The Unofficial IB Student’s Supply List
1. Pencil grips to avoid hand cramps from writing.
2. Instant coffee and a few ways to make it not taste like instant coffee. Some suggestions
a. Mocha: Combine hot chocolate mix or chocolate syrup and the instant coffee. Add water and warm milk. Congratulations, you have a mocha.
b. Dirty Chai: Brew yourself some chai tea. Mix in the instant coffee. Lots of caffeine.
c. Butterbeer Latte: Make your icky instant coffee, add butterscotch syrup that’s usually used on ice cream, add hot milk.
3. AAA Batteries. One of those huge packs from Sam’s Club or Costco. You’ll need it to avoid the calculator panic.
4. Snacks for late night cramming. More suggestions
a. Apples- They’ll wake you up and help keep you up.
b. Chocolate- The caffeine of course, and it’s delicious.
c. Dry cereal or granola
5. Post-it notes for annotations, marking papers without writing on them, and note passing (especially if you’re in a club like MUN where communication is paramount.)
6. Extra pencils and pens. Even if you think you have enough, you don’t. This applies to pencil lead, paper, Nutella, hair ties, etc.
7. Coloured pencils and markers. They help in the making of diagrams and posters.
8. The Essential Writer’s Companion published by Houghton Miffin or another by a different company. Just have this laying around for quick reference.
9. Tissues because come December your immune system will be shit and you’ll spend weeks with a runny nose. So will everyone else in your class. Soon your teacher will be out of tissues and you’ll end up stealing your classmate’s homework in a desperate attempt to blow your nose. Leave your friend’s homework alone. Buy yourself some tissues.
10. Similarly get a box of Emergen-C. It helps fight off colds and will make you feel better. Get some cough drops too. Keep both in your backpack along with the tissues.
11. Binderclips and paperclips. They keep all the papers together and organized.
12. A watch to help you look like a responsible student. Get one.
13. Sharpies. At some point you will need one, but there won’t be any around.
14. The same goes for whiteboard markers. Either there won’t be any, or the ones around will be dried out and gross.
15. Colourful index cards. They help keep attention towards them or they work when you have to keep your sources organized for the EE.
Sometimes y'all scare me with the accuracy of these out of context quotes, submitted by zirchromium again.
Thanks zirchromium!
This quote, my dearest IBers, does require context to make it funny; however it's a Legally Blonde reference so I'm sure you'll appreciate it.
