So I’ve been thinking about this scene a lot. Mabel always gets so excited when Candy and Grenda come around (”I’ve found my people...”) and she clearly has so much love to give and fun to share and creative things to explore, but her excitement at having FRIENDS just keeps giving me this vibe that she maybe doesn’t have that at home. She doesn’t just call them her close friends or summer friends or Gravity Falls friends, she has a poster in her room that titles them her BEST friends.

And Alex’s comments about Ariel’s childhood has me feeling even more about it all. It’s just wonderful that Mabel’s having this fantastic summer away from home. She’s getting empowered to be herself, and Stan’s encouragement of it and his pride in her is probably revolutionary for her. She’s made new friends who really really appreciate her for who she is. I’m so glad Mabel has her friends and I hope she remains close to them for life.
