The mirror always haunted Shenhe. It taunted her with every visible flaw of her body that they could find. Whether it was their big hands, their veiny arms, they couldn't find anything that made them feel… like a normal woman.

They found their hands on their fake chest, hearing their heart thump as her hand then reached her face. They didn't really knew how to do makeup… they felt… awful. They shouldn't go out, not like this.

"...'yato? Darling?"

Their partner turns to them, hands still attached to the buttons of his shirt as they turn to their lover. "Yes?" Shenhe freezes, hands sliding over their dress.

Long, red, a "mermaid" tail at the bottom that perfectly compliments their favorite red heels. The ropes trailing up from her wrists down to her waist. To say the dress was less than perfect would be a crime to humanity itself.

It made her feel gorgeous. But…

She wasn't sure if she looked the part.

"Do you think... I look… okay?"

Their partner, of course, chuckles. As if she'd merely made a joke. Shenhe just stares, her hands still frigid. They held their hands up, staring into them.

Shenhe knew they were cold. A woman with a cold, frozen heart. The red ropes being the only thing that held back the only emotion they thought they could feel. Rage. They knew that they weren't meant for the spoils of human luxury. Yet…

They still felt as Ayato held his hands to her waist, leaning in and staring into the mirror for a moment. One moment that made Shenhe feel… nervous? Flustered? She wasn't sure what to call the thumping of her heart anymore…

"You look gorgeous, darling. In fact…"

His hands slip under the rope for a moment, their head pressed against the small of the others back as they whisper. "I bet you'd make others jealous of me. Of us, and what we have."

Shenhe smiles. It's small, it could never convey what his words just did but… to Ayato, that small, tiny smile meant everything to him. They smile with their partner, then take their hands off their lover's waist. His hands hold hers before asking, "Now… are you ready, doll?"

Shenhe stares for a moment, then nodding softly as they turn back. "Let's go."

hey slay queens, kings, and other royalties this is not my first fic ever but this is my first cross-posted ao3 fic! read it here<3

I couldn't help but explore the dynamics between my team (esp Shenhe and Ayato!) and mixing that with the trend on tiktok ab ur genshin team sleeping together so... why not!

also fair warning, I impluse wrote this at 11pm and tried to make it as pretty and poetic as possible so pls dont judge too hard LMFAOOOO p.s.: the implied isnt rlly like a... thing. can b romantic or platonic idc.

A moonlit night shines upon the inside of the teapot, a wanderer and the face of a clan already asleep; they've kept each other close, sharing their bodies' warmth. A hand brushes over the blonde wanderers face, brushing back the strands of hair that cover their dozy eyes. The blonde shifts ever so slightly, closer to the other as the hand retracts, almost frightened about what it had done.

"Shenhe?"

A voice beconds from the doorway, the eyes of the commissioner locked onto the woman standing before the others as he continues forth. 

"...What are you doing?"

The hand of Shenhe clenches at their newly acquired "tee-shirt", her eyes stuck on the two slumbering bodies. "Merely observing." The words crumble from her lips, her muted words hitting the commissioner, Kamisato Ayato, easily. "I see." Is his only response. He soundlessly shuts the door, his eyes going from the two to Shenhe.

"Is there a particular reason for your observation?" Ayato asks, his eyes drawn to his sister, the face of his clan; and his friend, the wanderer. Shenhe shifts slightly, her hand shaky as they reach for the sheets. They tenderly pull it up over the other two, leaning in before they release the covering. "...I've never seen mortals sleep."

"Oh really?"

"...Yes. I… They look so... peaceful; maybe I should sleep on the floor…?"

Her words are poised like a factual question, but Ayato has seen this type of thing a thousand times. It wasn't fact, or logic, or anything of the sort. It was feeling. The blossom of expression that Ayato couldn't help but admire from this woman.

"No, don't." His words are effortless, but they pierce through Shenhe like her own polearm. They stand there silently, as if... nothing had been said at all. "...But my-" "Aren't you tired?" He'd soon find that her expression had intensified, her brows furrowed as she held the ropes around her wrists. She stayed silent, Ayato soon turning to tuck himself in before…

"I'm cursed, yet you don't care?"

Her words ring out to him, his eyes slowly dawning back to the taller woman as he comments, "No, should you?"

Her hands are trembling, the expression on her face unwavering as they stare down at their painted nails. They couldn't speak, they couldn't find the words to describe the emotions soaring through their head as Ayato slowly caressed her hand.

"You have nothing to fear, one night isn't going to hurt us."

Shenhe looks back to the commissioner, her mind surging with thoughts before muttering, "I warned you."

Their hand slips away from his, slowly lifting the abundant cotton covering and slipping under it next to the wanderer. Their back is turned to the hydro-vision man, staring at the other two as the wanderer sleepily brings Shenhe closer. Her hands feel frigid compared to the others, and they can't help but think about the calamity they'd bring to the others. That is until they feel the commissioners body press against their back, his arms wrapped around their waist as he rests his head on her shoulder.

"Isn't this a little close for your comfort, Ayato?"

The blue-haired man chuckles, smiling as he replies, "Maybe… but I don't mind." His breath tickles her neck, but they don't react at all. They try to just… relax. Almost as if meditating within the strange comfort of everyone's touch. But oddly enough… they feel the commissioners cheeks still pressed again their skin, grinning.

"Ayato?"

"Yes?"

"...Why are you smiling?"

The smile falters, the exorcist can sense it. But now… his eyes link to her again. His lips only slightly parted before he whispers, "...This is nice. I'm happy I've gotten to experience this with you."

The exorcists hands now rest upon his arms, eyes slowly shutting as they finally whisper back,

"...Me too. Thank you."

GENERAL RELATIONSHIP HCS: TIGHNARI !

Just because I felt like it. And to feed the simps. Which does not include myself. Not at all. Stfu.

•If you’re a similar height or taller, he’s a clothes stealer. This is not restricted to just hoodies. He takes to any of your shirts. Especially crop tops if that’s your thing. Catch him in like a racer back crop top or something. He might even end up buying one for himself. Only the one though, or he’d be out of excuses to take yours.

•If your hair is long enough, PLEASE let him braid flowers into it. In fact, you don’t have a choice. It’s already in motion. And you cannot put it out of motion. He’s no braiding professional, but the flowers look oh so pretty. <333

•He’s not familiar when you first start dating- it’s not something he’s done before- but once he sees you doing it, he starts to really love painting his nails. Or, one better, you painting them. They chip easily because he’s constantly out in the wild, but he appreciates it nevertheless, especially if you’re understanding and patient enough to keep constantly reapplying it for him.

•He subconsciously leans into physical affection. He won’t go out of his way to initiate it, but if you’re the loving type he finds himself struggling to not admit to himself how much he adores it. It’s almost like a 6th sense after a while. Just instinct.

•Speaking of, it’s like he can always feel when you’re nearby. So in other words, good luck ever trying to scare or prank him. It won’t phase him in the slightest. You’re just setting yourself up for him to get you back later.

•If you’re holding hands, it’s ALWAYS the way that your fingers are intertwined. He’s got quite a tight grip without realising it. He cares about you a lot, and that’s just a subtle way he shows it. If you’re somewhere with potential to be unsafe, this is more evident. The last thing he wants is for you to be hurt.

•Alas, though, it’s inevitably going to happen at some point. He’ll take great care in patching you up and caring for your wounds, and will keep checking in once in a while and ask you to rate the pain out of ten in the days that follow. Asks you to let him know if it ever gets worse. He’s very naturally well prepared mentally, and so he always knows what to do.

•If you’re panicking over something, he’s good at calming you down, whichever way you may prefer him to do it. He picks up on it very quickly.

•He also picks up on when you’re tired a lot. Is immediately onto you about your sleep schedule and how you should go and rest as soon as possible. If you get stubborn with him you’ll very promptly find yourself being practically pulled into his arms and down onto the nearest couch or bed. This mf WILL make you sleep, you can count on that. Don’t even try that shit with him, you’ll get nowhere.

•Take an interest in his hobbies! He’s very happy to do the same for you, as he knows how appreciated it makes him feel to be listened to. He’ll remember all of the tiny details about you for a long time to come.

•You make him feel more at ease in crowded spaces. If he’s overwhelmed, sometimes all it takes is just for him to look over at you and remind himself you’re with him. It’s super sweet, actually.

The warm summer breeze trails through the retreat as you and Tighnari sit together. It’s the middle of July and you and Tighnari stay up late to help him get through some more research.

“I can’t believe you’re still on this.” You comment, playfully rolling your eyes as the fennec looks back at you with an almost offended look. “Aren’t you the one with insomnia?” He comments back with a glare, smirking as you lose your train of thought.

“That’s what I thought.” He comments back, going back to his research as you flush, looking away from him for a moment before saying, “this is why you get no bitches” he pauses for a moment, blinking before turning back to you, confused. “What?” “You’ll understand when you’re older.” You quickly comment, snickering as you laugh at how confused he looks. He just sighs, saying, “I know what ‘getting bitches’ means, I just… why is that the first point you make? you don’t have a partner either, you know.”

You stare back at him, almost offended before smiling and flushing, saying, “well that’s because I’m waiting for a chance.”

“A chance at what?”

“A chance to finally confess, dumbass.” You sigh, leaning into the palm of your hand as you continue. “I’ve never found a good moment so… I just. yeah, you get it.” He stares at you, ears twitching for a moment before he stops and blinks, shaking his head as he then says, “well, maybe you should just go for it.” He then smiles, chuckling as he sarcastically says, “document it too, I suppose. Since that’s how you deal with everything.” You huff, cross your arms as you say, “heyy that was once!” He simply nods, enjoying your pout as he continues with his work.

The next day you come back to the ranger’s retreat, sighing softly as you look at the paper in your hand. Was this really the way you wanted to do this? You ended up going home and then making a fancy document with all sorts if glitter glue, fancy magazine paper and anything else you could grab that read “be my partner in crime (boyfriend)” with your name signed. You sigh softly before entering his office again, swallowing thickly as you look to him.

“Y/N! Oh, hey I was just about to-“ he pauses, watching you nervously fidget with the paper behind your back. “Is… something the matter?” He asks before you slam the paper down on his desk, covering your face as he reads. He then blushes, staring at you before… you hear the soft scratch of the pen on the document, the way his breath tenses for a moment before quietly mumbling something, the way he sits there so still it’s almost as if no one was there at all. You uncover your eyes to find the document signed with a blushing Tighnari behind it, looking to you before saying, “all of your taunts… all of the waiting. it should’ve made sense.”

You blink away tears as you then hug him, accidentally making him fall to the floor as you yell, “You’re my boyfriend!!” He laughs, his hands finding solice in your waist as he smiles, “yaaayyyy…” with a small smile coating his lips as you both relax j to eachothers arms, at least for a moment.
