Pairing: Female Reader x Jae
a/n: This is my first fanfic ever. Iām so excited!!! Please feel free to correct me if I made any grammar or spelling mistakes since English isnāt my first language.
Also this is going to be a whole series with 10+ chapters. I just had this wonderful idea in my mind and had to write it down.Ā
āHey, Y/Nā Your friend Mina walked through the door of the store. You looked up from the counter and smiled tired. āAh, youāre finally here.ā A look at the clock made it clear that your shift already ended. āI was almost at the merge of falling asleep.āĀ
You knew Mina from university since both of you started to study music at Seoul University this semester. On the first day of university you both bumped into each other at the lecture hall and after talking and exchanging phone numbers you somehow became friends. Later you found out you also work at the same convenience store as her.Ā
Mina was one of your only friends here in Seoul because it hasnāt been a long time since you moved here. You were kind of shy and it wasnāt easy for you to make new friends, especially in a new environment.Ā
Mina just laughed. āOh sweetie, itās time you go home and get some rest. Why did you even take your shift tonight? You didnāt look well in lecture either.ā
Looking to your best friend and yawning extensively you said: āI donāt know.ā A sighed escapes your mouth. āMaybe Iām stressing myself too much with all these assignments and deadlines.ā You slowly stood up and got your bag before Mina took your place on the counter. āYou should really consider taking a day off. Iām sure it will set you up.āĀ
You stop for a moment and think about what Mina said. āYouāre probably right.ā Another sigh. āI will think about it. Thank you for looking after me.ā Mina smiled. āNo prob, sweetie.āĀ
Walking to the doorstep, Mina interrupted you.Ā
āYou sure you wanna go home alone? You know I can always call Minhyuk to walk you if you feel scared. Itās already pretty dark outside.ā Minhyuk was Minaās boyfriend and most likely the nicest person on earth you knew. They met two years ago at a party Minhyuk threw with his friends and then one thing let to another.Ā
āNo thanks, Mina. I appreciate your offer but I really donāt want to bother him.ā you simply declined āHeās probably already asleep and itās really not that far.ā You only lived like five streets ahead of the convenience store you worked at.Ā
āWell then,⦠get home safely!ā Mina smiled to you āSee you tomorrow in university.ā You silently nodded and waved goodbye to Mina.
As you went outside into the mild summer night you paused shortly to get your headphones from your bag. Maybe Mina was right and you should take a day off to get some rest. The last few weeks really killed your sleep schedule and you couldnāt remember the last time you slept a whole night through without waking up in the middle of the night.Ā
Looking at the starry night you felt a familiar sting in your chest. There was a strange feeling lingering in the back of your mind. The thought of something important you couldnāt remember.
Shaking your head you brushed those strange thoughts away and took a left towards your house.Ā
You had a long and tiring week laying behind you and your shifts at the store didnāt help decelerate it. Tomorrow is a new day, you thought and turned your music on.
Slowly walking down the long alleyway towards your house you enjoyed this short moment for yourself without anyone interrupting.Ā
Halfway to your apartment you had that uncomfortable feeling creeping up your body that you werenāt alone in the dark alley. You stopped shortly to glance behind you to look if someone was following you. You didnāt see anyone only the few street lights and a stray cat. Am I already getting paranoid? To calm yourself down you turned your music to the maximum, walking a little faster than before.Ā
The creepy feeling in your back didnāt stop and only a few meters away from your apartment you were almost at the point of running. Taking two steps at a time flying up the stairs to the second floor. With shaking hands you tried to find the keys to your door and stumbled into your apartment after opening. Shutting the door behind you, you sunk, with your back at the door, down and buried your face in your hands. āShitā¦..ā you whispered to yourself.Ā
Slowly standing up, you made your way to the window in the living room. Glancing down at the street you saw the dark silhouette of a man standing under the nearest street lamp and looking up to your window. You gasped terrified and sunk down on your knees holding your breath. āThe hell was that?!ā Did he follow you the whole way to your apartment?
After a few minutes of calming yourself down and slowing down your breath you took all your courage and took another careful glance down the street.Ā
The street lamp was flickering. You looked up and down the street but you didnāt see him anymore. The stranger who stood there just minutes ago disappeared. Did you just imagine everything? Maybe the stress with university and work was just too much for your brain and itās now playing with your senses. You sighed and made your way to the shower. Thatās what you definitely needed right now.
You couldnāt sleep that night. Those thoughts about the incident earlier still crossing your mind.
Was he a stalker? Why would someone try to follow you to your house? You desperately tried to fall asleep but it didnāt work.
After about 4 hours of being broad awake in your bed you decided to go to the kitchen and make yourself a hot cup of tea. Maybe your senses just played a trick on you and the feeling of someone following you came due to stress. Your mind wandered to the thought of calling in sick tomorrow, but your work ethic and need of money prevented you from developing it any further.Ā
Lost in thought you grabbed your favorite cup from the drawer above you. āDamn!ā It slipped from your grip and you tried to catch it in the air reaching out your hand. The moment you realized you couldnāt catch it anymore you closed your eyes in fear of getting a broken piece into your eyes. Much to your surprise you didnāt here any sound of it dropping to the ground.Ā
After some seconds of forcefully squinting your eyes shut you carefully opened them. Your view dropped to the ground only to see that there was no broken china. Instead of that your favorite cup floated in the air like it was attached to an invisible string.Ā
For a short moment you tried to process everything that was happening right now. But before you could think of anything to save that poor cup it suddenly dropped to the ground and dashed to shivers.Ā
Your first reaction was to back off from the broken pieces on the ground. What the hell was that?
a/n: Part two coming soon!Ā
