My first draft for this piece was different from the final one, but the thing that remained the same was Kanaya representing "Life" and Rose representing "Death" since I thought it fit them, also them cradling each other was another element that stayed I think?

As I was thinking of how to approach this prompt and finalizing the idea, I kinda realize that both Kanaya and Rose sorta go through a transformation in the comic, but in the opposite ways?

Like Kanaya going through this transformation and being given a new chance at life, while for Rose it brought nothing but despair and for a lack of a better words, it brought death to her? Especially in relation of her discovering her Mother's death

I just thought it was really interesting how they have this sorta connection with each other and I wanted to connect that, also it fits with the prompt so that's why I did it too 😁

Sorry if my explanation is all bad and messy, I'm not really great with words, but I still wanted to express some of the thoughts I had when making this piece.

HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, UNDERTALE!! ♥️

I can't believe UNDERTALE is the same age as me when I first got into it

Because Undertale is turning 10, the same age I was when I first got into it, I knew I wanted to make something really personal, I had a lot of drafts but I ultimately went with this one because I wanted everyone to see themselves in it. Basically what I wanted to communicate with this piece was thanking UNDERTALE for being a core part of my identity, that even now, it's still there, and it still impacts my choices, especially when it comes to storytelling. Overall, Thank you UNDERTALE for everything, let's stay together for 999 more years!

wip/check-in versions of this piece! as some people already noticed, this was a reference to Henry Fuseli's work "The Nightmare", an old painting i really like. i wanted to share my original pitch and the brainstorm that went with it as i feel it showcases my creative process:

lastly, scrapped detail: i wanted his smile to look ambiguous. not overly malicious but not too pained, either. jevil has that jester's privilege approach to everything while keeping a subtle sadness to his words, so adding this would ruin that character aspect (in this situation)

i wanted to add more pipis and healdeals (how i call spamton's press f1 angels) and more details like the nods to the soul and kris but i just ran out of time and this was a LONG piece to work on lol

anyway I just wanted to play around with coloring in a way I usually wouldn't with colors I wouldn't usually use. fighting my inner demons so I can use a blue that's not extremely teal lord I love teal

a few nights ago lotus and poison, iconic performers and trans women, were viciously attacked at legends gay nightclub. nobody intervened in a supposed community space. please help cover their medical expenses and show them they are not alone. they were absolutely let down, and what kind of community doesn't help its most vulnerable? consider showing them support both emotionally and financially after this dual trauma of abuse and neglect.
