I know! It’s so confusing!
This is my post where I use info from the game to find out around what time the game takes place in. I came to the conclusion that ikevamp takes place sometime between the years 1896-1899.
Maybe Dazai’s route does take place in 1900, but that would mean it doesn’t match with the prologue… and I’m a petty person. That post took me months to make because of replaying routes to collect the screenshots, I refuse to have Dazai’s route ruin my post.
So looking at some screenshots from his route, I’m guessing Dazai’s route to take place in 1899 during the summer to early autumn. The reason for this is the following:
Hydrangea blossoms bloom around early summer till mid autumn. The game initially mentions Hydrangeas blooming during Japan’s rainy season, which takes place in early June to mid July so that gives us a frame of reference for the potential month.
Later in the route MC mentions the seasons are changing, so we can say it’s changing to early Autumn.
Let’s say MC arrived at the mansion sometime in June. The start of Dazai’s route takes place when she should be leaving a month later, making it July, that lines up with the rainy season and hydrangeas. We know that Dazai’s route takes place over several weeks, possibly stretching into months.
Dazai’s birthday is June 19th, so for the sake of preserving my history post i’ll say that his route starts after his birthday which would technically make it a little less than a decade away, because it’s not exactly 10 years, more like 9 years and a few months.
It also keeps the route in line with the game prologue which says the game takes place sometime in the 1890′s.
So in my mind Dazai’s route is the summer and autumn of 1899.
