Your argument for gerard being an incel stems from the fact that you view him as a cisgender man. Which he is not. I know you say we dont know his gender identity and its not something he owes us, but also you need to bring into account his relationship to womanhood and femininity. When you do consider this and the complicated feelings that come along with it, things look a little different (at least to me).
This is relevant to your argument for mcrās femicidal lyrics as well. Im not entirely sure what youre talking about other than the most obvious one which to me is drowning lessons. A song which, yes, can be seen as gerard fantasizing about killing his girlfriend (i know he literally says it is in the merch. But shockingly people are able to lie to protect the personal meanings of their words. Please dont bring it up again. (And im like 70% sure he said that line was a joke between them. Dont quote me on this though)). Thats if you listen to it at surface level. But when you consider his feelings about the song itself i.e. refusal to play it live, how personal the subject matter is to him, etc. and the way he feels about his gender, the message changes to a reflection of self hatred and suppression. Again, in my opinion. But i know im just glazing and looking for the good in gerards evil evil politics and lyricism :/
ALSO you want to talk about misogyny? How about the woman claiming abuse calling gerards 16 year old daughter a whore who cant keep her legs closed? Or baselessly saying lindsey is riddled with STDs because she (allegedly) has more than one sexual partner? I dont know about you but that is just slightly more anti woman than alluding to receiving a blowjob or killing a female character in your fictional story ⦠or is that just an epic girl boss win cus she was born with a vagina? ⦠hmmmmmterf?mmmmmmm (see how i straw maned you there too? Felt real good)
Anyways it was nice fighting with you again its always a pleasure to debate with a professional brick wall. Ill be back when i find something else to be mad about. I love you <3
I was gonna reply and break it down but Iād be giving them credit by doing so, and stealing the attention from this mess of a ācounter argumentā. This is by far the stupidest anon Iāve ever received: and trust me Iāve received way too many.
honestly, expecting a coherent debate from this crowd is my first mistake, bc between the concerningly low level of reading comprehension and the complete lack of accuracy regarding basic concepts like gender, identity, transsexuality, transgenderism, feminism, or radicalism; the disregard for context, the absolute mess of a moral compass, the sectarian beliefs, and that desperate, parched thirst for persecution... itās a lot to unpack.
you keep making up lies (like calling me terf for refusing to engage in your delusion that Gerard Way is transgender), twisting reality, or looking a target to hit bc you can't hit a fucking book. And the most hilarious part? Yāall know heās problematic as shiiiit. Thatās why youāre on the internet 24/7 scrubbing for theories and obsessing over his sexual or gender identity, trying to turn him into a minority or some crap bc this is textbook white innocence.
And I aināt gonna explain that, go read some Jasbir Puar, KimberlĆ© Crenshaw, James Baldwin, Gloria Wekker. Just like I aināt gonna explain gender studies again, you can search that post by yourself or go read someone with a degree and stop being so comfortable with being a dumbass.

Becoming-Intersectional in Assemblage Theory
If any of yāall is interested in/has doubts-comments regarding intersectionality or wants to expand then donāt be afraid to hit me up or recommend authors!!
"I like to analyze media" and it's the most delusional take that absolutely disregards everything the media is trying to portray. Hate Gerard and lltbp all you want, but calling it white supremacy/nazi propaganda is defeating the whole purpose of what the story is trying to show. There are thousands of analysis videos and articles on all mcr lore if u actually use ur brain and look.
1) lol, even if itās delusional to you, itād still be an analysis. Iām not pulling interpretations out of my asshole, Iāve been continuously following up his writing, which is something you clearly donāt do. Also, I never said it was explicitly Nazi propaganda. Donāt twist my words.
When it comes to LLTBP, I mentioned that it clearly referenced Nazi germany bc the setting is an Eastern European coded country, under a dictatorship and Gerard is wearing the German flag in his arm!! The black parade uniforms are inspired by Prussian and German World War II hussar uniforms!! Look it up!!
And it could be just inspo, but the āinspoā gets erased if the person that wears it, clearly references Germany by adding the flagš«©. Thatās not a take, thatās a factšš³.
I have not read a single analysis. However, Iāve read countless ālore theoriesā, faith projections with fans filling up the gaps, and glazing articles claiming theyāre trying to critique fascism. But Iāve watched every show, Iāve been to a show myself, thereās no critique at all.
Simply using uniforms and having a dictator isnāt a critique of anything, thatās just using war aesthetics as set dressingš¤·š½āāļø, which is something that he has done in the past. And the fact that the country is fictional, exclusively white by choice!!! and the merch makes you side with the dictatorship rather than rebel against it: itās also a problem!
2) Iām going to assume you havenāt read killjoys at all because if you did, itād be impossible to not reach the same conclusion that I did. Because Korse, the genocide committer, fascist character!! Leader of the draculoids!! Second in command of BLI!! is somehow a redeemable character according to Gerardās writing.
The draculoids?? Same thing. They were just ābrainwashedā, just like Korse, āthey were following ordersā.
And if you actually payed attention with fresh eyes, in LLTBP Gerard ācriedā in front of the clerk at one point in one of the dates, claiming he ādidnāt wanna do it anymoreā, which would fall into the same category. Soldiers following orders.
I donāt get how people can casually digest that Gerard comparing his exhaustion with performing TBP to a war soldier is somehow acceptable, but once again, weāve been conditioned to believe that everything he makes is perfect, bc nobody ever dares to read into it. Nobody dares to call him out.
The Umbrella academy comic? Itās fucking problematic. The only reason why there are any poc characters in the show is bc the showrunners suggested it! And now he had the opportunity to make another show (bc this tour includes a storyline and theatrics) and he chose to not include people of color. He created a country from scratch, and chose to make it exclusively white.
Thatās not a ādelusional takeā, thatās whatās happening. And nobody seems to mention it. Because of course: weāve been conditioned to believe that everything he makes itās perfect or comes from his good pure heartš„¹ and thereās no issue with a white man pulling a Tim Burton in plain 2026.
I donāt think you understand how fucking tone deaf that is considering the current political climate all around the world. Most importantly in his OWN COUNTRYš„¶š„¶š„¶š§š§š§. Just like you probably donāt understand how insensitive it is for a band BASED ON THE U.S to be simulating mass shootings at their shows. Without a single warning for the audience.
Because thatās not a critique, thatās spectacle. And the whole setting of the so called āelexecutionsā is purely entertainment. And thatās something GERARD STATES HIMSELF: within the storyline. The public executions are entertainment for the dictator. And of course, the audienceeeee!!!
And lastly: there arenāt āthousand videosā, donāt lie! I even uploaded a video myself and the second it reached 500 views, WARNER MUSIC GROUP TOOK IT DOWN.
I honestly feel kinda depressed when I receive comments like thisš, because youāre inevitably watering down the work of actual activists who are risking their lives and their minimum wage jobs fighting these regimes, these politics, these waves of power, for you to assume that this whole war fantasy made by a tone deaf capitalistic white millionaire is somehow activism.
This is not a "social critique" and itās DEFINITELY not activism. Bc you donāt get to claim you're "raising awareness" if you never mention the perpetrators, never name the victims, and never actually address the issue. if all youāre doing is COMMERCIALIZING trauma for shock value, itās just exploitation.
itās even worse when the merch literally SIDES WITH THE PERPETRATORS.
you canāt hide behind "irony" when youāre literally putting the symbols of fictional oppressors on t-shirts to sell to kids. if your "critique" doesn't actually challenge the status quo but instead makes it "aesthetic" and profitable, youāre not an activist!! youāre just a vulture!!
It's actually really upsetting when you realize there's more literal incest and adultĆchild anime than anime about fully gay not subtext men openly in love.
Japan has a facade of progressivness. They'll hint at queerness as something exotic but not something to be fully shown, while being very comfortable openly fetishizing the abuse of children and unhealthy but straight relationships. And showing single digit aged characters fully nude in compromising positions.
Soo⦠I went down the rabbit hole and found out that Warner music group is a hardcore Zionist company𤢠like HARDCORE HARDCORE.
Turns out that the owner is Len Blavatnik, and you can Google him bc heās a lot to unpack⦠but this is one of the things that caught my eye the most:
US billionaires joined Whatsapp group to 'change Israel narrative' Business leaders spoke to senior Israeli officials and New York mayor dur
call me crazy and a hater but Itās actually INSANE that a narrative about a āwhite country resisting authorityā is being sold to us by a ragingly zionist a multi-billion dollar company. Weāre out here buying fiction fascist merch that funds zionismš¤¢š¤¢ fyi!!! Len Blavatnik has spent bank in Israel š¬š¬š¬ so much so that we can directly link it to the literal creation of Warner Music Israel plus many many many buildings, the Tel Aviv university and pretty much all contemporary tech!! š«©š«£ also Len Blavatnik was born in current Ukraine but he has major ties to Putin somehowšš„“. Bc Len Blavatnik made his fortune out of privatizing aluminum after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
This research paper explains the privatization of the 90s and how it affected people.
And of course, it doesnāt end there bc this man then went on to spend money funding Trump.
Client Challenge
And for the past year Iāve been so fucking confused by this lore. Like, how are they going to claim this is āanti-Russiaā (as the fans once interpreted) while theyāre out actively hiring Russians? Also why would they be anti-russia in the first place? Shouldnāt they be anti-war? anti-invasion? also didnāt Gerard call himself āRussian David Bowieā for yeaaaars??
Well, itās not anti-Russian-invasion at all.
Anywaaays, I KNEW that the execution of the whole thing was a mess; and Iāve been asking those questions like why is this world entirely white? š„“š why is it so narratively empty but the visuals so clear? why is he wearing a German flag? š³ why does the merch doesnāt side with the resistance? Whats their obsession with taking us back to the past instead of critiquing todayās fascism? Whatās the urgency behind this lore? What does that has to do with the O.G black parade? Bla bla bla, but⦠it all makes sense now.
All of that blatant insensitivity... itās so obvious. Turns out: itās not just Gerard being a tone-deaf idiot and a greedy capitalistic pig who loves a little white world, nah: this is a whole team of assholes with their own personal agendas. They are all profiting off a story created by a white dude who has been getting away with morally dubious content for decades.
This is a high-budget playground for people who wanna commercialize war trauma and use a band like mcr to make us believe that this isnāt just a zionist company making money out of brainwashing the audience to side with dictators and rich people, naaah, not at all, this is innocent world building!! this is just another one of Gerardās comicsš«¶š½!!
and bc yāall donāt research, you donāt know that the ceo Robert Kyncl is the same man who was working on YouTube (matter of fact he was the face of youtube!!!) back when logan paul was showing uncensored dead bodies!!! And he kept his ass quietšµāš«!!
I did my homework and turns out heās a man who literally grew up in communist Czechoslovakia and knows the reality of authoritarianism, so why is he out here greenlighting tour merch with a dictatorās face on it??
I know the merch for my date was made locally here in my country, but what about the rest? As far as I know it: directly funds Warner music group.
we need to be extremely conscious of what weāre buying because, at the end of the day: we are directly funding the machineš«©.
And of course this isnāt just about āboycotting every artist under Warnerā bc thatās impossible in this industry. Buuut, itās about having our eyes wide open to the financial reality of this tour.
Bc why are people dropping $2k to see them on tour when you could have seen the exact same show for $100? (werenāt those the prices for swarm??), so this isn't just inflation; itās a predatory cash grab by a corporation that knows exactly how much yāall willing to spend, and of course, a company that knows exactly how much kids loveeee merch.
And please god Iām not saying Gerard is a zionist!!! (even tho he didnāt say shit about palestine!!! šµšø), but letās look at the timing bc thatās the weirdest part: isn't it a coincidence that this very specific project: full of military aesthetics and 'authoritarian' lore, got greenlit and aggressively pushed by Warner in the middle of active invasions and genocides?š³š«©
Warner Music Group isn't a neutral party. Like I stated in the initial paragraphs: between their owner Len Blavatnikās massive ties to Israel and Russia!! this is 100% intentional; just like Michael Melham being on stage was 100% intentional, since he used MCR for likenessš.
Please look those people up bc it goes so much deeper.
We can all love the music and the band, but letās not pretend that a $125 fictional fascist hoodie is an act of rebellion.
I didnāt wanna believe this show was evil all together, just poorly executed. But now I do, its giving major āyyyyvan eht niojjjjj!!ā vibes. I am so deeply disappointed and sad. I donāt wanna be that person but we should just pull a loona and 100% boycott this comeback.
I know some people are very reluctant to criticize MCR bc theyāre all afraid that theyāre gonna disappear and break up again, but this has gone too far. And if this is what the legacy of MCR has become, then Iād rather see the band die.
I prefer to see Frank performing with the L.S Dunes under an independent label for reasonable prices, buy merch with his face on it and listen to a singer thatās engaged with his community! than working for questionable people, selling questionable ideas and actively funding Israeli or pro russia propaganda.
And I am very aware that thereās no ethical consumption under capitalism, there just isnāt. But this is crossing a very dangerous line, bc fans believe that this storytelling is somewhat pedagogical, and of course it is bc everything is political, but I donāt think itās benefiting the party youāre rooting for.
wishyouaway on Instagram went through and pieced together the flashing lights during sleep and discovered that it's the band members and part of the cast, including the dictator going through what is essentially conversion therapy, and BIG FUCKING YIKES. why is Gerard portraying a dictator as a victim? and we're possibly doing the evil woman mastermind trope again with the only people not going through the "reconditioning process" being the nameless woman with the suit and sunglasses and Marianne. it gives me the ick bad and I'm so tired of fans blindly glazing Gerard as some mastermind when it's just tired alt right tropes repackaged as thought provoking
According to his world building fascists are redeemable (Korse and the Draculoids), since they are just poor people following ordersš¤·š½āāļø this is killjoys all over again. Put an evil nameless, wordless and one-dimensional evil woman behind it and call it a day.
I stopped following the story actually bc I got sick of seeing people defending it as some radical act, instead of actually engaging with it and clocking the fact heās not only insensitive, but childish af and just like his plagiarist wife, heās painfully unoriginal.
The music is still awesome tho, I went to the show myself and had a blast bc the āloreā was practically nonexistent. Which only proves how fucking unnecessary it is in the first place, the show goes on regardless. What a shame he chose to taint the legacy and all the goodness of The Black Parade with his war play segregationist ass worldviewsš.
The Lynz tweet where she talks about being "tortured" by mcr fans is so fucking funny to me because she is a grown ass woman talking to teenagers on the internet. just log off and do some self-reflection???
it's weird that an adult was trying to insert herself into an online space of her husband's underage fans and nobody talks about it. if she were a man we'd be calling her a groomer and we would be correct
Absolutely!! Charlie aside, itās fucking weird how everything about her art and fame rounds up to teenagersš¤Øš³. She presents herself as a teen, she dresses up like one, she talks like one.
It makes absolute sense why she never found issues with MSIās lyrics themes, aesthetic or overall grooming ecosystem. Both men in the band were making out with minors in front of herš¤·š½āāļø. And the fact that they used her and Kitty as tools to attract more female fans is fucking gross š¤®. Yet, nobody mentions that, bc every time I started those conversations the bottom line was that Iām bitter and I hate Gerard way, or Iām jealous of her bc sheās white and pretty and Iām some ugly slur or whatever.
But this aināt a lowkey space for a bunch of white supremacists to feel comfortableš«©š«©š«©, suuuuureā¦
Sheās a groomer just like everybody else in that pedo band.
Protect black women. Fuck the state of Georgia.
Same Georgia that, last year, kept Adriana Smithās brain dead body corpse alive because she was 9 weeks pregnant, against her families pleas by the way. They even forced the babies birth date earlier because she was decomposing! As of 2 weeks ago he was finally taken out of NICU but is still to this day, entirely reliant on oxygen, because he canāt breath on his own. And who pays for this? The government and hospital used a dead black womans body for an experiment after all, so of course theyād at LEAST foot the bill right? Just kidding itās the family that wanted to put their daughter and grandson to rest of course! Itās only $600,000+ USD!
ā
āAnd to those of you who think youāre safe because youāre ready and wanting to start a family so obviously youre not getting an abortion anyway! So what?? Think again!! Because you can now be charged as a āwould be killerā for using pain killers during pregnancy because the same ingredient just HAPPENS to also be found in abortion pills!
They literally used these women as experimental test runs for what they can get away with and theyāre getting away with it!!
Justice For Alexia Moore and Adriana Smith
History will remember you today, Minnesota. Well done.
āThey laughed at me and told me this wouldnāt have happened if I was a ānormalā human being,ā Aliya Rahman tells The Nation.
Music company representing Coldplay and Ed Sheeran had sued tech platform alleging mass copyright infringement Business live ā latest update
absolutely awful
do you like anything about this band?? Like at all?? Why are you here? Honestly, it all just seems to make you miserable, get a life.
youāre annoying as hell and nobody likes you
this is what ice agents wannabes look likeš³š³ššš. GET OUT OF MY FANDOM ALREADY!!!! š§š§š§
I love the guitars!!! I love most of the lyrics, I love the voicesš„¹š„¹. I think Gerard, Frank and Ray are amazing singers, they all have very distinctive voices that happen to harmonize so wellš¤š¤š³. My favorite songs are: early sunsets, vampires, honey, demo lovers, house of wolves, of course helena aaahh, cubicles, drowning lessons, THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER (I kid you not, I canāt listen to those songs without crying, so I avoid themššš©š©), the sharpest lives, prison, SCARECROW was my faaaav from DD but now I think itās NANA (funny enough, I was one of the nerds on the trenches back in the day claiming ahhhššš this is ātoo popā š„øš„ø LMAOO, as if it was a bad thing, also itās not pop, wtf hahahaššš).
I guess you could say Iām more of a bullets girlš¤š¤ I think every song from bullets was my fav at some point⦠Which made me wonder: DO I REALLY LIKE MCR OR DO I JUST LIKE THURSDAY? mmmmm š¤, valid question tbh.
Pointing out flaws in Gerardās writing isnāt disliking the bandš¤Æš¤Æ, matter of fact it has little to do with the band and more with Gerard himself.
As for the āIām annoying as Hell and no one likes meā mmmm, I am very aware of that, guurlllššš«£š. I sadly have a life, I work, I play bass, I go to the gym, I make music (used to have a band, not anymoreā¹ļø) I write, and I enjoy watching movies.
Last year I took care of my grandfather until he died of pancreatic cancer, all while mantaining three jobs!!! And I donāt know you, and you probably donāt know me, you just come to my blog to cumdump your hatred on me bc you canāt comprehend how possibly can someone question the ethics of Gerard (sorry, I donāt wanna be mean, but come on, youāre being an asshole right now for no reason).
You gotta trust me when I tell you I wish I was dead waaaaay more than you do!! I am clinically depressed, diagnosed with pathological sadnessš and PTSD (I will not explain why, I donāt have to, and if someone asks you to do that, donāt!! (unless u want to of course) Protect yourself!!)
As for āthe fandomā, Iām not āin itā, anymore? Or āas muchā?
Idk, I āleft the fandomā after the split like many others. Bc my experience was that after the divorce, you pretty much had to choose between mom (Gerard) and dad (Frankie). Of course I chose Frankš«£š«£š«£, and I started raising my suspictions around Gerard, when he kept promoting MSI, when I read TUA, when he refused to support trans rights during the north carolina boycott, his whole weird twitter era, and then again when he wrote that heinus narcissistic post during BLMš³š³.
But naturally? I kinda forgot overtime and my excitement for the reunion pretty much blinded me (also very few people ever talked about these things, and the ones who did, would end up receiving this very same āugh get out of the fandomā treatment). The fans that Lynz blocked during BLM also received online hatred for ācalling her outā.
Anyway, like I said before, last year I spent an awful lot of time in the hospital, and during those long hours I started reading (and re-reading) some of Gerardās work (out of CURIOUSITY!!) And at some point it just clicked for me (maybe bc my frontal lobe finally developed).
I was like⦠eeehhh 𤨠thereās no way he keeps getting away with this.
And honestly, I wouldnāt even mind if we could all just agree on something simple: that parts of his writing are harmful, racially insensitive, and misogynistic, and that it deserves actual criticism. Bc artists arenāt saints, you people!!! And we can like their work and still talk about its problems!!
But what really surprised me is how often people avoid engaging with the work itselfšš¤š³. And theyāll insist that itās brilliant, thoughtful, culturally important, without actually reading itššš. Iāve literally had conversations that go:
āDid you read it?ā
āā¦No!! But itās great!!ā
āThen why do you defend it?ā
āOmg?! If you have a problem with G, just get out of the fandom!!! šššš”š”ā
And thatās the part that bugs me the most. Itās this weird kind of blind support based on projection, where people defend the idea of the artist they have in their head instead of what the artist actually made. Kinda like this current TimothĆ©e Chalamet phenomenon lmao; like the man has always been like this, but some people decided he must be this prince-charming, hyper-cultured intellectual just because he speaks French and has good cheekbonesš¤Æš. When heās not, heās just a dudeš.
And with Gerard itās even more interesting because suuure!! he helped make incredible music, bc we need to remind that My Chemical Romance is collaborative band, not a one-man project. Ray, Frank, Mikey and even Bob (yeah, even him) contributed to the creation of THE MUSIC we all love.
When you start isolating the solo work and public choices of each member, things look differentššš. And itās hard not to notice that the only one whose work repeatedly brushes up against racial insensitivity, questionable plots, exploitive tropes and a bunch of abusers, is Gerard.
Lastly, I normally donāt respond to comments like this and thankfully theyāre pretty rare, since Iām lucky to receive a lot of support hereš«¶š½š«¶š½š«¶š½š«°š½š«°š½š¤š¤š¤ššš But if youāre going to show up just to be an asshole, at least own that energy. Donāt turn around later and start talking about the wonderful, life-changing impact that MCR had on youššāI AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING!!!š¤š½šøšøšš„¹š„¹ā and then turn around and harass someone onlineš«£. And honestly, that kind of behavior undermines the very message of empathy and openness that so many people claim mcr gave them in the first place š¤·š½āāļø.
people are quick to forget that tucker's wife is literally chief of staff at an ai company and he has expressed great pride in her work before like yeah he's genuinely a fan of ai. he's not some ignorant old man like kids on the internet try to paint him when he shares ai stuff, he knows damn well what he's doing
and he's gonna side with his wife over teenage fans any day so people acting like they can "educate" him is wild
tucker's an ai bro either you accept it or you don't š¤·
i'm not okay what the fuck
i just found out franks band ls dunes hired an AI ARTIST to make one of their music videos?! what the fuck frank? what happened to art is the weapon?
Semi-essay numbered list longpost on why I believe that the DRAAG National Team merch is unappealing, tasteless, possibly offensive, and just generally like so fucking strange ā and why I think itās important to acknowledge that:
Firstly: I donāt think itās bad if you want/buy any of the merch. I think itās normal to want stuff that relates to the band you love, especially when itās world building stuff, so Iām not trying to make anyone feel guilty. I just think itās weird for MCR to have put this stuff out in the first place. Iām not blaming the band for this, Iām sure all of this is out of their hands. If you disagree with me on all of this, thatās 100% okay, Iām just offering my perspective and the things that immediately jumped out to me when I first saw the new merch.
Secondly: I know Iām being āthe friend thatās too woke.ā Iām aware lol, nobody needs to tell me. However, the entirety of LLTBP is based around thinking deeply and critically about what youāre seeing, what it means, and what it represents ā and thatās all Iām doing here :3
Point 1: Itās weird that this has been their biggest DRAAG merch drop so far. Two shirts, two hoodies, a jacket, a lounge set, two drinking containers, socks, a banner, a bag, and a pin set. Thatās a LOT of effort and content for this, considering my next points.
Point 2: This feels incredibly tone deaf when compared to what DRAAG (as a performance) is representing. Fascism, political corruption, government sanctioned murder, execution of political rivals, the suffering of citizens, the propagandizing of working classās pain, etc. Weāre very clearly meant to see all that, and see this is a fictional country with Soviet and Nazi imagery, and understand that it is BAD. And now weāre being offered merch of the Nazi imagery. Thatās really weird.
I guess that could technically be said about previous DRAAG merch as well, but I think I would disagree with that. Like the āa place that existā shirt, the white DRAAG dateback shirt, the deer flag, etc. are being sold at merch tables to commemorate the concert you were at, and have the context of being a bit more āmeta.ā When you buy a DRAAG shirt with the tour dates on the back, the merch clearly exists to remember the tour/the anti-fascist message of the tour THROUGH its use of DRAAG imagery. That is to say: it feels like itās not in support of the fictional nation, itās in remembrance of your experience in relation to it. The new merch feels like youāre a part of DRAAG, like a modern-day, supportive citizen.
The DNT merch has ā26ā all over it. Like, 2026. Like, āIn 2026 I am wearing completely unironic and uncritical in-universe merch of a fascist dictatorship because I think itās soooo cool!ā If it was made to look like vintage remnants of a fallen country, like the surviving historical team merch, that might have been cool. That would have highlighted that Fascist countries eventually fall, have a message of liberation, etc. But thatās not what they did.
Point 3: This is a smaller one, but the Olympics kinda suck. They have historically allowed participation from countries with misogynistic, homophobic, and transphobic legislation. They have historically not done enough to protect their athletes from abuse from the public, including transphobic abuse. They have historically profited from the abuse of children, to get āprodigyā after āprodigyā. They have historically employed racist and discriminatory practices in their judging. They have historically profited from the exploitation of womenās bodies through regulations that require them to wear revealing clothing. The list goes on. Itās just kind of a strange thing for the band to be evoking in their merch without a single sense of irony or criticism, and I think its inclusion makes DRAAG feel even more connected to the real world, which makes the Soviet + Nazi imagery even more blatantly strange in this context.
Point 4: The entire drop is ugly. This stuff is overpriced for how simple and boring it is. $30 socks with a design slapped on the side? $13 for three pins? Two $80 hoodies that just have Keposhka slapped around them? I love the scythe/wheat emblems, theyāre well designed. But itās just not worth what theyāre selling them for. We know damn well that those mass produced hoodies arenāt so expensive to manufacture that they just have to be $80 to make a profit. I think the shirts and canteen set arenāt priced as horribly, but even those arenāt great. It just all feels like a low effort cash grab.
Point 5: The entire thing kinda doesnāt make sense from a marketing perspective. Most of the fans who are super super into the LLTBP lore, enough to know what DRAAG is, enough be able to read Keposhka, enough be willing to spend big money on merch that 99.9% of people wonāt understand, and enough to buy merch that represents a theatrical performance instead of an album ā arenāt, typically, the same fans who are super into sports, sporting events, or merch related to sports. They know a huge portion of their most devoted fans are neurodivergent LGBT alternative people. Who are famously not huge fans of mainstream sports, like Olympic team sports. Like, do they (they being, idk, Warner??) even know their audience??
Point 6: Theyāve already done it right in the past. The last time they sold merchandise for a clearly politically charged invention of the band (Danger Days), they werenāt selling exclusively merch promoting the oppressor. Most DD merch is promoting the people who go against the oppressive government. We like the Killjoys, we relate to them as citizens of a real-world government who doesnāt care for us either. The BL/ind merch that did exist was well designed and interesting. And, most importantly, BL/ind isnāt based on Soviet Russia and the freaking Nazis.
Point 7: DRAAG IS BASED ON SOVIET RUSSIA AND THE NAZI REGIME.
I donāt know how many times I can say this. Your critical political satire shouldnāt be playing both sides. It shouldnāt be ālook how bad DRAAG is, look how they hurt the characters you love!ā but also ābuy our real-world inspired, in-universe canon propaganda merch for the fascist dictatorship!ā Maybe I could understand a hoodie and a shirt, just as some world building. But an entire merch drop? A $200 velour tracksuit??? Itās just absolutely ridiculous to sell luxury loungewear again the backdrop of a setting based on historically recent real life suffering, built on the backs of the oppressed majority.
Does anyone else see the irony here??? To go on stage and do a performance highlighting the suffering of the DRAAG working class and the uncaring government who sits above it all, and then sell a luxury $200 comfort item to your majority working class fans, during a time in America when so so SO many people can barely afford to live??? What the fuck? The MCR merch team must be directly overseen by His Grand Immortal Dictator at this point.
Now to say something positive: I think the canteen set is cool. It actually feels like it fits in the universe and has thought put into it.
Alternate ideas that I think could have been cool and less āproblematicā:
- Like I said before, I think it would have been awesome to see vintage-looking āhistoricalā (like the tourism shirt) DRAAG team merch. It would feel more like being interested in the history of DRAAG, instead of supporting the DRAAG government. I feel like DRAAG already has a sort of vintage aesthetic, and the new merch looking so modern kinda throws me off.
- Merch for a fictional DRAAG sport. I think this would be cool, since so far all we really know about the DRAAG citizens is that theyāre suffering. It would be interesting to see another glimpse into the DRAAG culture outside of the government.
- More items like the canteen set. Items that feel like they fit into the universe, like you could actually see them on stage.
- Black parade themed items!! Oh my god! The Black Parade (both the album, and the in-universe band) is the main draw of the tour, particularly for casual fans and people who donāt/canāt follow along with the lore. I want tbp jackets, graphic shirts with cool designs (like the limited releases), props from stage, plushes, $300 Gentleman replicas, CDs, yadda yadda you get it.
Thanks for reading! :)

people are spreading misinformation here. calling you a radfem in the comments assuming the worst, not acknowledging what you said about it.
I am a radical (intersectional) feminist lmao, Iām not a terf āwhich is different. I have explained the difference here before. And I use the term āradfemā bc I assume, (just like many other radical authors), that feminism involves intersectionality.
I believe prostitution and patriarchy should be abolished š¤·š½āāļø, thatās what radical feminism entitles. Thatās the difference between libfem and radfem. One wants to abolish the system (rad), the other wants to work within it (lib).
Iām not gonna tip-toe around definitions or censor the legacy forged by scholars before me just because people these days are too comfortable repeating crappy Twitter threads instead of trying to read a fucking book.
We have to read books. Go outside. Talk to actual feminist organizations and listen to the women doing the work on the ground. If you do, youāll quickly realize that sex work is not some glamorous empowerment narrative. For many women itās the result of exclusion, poverty, and violence.
And yes, that absolutely includes transwomen. In my country, the reality is that 95% of trans women have been involved in prostitution at some point in their lives, largely because they are shut out of the education system and the formal labor market.
So thatās precisely why feminists and trans activists fought for policies like the ācupo laboral transā (Diana SacayĆ”nāLohana Berkins employment quota law), which requires the state to reserve at least 1% of public sector jobs for trans people so they can access stable work outside the sex industry!!
So thereās a contradiction I genuinely donāt understand. How can libfems claim that sex work is empowering and liberating, and at the same time join us and demand policies designed to help women (especially trans women!!) escape it?? Those two positions cancel each other out. And thatās why libfem aka choicefem?? (the new TikTok variant for those who refuse to read even Twitter threads!! ššš©š©), is a patriarchal tool.
Because prostitution is never empowering. Money is empowering. Having access to education, health system and housing is dignifying. Itās not nakedness and the exploitation of your sexuality what makes you āindependentā, itās the money that comes with it, which buys freedom and opportunities.
And sure, some woman, from the comfort of her well-lit room, might be able to access prostitution through a screen and call it empowering (bc OnlyFans is still prostitution). But that is not the reality for most women, children, and trans women involved in the sex trade around the world. The majority are not operating from safe bedrooms with stable internet connections and financial security. They are on the streets, in brothels, or caught in networks of exploitation and trafficking.
Iāve been going to feminist protests since I was sixteenš³š«£ (literally sneaking out of my house because my parents never allowed me to go). And bc of that, over the years Iāve met and listened to all kinds of women and activists, and Iāve read the testimonies of people who have lived through the industry itself. Thatās why I claim that feminism has to be radical and intersectional!! bc it canāt ignore how sexism intersects with class, poverty, race, migration status, and transphobia. If we ignore those structural forces, then the conversation about āchoiceā and āempowermentā becomes detached from the reality most vulnerable women are actually living.
And me saying that men donāt belong in concerts itās a joke of courseš³š©š (unless, LMAO sorry šš). Funny how thatās the part that they find offensive?
Iām not interested in defending myself on accusations made by people that I donāt know and who donāt even dare to interact with me in the first place. I just clarified all these because I think itās pivotal for us to read more and break with this anti-intellectualism slope. Itās like people are afraid to learn.
And I naturally understand that teens are gonna feel threatened by somebody calling out the fraught ethics of Gerardās work. Because at the end of the day, this is about people disliking me for pointing out the elephant in the room. They couldnāt give two fucks about feminism, transphobia or anything else. Otherwise they wouldnāt be celebrating this era of MCR.
