[A hyena! …-looking animal! Simba’s fur stood on end, claws unsheathed and tail flicking in anger and, unconsciously, fear. He didn’t stand a chance against those three hyenas from home, but… there was only one here! He’d have to be brave. He just had to!]
[He let out a warning growl, indicating the canine should back away or explain themselves.]
Amaterasu honestly has no clue to what she’s done wrong now. Felines always had this natural anger towards her (except her fellow cat god, but she was another story!), and it was a little befuddling.
The canine stares dumbly at the tawny feline as it growls and spits at her. She thinks it’s a cat, but it looks pretty weird to be that. Maybe it was one of those foreign species? The wolf tilts her head to the side with a soft 'roo?', stating her confusion to the situation.
Is it the wet nose? Is that why cats hate her?
"Who are you?"
[The cub's growl is a rough squeak as he leaps towards the other animal, his fur standing on end and tail flicking like mad. He had to be brave this time!]
"Are you a hyena?"

"You… know… va?"
Simba blinked, tilting his head a bit. He’d never heard of that before. Maybe it was native to this land, or outside the Pride Lands?
"I’m from the Prid- Um… I mean, outside the Pride Lands. It’s a nice jungle! An oasis!”
( ah, it’s okay, kiddo! i don’t expect you to know it. they told us when they brought us here that we’d meet people from other worlds, remember? from beyond what we know. that’s why i asked about your place of origin! )
( the pride lands? so you do live in groups like pyroar or luxray would, hmm. maybe that’s why they call them lion pokemon. an oasis? that’d make you the king of the jungle, huh? )
"I'm not a king."
Anymore, that is.
"I'm just living my life, one day at a time. I lived with my two friends, Timon and Pumbaa. They're a meerkat and a warthog. We have a saying: Hakuna Matata. It means no worries. And that place really does make me have no worries."
Frowning, he added softly, "I miss it."
@luna
She drew her hands close at the sight of his claws, despite his small size. A sad frown settled and she shook her head.
"I….you said you felt like I was a mother, right? So please, believe me, that….no matter what you’ve done that, she’s surely worried sick over you. No matter what you’ve done…I do not know her but I cannot see her not forgiving you. A mother loves her child, period. And you know, regardless of how old you get you’ll always be her baby……."
Perhaps she was ranting off, maybe he wouldn’t understand what she was saying, but…..well, it had been a while since she’d thought about these things, a mother and her child, who she was and what that meant.
Despite her previous politeness she could not resist this time, and she drew a hand to pet his head lightly in an attempted reassuring gesture.
"You don't understand."
Maybe Sarabi loved him at one point, yes, and he would always love her, but there was no way... Absolutely no way she still loved him.
He'd killed his own father.
Despite it being an accident... Uncle Scar still thought it best for him to run away and never return. His mother would never care about him again; nothing would ever be the same.
Tears sprang to his eyes, but he refused to let them fall. Instead, he stood his ground and yowled, "H-Hakuna Matata! I- I've put my past behind me! It's all ancient history now!"
He wrinkled his nose in confusion. The creature was unlike anything he’d ever seen before.
"Where does it live? Outside the Pride Lands? Maybe in this… land?" This… great place with shiny tall rocks and lots of monkeys. Lots.
( i’m not sure what her natural habitat would be, actually! the places where we get information about our partners rarely has anything to say about the location of wild families of them. we both come from the region of unova, though! )
( what about you? where do you come from? )
"You... know... va?"

@beast
The only monsters Simba could think of were the hyenas, but even they weren’t that bad. They were scary, sure, and often appeared in his nightmares, but they weren’t even as terrible as Simba himself…
They didn’t… kill their own father….
The cub shook his head, replying, “No, you’re not a monster. You’re not scary!”
Beast gave a dry chuckle; Rare, especially for him. Not much of anything made him laugh anymore. Very little gave him joy.
”..If you had seen me angry.. I’m sure you’d have thought otherwise.”
"I dunno if that's right. I mean, I'm sure you'd be scary if you meant to be angry towards me..."
The cub shuffled his paws. "My dad told me that just because someone is angry doesn't mean they're dangerous."
"Unless you're the one they're angry at!"
@beast
"Hey."
Grinning, the cub sniffed back at the larger lion, wrinkling his nose. This didn’t smell like a lion, but what else could it be?
"Are you a lion?"
No harm in asking.
Beast shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. He wasn’t particularly good at dealing with children, either.
”..No. I’m just a monster.”
