Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
“Personality tests are dumb.”  This is a common statement made by people who have taken over 500 Buzzfeed quizzes and have convinced themselves that they will never find the right answer.  To be honest, who could blame them?  If one keeps receiving superficial results about a topic they would love to learn more about, it’s quite frustrating to not find sufficient information.  After many years of dissatisfaction, the MBTI started to become prevalent.  MBTI stands for “Myers-Briggs Type Indicator,” which is a scientifically proven personality test, emphasis on scientific.  The type indicator was created by mother Katharine Briggs and daughter Isabel Myers.  Using the works of Carl Jung, they created the concept of the type indicator.  The pair came up with a way to figure out how a certain person views and processes the world, with only a simple questionnaire.  After completing the questionnaire, you will get your four letter personality result.  Now, you must be thinking, “Wait, you can’t just shove someone into a specific category and call it a day!”  If you’re thinking that, you’d be correct!  The reason why these test results are so specific to the individual is because they use percentages to describe how much of each category you are.  When talking about what makes up a personality type, there are four categories that make up one’s type.  The first category is Extraversion v.s. Introversion.  Someone who is extraverted is a person who recharges by being around other people.  They also prefer to think out loud and tend to speak before they think.  Someone who is introverted is a person who recharges by being alone.  They prefer to think inside their heads and they tend to think before they speak.  The second category is Intuition v.s. Sensing, which can be a little confusing.  In order to clear some of that cloudiness up, Intuition and Sensing describe the way an individual approaches a certain situation and how they make sense of that situation.  Someone who is intuitive will understand a situation by looking at the big picture.  They are able to make inferences and can most of the time perceive various ways in which a situation can develop.  When talking about someone who is sensing, they will understand a situation by looking at all the specific details.  They are the type of people who are very intent on living in the present.  Instead of analyzing the situation, they take it at face value and base their decisions off of that.  So now, the third category, which is Thinking v.s. Feeling, is quite self-explanatory.  “Thinking” people are those who approach a problem and try to solve it in a logical way.  On the other side of the spectrum are “Feeling” people, who approach a problem and try to solve it by basing their decisions off of their emotions.  The fourth and final category is Judging v.s. Perceiving.  There is a misconception that a judging person is someone who is judgemental, but that isn’t necessarily true.  Being judging and being judgemental are two, unrelated concepts.  They are very systematic people who like to plan out their time and base their plans into an effective schedule.  A “Perceiving” person is a flexible individual who is very fluid with their time.  They can adapt into the current situation that they’re in quite seamlessly.  Using these four categories, there are sixteen possible personality results one can get.  Each of these sixteen have been extensively researched and many articles are dedicated to each specific type.  Each personality type has one cognitive function that they lead with.  A cognitive function is a technical term for “modes of processing information and making decisions based on your Myers-Briggs type.”  For example, I'm an ENFP and I lead with my Extraverted Intuition.  All of these types have both strengths and weaknesses and one is never better than another type.  I personally see this test as a way to fix my flaws and shortcomings.  By being able to fix the weaknesses that you have and to accentuate the strengths that you possess, it increases the quality of communication between a group of people, which in turn is more productive.  MBTI has answers to many questions you might have about yourself and will be able to help you to be the best person that you could be.  Remember, MBTI isn't a dumb personality test - it's a personal guide to many of life’s confusing situations.
The 2016 Presidential Primaries are upon us and several states have already pledged delegates.  Delegates are representatives of United States territories.  There is still plenty of time of course, until the winners are decided.  With four Republican candidates remaining, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and John Kasich, the delegates are spread among them.  The Democrats however, have only two candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
As of March 10th, Trump is leading the Republican party with 458 delegates, Cruz with 359 delegates, Rubio with 151, and Kasich with only fifty-four.  The Democrat’s front runner is Hillary Clinton with 1,223 delegates and Sanders lagging behind with only 574.  The Republican candidates require at least 1,237 delegates for any of them to be nominated.  The Democrats require 1,435.
It seems as though anything can happen between now and July.  Sanders could easily catch up with Clinton if he is able to convince the remaining 2,968 delegates.  It’s the same situation on the Republican side with Trump and Cruz neck and neck, there is no clear winner for them. Â
