Quite the trivia to ask what those movies have in common!
I have a small exhibition in Amiens, France at the Louis Aragon library from June 6th to August 29th. It consists of cartoons, prints and objects created in collaboration with Editions 2042.

"Preparing [for the role of Nikki] was really fun. We got to watch a lot of fun movies, and kind of pick and choose, like a puzzle, what we wanted in the film. Moments that we took inspiration from, and made them our own." — Inde Navarrette for Fandango "We watched Get Out, and focused on a lot of the moments where characters are showing an emotion underneath but saying something completely different [on the surface], and how horrific that is. There's a scene where [Nikki] is saying, "no", and there is a [similar] scene in Get Out [which we took inspiration from]." — Inde Navarrette for A Shot Magazine Obsession (2026) Dir. Curry Barker Get Out (2017) Dir. Jordan Peele
Betty Gabriel's performance is both understated and outstanding in Get Out. Quite the blueprint for this kind of conflicted emotion.

In this scene from Yasujiro Ozu’s 1949 film Late Spring, professor Shukichi Somiya, portrayed by actor Chishu Ryu, is captured in a dimly lit profile, holding an English edition of Friedrich Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra.

Willem Dafoe in Streets of Fire (1984) dir. Walter Hill
The main takeaway from Walter Hill's "Streets of fire" is that Willem Dafoe starring in "Shadow of the vampire" was foretold.

Cloître de Saint-Sauveur (Aix Cathedral cloister) in Aix-en-Provence, France. It is a serene Romanesque cloister dating back to the 12th century.
A remarkable detail from the late-12th-century Romanesque cloister of Saint-Sauveur Cathedral in Aix-en-Provence, France. This twisted corner support turns solid stone into something almost fluid, showing how Romanesque carving could be both structural and deeply expressive.
All Blue by Miles Davis, 1959
In his film "La Rabbia" (1963), Pier Paolo Pasolini erects a poetic and political tomb in memory of Marilyn Monroe, who recently died. The actress embodies the sacrifice of "beauty appropriated by power."
Clockwise from top left: Cagney, Bogart, Robinson, and Raft
“In the late 1930s a fan magazine polled its readers on the four reigning Warners tough guys: James Cagney was voted the toughest, Humphrey Bogart the meanest, George Raft the most sinister, and Edward G. Robinson the most lovable.”
(From “You Ain’t Heard Nothin’ Yet”: The American Talking Film: History and Memory 1927-1949 by Andrew Sarris, 1998)
A testament to James Cagney's tremendous skills that he could credibly act tough, the "toughest" even, with his small frame and slender dancer physique. Then again he starred in "Taxi!" without a driving licence!
It's raining in Tokyo. On days like this, you'd expect to see traditional Japanese rain-themed woodblock prints, but actually this piece is by an Austrian artist - Fritz Cappelari's "A Schoolgirl Returning Home in the Rain" (1915).
The artist came to Japan in 1911 but couldn't return home due to the First World War. So instead, he studied woodblock printing and ukiyo-e. The artist's signature is particularly clever, don't you think?
This reminds me of Henri Rivière's work!
