendship die out of fear that it will crumble because you got hurt.

I wish I could make you see yourself through my eyes...

How bright blue yours are. How sweet the crevices are that encases them. Your laugh is just.. adorable. It's like happiness in a bottle.

When you look at me and smile, I think "Oh,no..." because it's like a wave crashing in. One that I'd happily drown in. You're so kind and sweethearted.

Every hug, pat, fistbump, handshake, tickle...

You always feel like home when you hug me. Just the right amount of firmness and squish. I always take a deep breath and pray to God I get to hear your heart. And your hands are always so warm, just like your spirit.

Just when you look at me, you always have this sort of smirk, and dialated eyes. They're so bright.

How goofy you are just makes me so giddy. Watching you do impressions and act out scenes gives me fire.

Your encouragements are always in the back of my head, delivered by your sweet, comforting tone.

I wish you could see. Maybe then you would love me.

I always secretly hope you're around every corner, waiting to kiss me. Or that you'd show up at my doorstep with flowers, confessing your love for me. Or that I'd get to tell you how much I love you, and you'd excitedly ask me to be your girlfriend.

But I don't live in that now.

I can't make you see.

And I guess that if it's meant to be, God would show you... but I can't make you love me.

skinny enough,

pretty enough,

every time I thought I was too young or too old to accomplish a good thing..

screw every fear, every anxious thought that turned all my "what ifs" into a horror show

screw every worry that said I'm stupid
