Mari Ohara Just Slayed Me!
なんでもないや (Nandemonaiya (”It’s nothing”) piano arr.) from the movie 「君の名は。」Kimi no Na wa short cover by ichigogyuunyuu (original by RADWIMPS, also sung by Kamishiraishi Mone, Mitsuha’s voice actress in the movie.) Instrumental NOT played by me, found here and borrowed + pitched up an additional semitone by me. All vocals (pitchy and otherwise lmao) and sloppy lazy mixing belong to me.
Hi guys! Been a bit since I uploaded some singing. I feel like everyone (or at least everyone who follows me) is at least aware of Makoto Shinkai’s beautiful movie Kimi no Na wa, or Your Name. It’s a really great, emotional watch with a lot of fantastic songs by RADWIMPS, so I definitely would recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet!
I was aware of this song when I saw the movie, but hadn’t thought about it until one of my very closest friends (who I often sing with as well!) told me she thought my voice would suit this well. I mulled over it for a while and finally agreed that I could probably do it alright, and learned it lmao. I love the big sweeping feel of the original instrumental, especially at the choruses and the bridge, but this piano version stole my heart, especially since I was recording at like 1 AM (spot them mad tired vocals eyy) and appreciated not having to bring out The Big (vocal) Guns for the chorus in this version. Even better that it was already in Mitsuha/Kamishiraishi Mone’s key so I didn’t have to pitch it up a crazy amount (for those unaware, the vocalist for RADWIMPS is a male with a great voice who sings things in a key way too low for me LOL.) Soft ballad versions like this let my vibrato shine a little more too, I think. This was a real treat to sing, so while I’m SUPER sorry it’s just a one-shot with some sour notes and way-too-loud random harmonies, I wanted to share it with you guys. I hope at least the emotions I wanted to convey got through. Maybe I’ll sing it better one day. Thanks for listening!!
