Sims 4 Character Story: Ae-Cha
So this is the second time I'm writing this but hello. I'll be going over what is one of my favorite sims character's life her name Ae-Cha Ikeda-Little. To preface I'll go over why she even exists, the pronoun update and proud parent scenario. These two things inspired a question in me as a simmer: How will the Sims 4 handle a character transitioning in gameplay? To Start we'll have the sim I made to be her dad
A milktoast design I know but I made him just basic enough to be recognized in the crowd. I made him a simple kind man who would love his family no matter what.
Moe I cannot take any real credit for as she was a generated townie who, I have to give Darren, was not made for a family challenge. But she must have found him unresistible since I never would have guessed she had the unflirty trait with how well they hit it off. When married Darren took her last name since I felt it was more interesting, sadly I thought it was Korean for some reason which it wasn't (It was Japanese). This will be notable soon. They are very basic functional straight couple (I know a rarity).
But now we have the reason for this post. This is their daughter which I'm kind of proud of the result. The edits I made to their them to actually do the transition i feel are some of better work in character design; her name as well is something I find clever as from my (already proven to be bad) research was Korean for someing like beautiful daughter. Representing her love for both her family and herself. But now back to the question I posed: How will the Sims 4 handle a character transitioning in gameplay?
BADLY
like when I did this the pronouns just didn't work period making it so every notification was misgendering her which felt bad. Like she was my girl and the game doing her so dirty was so disheartening. So that should be where this posts ends a sad tale of a failed experiment in the Sims 4.
HOWEVER
Werewolves came to the rescue! Needing a household to test out the supernatural I knew exactly which one to choose. So then I decided that if the Sims 4 had so much trouble doing a gender transition, I decided to do go more its speed and transition into a motherfucking lycanthrope.
And then she got a legal degree
From this point on i'll be hitting random beets that'll be any order. Something seemingly random but as you may tell from her traits Ae-Cha first trait was Lactose Intolerance which I'll be honest two seconds after taking I thought I made a huge mistake. Surprisingly this was not as miserably boring as it might have seamed, it is one of the few traits that change gameplay making there being at least some reason to make a variety dishes. Do hate how its a personality trait but nothing is perfect. Ae-Cha has two sisters: Bo-Bae and Da-Eun. Da-Eun is a vampire because I was dumb and never realized I gave the lot I used had the Dark Ley Line trait until the third kid had fangs. Introverted sort and is last kid to stay at home (probably since they are a vampire teenager and is either not aging or doing so very slowly). Bo-Bae has a relatively simpler life being human. Both of these kids exist since the High School years expansion released, however life most things about high school there isn't much to say when it was over. So a point that needs to be touched on. Ae-Cha face has changed, not because of estrogen this time but my inattentiveness. You see with werewolves I wanted to edit the wolf form getting the correct face and adding scars to her; unlucky for me I did those in reverse order and didn't realize that the edits I was making to the wolf from were being linked to the human form until long after. So Ae-Cha will have like two different faces in these screenshots post-wolf and neither will really look like the one before: I'm sorry but I'm stupid.
As touched on before Ae-Cha got a legal degree and is a defense attorney, from this I had a good idea. What if she was THE attorney for the superantural world helping all those paranormal in the ever more terrifying world of the court system. So for a bit she went around the sims worlds getting clients and meeting interesting people, in which I realize there is dreadfulo lack of naturally occuring superanturals outside of vampires. I then decided to make a family of occults and being the top lawyer in town Ae-Cha to go in and introduce herself. Knocking on the door she meets:
And they
OH
Well that is very interesting and
OH, SHE'S MARRIED I couldn't plan this mellow drama if I TRIED!
Like this is the most "Guess I got to do this now" prompt I ever got. Werewolves are amazing! But now I got to walk a tight rope as now I have a love triangle with 3 sims I don't want any bad things to happen towards. But at the end of the day of two households the one played does get the preference.
So to reintroduce this is their wife Robyn Ikeda-Little. And yes half the reason I hyphenated the last name was that it makes Ae-Cha's more complex, a fourth of the reason is that I made both the last names and liked them; the remaining bit is that it felt weird for Ae-Cha to leave her last name behind with her strong connection to her family. I think that is enough for one post, hope you enjoyed this little tale and hope you have a good day.
