The Son of Grace
Chapter 1
“Your highness you know you need His Majesty’s permission to go out.” his mother’s head maid Pepin grabbed him by the arm as he was about to climb over the balcony. “Because the last time you did so.” Even though she was smaller than the young prince Pepin was still able to toss him onto the red lay bed with a gold trim that sat in front of the marble and pearl-infused fireplace. “Like hell, I care.” Blaque brushed his almost thigh-length gray hair out of his face as he was getting up. “My older brothers get to travel the world.” He rolled his eyes looking at the buttons on his shirt.
“Blaque De’Angelo.” his mother was only a couple inches taller than him but that didn’t stop his nerves as her crystal eyes bore into his own. “Mother?” He quickly stood up and slowly walked towards her, Meri huffed as her son finally was in front of her “I told you I would take you out after my meeting was over.”
“But those noblewomen just complain about small problems.” Pepin tied his ankle-length light gray hair with patches of white while he was putting on his blueish green coat with golden thread lining the opening and cuffs. His mother held tightly onto an off-white handkerchief with a blue jay in the middle that Harriette, an older orphan, gave to her as a birthday present. "Mother are you still going to the orphanage today." She looked at her son as he opened the door for her "Why do you ask that?" The third prince let go of his mother's hand, finding interest in his coat buttons as he blushed so bright it was seen through his chubby brown face. Pepin laughed, opening the carriage door.
"I thought father told the council to fix the roads." Blaque held his mother's side as they hit a bump. "You know those men have not listened to the royal family in over a century." She spoke with disgust and mumbled some profanities as she looked out the window at the people… her people, she felt helpless as the Queen of Asselyna, she couldn't stop the war at the front lines as well as the political one at home. But most of all The Council of the Western Kingdoms she remembers that day all too well… as she was about to tell her son.
"When did he?" She huffed asking the driver to stop the carriage, rushing out without taking his hand the people gathered around her asking for a couple of coins. "I'm so sorry I promise I'll help you later I have to find my son." Meri tried looking for Blaque's gray hair, a little girl toughed on her light red slim spring dress. "He went that way." The little girl pointed to an alley Meri thanked her with a gold coin putting shock in the child's face as she ran down the alley.
It felt like the world was slowed down; he saw him, well just his back, but he could see his short black hair that shone gold in the sunlight. "Stop I order you to stop." Blaque rushed after him, eyes widening as he saw a man on the ground laying in his blood and two girls sitting next to him. "Where is he." He demanded "Your highness." The older one bowed the best she could as her leg was bruised. "If you're looking for the boy that saved me and my sister he jumped to the rooftops." The prince sighed, ripping a piece of his shirt to tie it around her leg since he forgot his handkerchief.
He groaned climbing up a shop. "Wait!" The boy turned around, but only for a second, the prince was stunned at how dark purple his eyes were. Even though he almost slipped multiple times trying to jump onto the roofs, he didn't know why he was chasing him, he never had done so with anyone else. The boy thought that crazy kid was gone already since he couldn't smell him even though he hasn't got all of his senses back since that time it was still hard to hear or smell, even his breathing was off as he leaned against a wall.
"Finally, found you." Blaque wheezed "Damm you can run." The boy didn't say anything. "Why didn't you stop when I told you to?" He tried to sound threatening. "I am the third prince of Assenlya Blaque Vigil Drach Caymen De'Angelo so you have to listen to me." The boy turned his head showing the red specks in his eyes. "Just because you're a prince doesn't mean much since you don't have anything sort of skill." His voice was deep for a child, but Blaque still scowled trying not to hit him "How dare you!" The boy only took a couple of steps to the prince "You are very arrogant, but you still followed me for some reason." Blaque tried to say something. "Why?"
"It's because I want you to…. be my friend." He whispered the friend part, but the boy could hear it. "Ryan Tasi." Blaque looked confused, "That's my name, Your Highness." He gave him a tight smirk.
