The opposite of “the elephant in the room” is “the centipede in the room”: something that’s not actually an issue but everyone is freaking out about
Toy Story 5's co-director McKenna Harris reveals that Taylor Swift wrote 'I Knew It, I Knew You' in a day:
“She's a very busy lady and she's doing so much with her career. The second she watched the movie she loved it so much and it resonated with her so much specifically because she has such a nostalgic relationship with Jessie too and grew up with these movies. She wrote the song in a day, it was such an incredible feeling for us because we respect her so much, we think she's the absolute coolest. She has big Jessie energy to me. And so to hear that her as an artist loved this thing that we made and then made something beautiful in return, it was such a wonderful gift. I think it is a blessing and we're so excited about this collaboration.”

at the end of the day, it’s you and your long distance best friend against the world
aoughh this whole story arc is just so. it's soooo. LIKE. it's such a queercoded coming out storyline. and joyce's whole complicated acceptance of buffy's identity is so realistic too. because it's often like this. where parents struggle to accept their kid's identity not because they don't love or support them but because they're scared and worried for them. worried about what will happen to them out it in the world, worried about external threats. buffy's identity as the slayer puts her at risk. being queer (now, but also esp then) was seen as something that put you at a greater risk. from violence, and also disease. joyce's deserpate "i don't want you to die" just really hits the nail on the head all those parental fears, and how in her mind it would just be easier and safer if buffy could just stop being the slayer. but being the slayer is a part of who buffy IS. it's not something she can just stop being. it's so intrinsic to who she is that the only way for her to not be the slayer is to die.
I’ve never had any interest in watching porn. My first boyfriend tried to get me to watch it with him but I found it extremely off putting and synthetic. I love reading erotica and sexy comics but mainstream porn is exclusively made with straight dudes in mind.
However, when I worked at the porn store I was required to have some passing familiarity with the titles we carried. We had an employee library for this purpose but I really dragged my heels on watching any of them until a coworker told me she did hers by having a Porn and Pizza night with friends.
I was so down for that idea. I called up several friends and told them the plan and we all sat down together to watch my first pick, Pirates II. The first Pirates movie was roughly in line with a Pirates of the Caribbean porn parody. Pirates II is to this day still one of the most expensive pornos ever produced. They lied about what they were using the replica ship for and promised not to have sex on it. They promptly then had sex all over it.
You might think it would be awkward to watch porn with your friends but we had a blast. Sex is already so close to absurdity at the best of times that with a hard cider in hand we all thought it was the height of hilarity.
The only issue was that I absolutely abhor come shots. Semen in general is just not my jam but in porn they delight in flinging it around onto faces to much distress on my part.
My friends took this as a personal challenge, to protect me from that visual they created a drinking game around telling me the exact moment to look away. Our apartment sounded like a bizarre sports match of shouting as climaxes neared in each scene.
“Not yet!” “Wait- now!”
“No, no, not yet, wait for it… wait for it- NOW! QUICK!”
We got a noise complaint afterward but it was a delightful night.
HELLO ! have you thought about Van Gogh’s First Steps today ?

Shout out to trans women who aren’t computer scientists or musicians or avant-garde artists or whatever.
Shout-out to tgirls who work at Taco Bell. Thank u queen, society would collapse without you
Over twenty years ago my big brother got me a job at a Taco Bell in the St. Louis suburbs-West County. He warned me that it was the “gay Taco Bell”, but since I was coming from the “gay Howard Johnson’s” I wasn’t shocked. It turns out it was the black trans women Taco Bell complete with black trans women in management. And they’d worked out an arrangement with the local teen Narcotics Anonymous group so that twice a week we would shut down the drive thru and the dining room and exclusively serve 60+ teens in various stages of recovery. And many of the women I worked with were in various stages of being out or transitioning and they were from all generations from teens to over 50. One woman I worked with had a regular corporate job presenting as a man 9-5 Mon-Fri and then came to Taco Bell and worked 6pm -2am Friday and Saturday night so she could be herself surrounded by other black transwomen in those stolen weekends. And we had customers come from all over the metro area because they knew they could be themselves in the dining room. I only worked there from 1999-2001 but for young me, this was a vital, formative experience. Some of the girls came from north city all the way out to the “gay Taco Bell” on Manchester in west county because they heard it was safe to work there. Like- I know times have changed but they haven’t changed much in 20 years. I’m still convinced that for lgbt youth, finding a job at your city’s version of the “gay Taco Bell” is key to survival.
Thank u for sharing this with us
the road OUT of hell is also paved with good intentions. That’s just kind of the main road we’ve got
People think hell can afford TWO roads? In this economy? You're taking the Good Intentions Highway both directions, mate.
