“Did you just say you’ve been cursed?” Bobby asks incredulously, and Don feels like tipping himself into the water. He’d do it, too, if it wouldn’t take everyone else with him. Not to mention the crowd of spectators that would surely have something to say about the weird Americans who can’t stay in their damn boat.

Don spots Bobby heading in his direction. He seems to have come from the dining hall, as he’s got a muffin in hand. When he sees Don, his eyes light up. Don knows it’s just because Bobby’s happy to see someone else out of bed, but it still makes him feel all warm inside. Bobby waves enthusiastically with the hand that has the muffin in it, sending crumbs everywhere. He catches himself and switches hands.

Don’s stomach is turning, and not just because of the seasickness. “Fine,” he says. “So, not good at all?” Bobby asks, voice light, as if this isn’t the first time he’s visited in the several days they’ve been on the ship.  “What about you?” “Fine,” Bobby murmurs.
